Watching the announcement trailer... I just can't get over how freakishly ugly this game is. I dare say this easily reaches FF15 Pocket Edition-level of "these characters and this artstyle do NOT belong together" nightmare fuel.

We don't use numbers at Nova Crystallis, but I effectively gave it around an 8 or so. Very solid. Recommended.

Nice to see it coming to other platforms.

Base price is a full priced release though?

I know era loves to rush to shitty hot takes, but you might not have noticed this, but neither Bravely default 1 nor Bravely second are on switch either.

The games are entirely unrelated, in the same way each Final fantasy game with a different number is entirely separate
That's great. I would still like to play the other games in the series.

I saw that there were some very good deals on the physical Switch version today ($29.99 USD on Amazon). Wonder if that's related at all to this announcement?

What a pleasant suprise.

Looking foward to those backgrounds at 4k

@edit
That regional pricing...sales it is, if i was to buy a full price RPG might as well go with Tales of Arise which also has bad pricing but it's still cheaper than this.

jesus at the regional pricing, terrible.

I'll wait a million years before I buy it, I haven't even bought Octopath yet because of the awful pricing.

I wish we got ports of the first two games as well.

Oh this is a pleasant surprise. I mean I expected this on PC of course, but I thought it would be EGS exclusive

Lol I got this yesterday on Amazon deals for $30…
Still, I'm glad it's making its way to other platforms. Will double dip if I like it.

Hoping for a performance boost. The Switch version certainly strugged to keep up; those split second hitches and pauses were the most glaring.

It's a great feeling that everyone gets to play this game! But I think that I'll still get it on Switch, if not for the fact that I get to own this game on a gamecard & that I can play it anywhere I go.

Nice, wonder if we'll be getting Xbox and PS ports for it too sooner or later

That's cool news. Still waiting for Octopath to drop on PlayStation… any day now… right?
Doubtful, because there's no audience for games like those that aren't AAA titles & because they don't sell well on either Xbox or PlayStation.

How much was Epic offering for exclusivity? It seems like a tremendously stupid waste of time to try to make any argument for that unless you know how much Epic was offering. Like, a really, really, really stupid waste of time.

Note to PC players: Play this on mute and skip every cutscene if you wanna actually enjoy it.

The soundtrack is phenomenal.

Good, Bravely 2 felt like it was struggling heavily on the Switch, the bad performance made me pause the playthrough indefinitely. The game should benefit significantly from the PC power, faster loadings being the primary concern but also 60 fps and anincreased resolution. It is running on UE4 so it is promising. I am buying this Day 1 and finally committing to it.

Now, who do I need to bribe to get more ports of NS games which could have a transformative experience on the PC? Astral Chain, Ultimate Alliance 3, Disgaea 6 and many more. I have this sinking feeling that Megaten 6 will join this list too… At least we are getting Rise PC next year.

Astral Chain is now 100% owned by Nintendo.

You're never seeing Astral Chain (Nintendo IP) or UA3 (Nintendo x Marvel collab similar to Spider-man on PS4).

I had some issues with II, but it's still worth a play, especially with a discount.

The dungeon environments and battle scenes look really pretty as well.

How could you do this to me? So cruel. On a serious note, I didn't know that. I hoped they were more like Daemon X Machina which was published by Nintendo but managed to get on PC in the end. Ah well, sucks.

Oof at that regional pricing. For whatever reason both Octopath Traveler and BD2 cost more than any other game from Square, I wonder if they have some kind of agreement with Nintendo to match the price of a Switch version.
I think so. In Brazil Blaster Master Zero 3 and Nocturne also have worse regional pricing that other games from those pubs and all they have in common is a Switch version.

The Switch was clearly holding it back when I tried the demo, and the game didn't seem too great anyway, but I'll give the PC version a go though when it hits a good price. I'm always up for a turn-based JRPG. The in-game character art style is kinda ugly though.

Octopath traveller still did way better on switch than steam. It's just laser targeted at the audience most likely to buy it, which is on switch.
Much of this can also be attributed to a complete lack of marketing (as well as being a late port). There was nobody pushing the game on Steam like there was for the Switch version, which Nintendo pushed for months with Directs and other advertising. SE did virtually nothing, much as they'll do for this. The game is out in 7 days and this is the first we've heard of it. No demo or anything either.

There were people even here on an enthusiast forum who didn't realise the game was on Steam.

Now we need Bravely Collection (Default + Second) for Switch & Steam.

It was actually expected lol.

All SE exclusive games on Nintendo Switch comes to PC 7-12 months after Switch release.

You can also expect Triangle Strategy to come to PC.
Only one that didn't was Collection of Mana.

Triangle Strategy definitely will.

Nice, wonder if we'll be getting Xbox and PS ports for it too sooner or later
If Microsoft and Sony bankroll the ports they will.

So only count on Xbox/Gamepass.

The World Ends With You Final Remix is also Switch exclusive despite the fact Mouse controls would probably work pretty well.

I believe Collection of Mana is the only exception because Nintendo had the ROMs and Square lost theirs lol. So Nintendo gave it them in exchange for exclusivity.

Isn't Collection of Saga exclusive still, too? Althought it hasn't been a year since it's launch, so it could still have some contracts pertaining to it.

Ah, right.

There's also a bunch of Taito stuff too if we include that.

That too!

edit: Looking it up there's more than I remembered! It's nearly all emulation or remasters though.
