WoW is such a lost cause. Exciting npcs like the LIch King are cool but gameplay is all that matters. If players are still just doing dailies and farming mounts with homogenized classes it gets old fast. If all the gear you get is replaced every 3 months and being tossed at you constantly it's pointless. Current WoW is really only good if you collect mounts and pets.

Arthas' Lich King died at the end of Wrath of the Lich King but then the Lich King still survived or something through the power of magic and MMO writing while Arthas died

its come quite a long way compared to vanilla. I dont think its feasible to do much more outside of a total overhaul (ie: WoW2)
