Ban discussion of every company with ties to China and this forum would become a ghost town.

The Chinese government is, at the moment, legitimate. Should companies not obey national law because the government is disliked by parts of its fandom?

What? Do you even understand the issue here?

Blizzard banned a Hong Kong player because he used his freedom of speech (which is legal in one country two systems Hong kong) to say Free Hong Kong. Blizzard banned him because they knew not doing so would anger many Chinese and cause a boycott. This has nothing to do with national law in China.

Either way, just because a government is legitimate does not mean we should let them get away with oppressing human rights. Same way as Nazi Germany and Imperial Japan was doing their shit around the world. What kind of logic do you have there?

Yeah. Fuck Blizzard, if they want to cowtow to the chinese government that is making a literal genocide happen with uighurs and oppresses HK people and god knows what else (I mean, Tibet is another example, their doing in Africa etc), let them, but deplatforming them here seems right.

OP doesn't just want to ban Blizzard talk. They want to ban talk of any company that does business in China. So Disney, Nintendo, Sony, Xbox, etc. would all be banned too.

I have to say I admire the OP for acknowledging that the problem is larger than just Blizzard but trying to get a VIDEO GAME forum to ban discussion on 90% of the industry is fool hardy and silly.

So because they perceviably suppress free speech, you'd like to suppress the freedom to discuss their products? Sounds reasonable.

Why stop at China? The United States is currently responsible for about just as many human rights violations as China is, though in different ways perhaps.

Example: Why do we allow discussion of Call of Duty when it has long been a recruiting tool for the US Military?

And no this isn't an attempt to de-legitimize the idea of not supporting Blizzard or other offending companies, but attempting to completely ban all discussion of them quickly leads to a slippery slope.

This seems like some weird KiA troll thread. This line of thinking is so devoid of nuance it's not even worth having the discussion.

Is China the only country which does terrible things? There would be a handful of games to play or talk about if we limited it like that.
