It's really good. I imagine I can vaguely talk about it now a bit since this news it out. But, it's definitely better than the 1st. It's a lot of fun.

I'm actually surprised they are waiting until the day before the election. If/when (hopefully) Trump/Pence lose, the film loses a bit of its timeliness. I saw a rough cut that seemed pretty complete to me back at the end of July / early August timeframe.

Some of the reports said there was one particular person who gets pranked whose career could be devastated by it. Do you remember anything that stuck out like that?

The rumored title for this movie is bonkers.

Borat: A gift of a pornographic monkey to vice premiere Mikael Pence in order to make benefit recently diminished nation of Kazakhstan

Was it at least on the bluray?

I doubt it, he made it sound like it wasn't something he wanted to put out into the world. I went into it here:

I'm like halfway remembering here, but the jist of it was that he did an interview/tour at some hardcore neo-Nazi's house, like an actual convicted murderer, the real shit. The bit was that Bruno would take off all his clothes for some contrived reason and then his boyfriend would catch him in an awkward situation with the Nazi.

It didn't turn violent but Baron Cohen said he left it out of the movie because the dude was so full of hate that there was nothing funny about it.

I cam understand it being seen as racist, but i always took it at his pushing the stereotypes so hard that it had to be satire while showing how racist, homophobic, sexist, etc the people he interacts with are. I feel it does have the same effect that Chappele said caused him to stop Chappele's Show, in that it a group of people arent sewing it as satire and use it to justify their bigotry, which is a problem, instead of seeing how stupid the bigotry is, which was the goal of the product.

I understand those against it, but it really does appear that on most issues Sacha Baron Cohen is pretty liberal and wants to point out the stupitity of the right, otherwise i would agree with you.

The first Borat was competely and utterly horrible and fascinating and I never want to see it again because I nearly cringed myself inside out. If this is the same and also in some way contributes to the downfall of some assholes, it will be epic.

They are comfortable letting us know that Rudy and Mike Pence are in this but also say that there is a segment that can ruin ANOTHER politician. I want to know who it is.

I'd say it's embarassing for the particular individual but far from devastating as it would be expected from him. Plus, that individual is out of running for political office so ultimately it doesn't matter career wise.

Not to mention this person makes an ass out of themselves weekly at least. As recently as the last few days.

Absolutely hilarious scenario though!

On the DVD commentary for Bruno he also revealed how they dropped the scene with the baby in front of the TV audience, but in that version it were white people. One of the guys in audience said flatout he would introduce him to his Smith & West when he visits him(or something along those lines).

In general Bruno was the most dangerous movie for him. That one scene where he is running from the orthodox jews? He is running for his life for real there.

Was Who Is America any good? I remember it getting a lukewarm reception when it came out

It's a lot! But it's all very good.

I think for fans who came to Sacha Baron Cohen through the Borat film and follow ups, probably didn't dig it as much.
But as someone who has seen every single episode of Da Ali G show, I think it's fucking great. Just little sketch pranks.

I want to say that the first film hasn't aged well but it also gave Cohen a wide canvas to pull back the curtain on racist American xenophobia at the time. The fact that he's secretly speaking Hebrew throughout the film is a funny touch given how anti Semitic his in-world character is.
He also spoke Polish in spots.

This is one of my all time favorite skits. Just goes to show how bizarre homophobia is.

I believe the rumors are that part wasn't included in the preview screenings.

Hell yes!

Borat is one of my top 5 movies, just absolutely fantastic. Back in high school my friends and I had watched it so much that we could literally recite the entire script.

I dont see how that changes what i said. I understand people can take offense to his portrayal and that there are people who use his portrayal to justify their views, but he isnt supposed to be the target of the humor. The portrayal is so stereotypical that in order to draw out from others the humor of the scenario, as they are to ignorant to see it is stereotypical and they show how stupid and bigoted they are. The fact he gets taken seriously at all in order to be able to be taken seriously is the problem, so many people that hold bigoted views see him dressed up as Borat and dont think 'hey, this isnt how people from Kazakhstan act,' but instead allow themselves to be made a fool because they dont see how stereotypical it is.

If he was trying to play a true Kazakh, gay designer, gangster, middle eastern prince and he portrayed it the way he does, I would think it is a problem, but he isn't. His character is the conduit to show how stupid others are to allow themselves to be made a fool of.

Can't wait. I really liked Who is America, and watching the first movie was probably the hardest I've laughed in a theater in my life.

I did watch the whole video. I dont disagree with the video, except where he says 'basically Sacha Baron Cohens entire career'. I agree that in media a lot of non-White, non-Christian characters are portrayed poorly, and doing exactly what is stated at the timestamp you gave.

My argument is solely on the characters he portrays, as they are not ever meant to be taken seriously. The goal is that Sacha Baron Cohen's career ends because in order to fool someone he would not be able to rely on stereotypes and would have to actually use brown-face or whatever to fool people.

Like i stated before, I do think there is a group of people who aren't laughing at the people being made a fool, but at SBC's character portrayals and that does perpetuate orientalism. However I dont believe that is SBC's goal and that is why i dont find it gross. He is being so strereotypical that the average person should know Borat isnt a real person and they should be able to call out that they are being setup, however these people really beleive the stereotypes and allow themselves to be setup, and them not seeing it and what they do is where the comedy is.
