Might just be best for everyone if ERA banned THQ topics altogether already. These threads never get good. They always devolve into messes. Doesn't matter why or who is wrong or who should have just ignored who and who should have just written about the game itself, these threads are always shit at the end, so maybe just do everyone a favour and pull the plug.

"But you didn't contribute to the thread about the game itself either!"

Fine, it looks aight, hate the narrator though.
Alternatively, there could just be a rule that every THQ-related OP needs to have a disclaimer informing people of the 8chan situation but, in return, nobody is allowed to mention or discuss it in the rest of the thread (unless the thread is actually about the incident). That way you stop threads being littered with these kinds of posts without pissing off the people who want to inform others about what happened.

No one involved with making chicken at chick fil a has anything to do with anti-lgbt and actually using money for that, yet basically no one on era will support them.
Dude, I wish they dealt with that situation or even reacted to it, but I need some kind of proof that the money I give to THQ is going to directly harm somebody for that comparison to work. The guy did some fucked up shit, but later disavowed his actions and what 8chan stands for, so unless something else arises I don't see supporting these separate acquired developers as remotely similar to your example.

I was super excited until THQ Nordic did an AMA on a website hosting pedo content and interacted with people throwing pedo stuff.
Is it also going to make you boycott every living individual who worked their asses off to make the video game they wanted to? Ultimately the incident you mention was done by two idiots at the top of the publisher and they're only responsible for this product insofar as the publishing apparatus of the rest of their company is concerned. And okay I guess maybe more were invovled as some above posters suggest. Does that still mean the 100s of developers underneath them approved? I respect the decision but I don't find it entirely fair to all the developers who unfortunately got caught underneath that debacle.

I wonder if people would still be okay with that if they understood that it also means banning discussion on games like Shenmue 3.

Maybe people just need to chill and understand that one post per thread reminiscing that it's a game published by THQN, and the implications this has, is enough.

Is this UE4? Sure does have that bland look to it.

I was somewhat excited for this game but man that footage looks rough. The environment has no character at all...

Probably more of you complaining about it when it gets brought up than people talking about it. You all could learn to chill and just ignore it tbh. It's the biggest reason why the conversation even keeps going. If someone's breaking a rule report it, if not, get over it.

Game is looking pretty good. Wish I had some idea when it was coming out. Still seem to be sticking to this year.

I am interested. Just not to the point of supporting a company that do AMAs on pedo sites. Why are you so upset ?
I'm with you. The career of every person who worked on the game needs to be destroyed - maybe even their families put in jeopardy too. Can we get a Twitter hashtag started for that?

Uh, you really want to make it a contest ?
1. Did I say the devs should be punished ? No. I talked about the publisher.
2. Dont you think there are victims and families of victims destroyed by child exploitation and pedophiles ? Cause you know, that's what 8chan was sharing. Child pornography. And that's where THQ Nordic decided to make business. So I ask you one more time: Do you feel like it's worth making a comparison ?

As for the thread derail, this was caused by the people complaining about my opinion. Think of it next time.

As far as i know, the game has no active narrative. Just a bunch of stuff to explore and 'side missions' that may or may not be connected to each other just like a traditional mmo.

But since its single player only it can't be a mmo obviously.
This game doesn't have a story? That's kind of a bummer.

He's ignored now, but it obviously took up the focus of the thread (again) as I read through the comments.
It wouldn't have become the focus if people didn't feel the need to quote posts like that and complain about them. It's not difficult to ignore posts that you're not interested in, if people did that then the threads wouldn't get derailed and the reminder posts would still exist to remind people who maybe aren't aware of the situation with THQ.

It's honestly reassuring that, despite gaming press brushing it off like a bunch of effing cowards, there's people who care enough about child abuse and toxic behavior and their supporters, that even without any specific rule, there still is a warning and a reminder about it in every THQNordic game thread.

Yeah, I know buying and getting hyped about a game made by child rape supporters feels horrible, but kicking and screaming about not being reminded of it isn't gonna make you feel better. I wish this wasn't the case because I find this game damn interesting. But well: no real apology from THQ, no buy. It's simple as that.

Ok, and I'm sure they all high fived each other for being shitlords at the time. What I'm referring to is the comparison that this ridiculously stupid action has to actively harming the an entire community like the Chik Fil A thing. They apologized for their actions and condemned what that forum stands for, unless they start actively doing evil shit past that the comparison is off.

Can we make it mandatory to put a disclaimer on all games by THQN threads? Maybe only allow discussion of THQN's disgusting behavior in its own appropriate thread? It brings attention to the situation in every thread about THQN, and allows for proper discussion on the game without all the back and forth bickering that derails every thread while giving those that want to discuss the behavior of THQN their own place to do so. Should make everyone happy, I hope?

Yea there we didn't know a site blacklisted by Google was a bad place to host an Ama apology was real convincing

I'm starting to think some of you don't understand how egregious this event was

Lol as if people informing people about shitty THQN is what's making the discussion bad.

Go through the thread and count how many posts say nothing much more than "looks great!"

Yeah great discussion there.

I want to like this, like, I love the design/style of the protagonist, but gameplay wise I think I should hold off on reviews.
It just has a weird overall aesthetic though, like when people make videos of 'classic game in unreal engine'.

THQ Nordic can take a hike, as far as I'm concerned, but even so, the first five or so minutes of that video would have turned me off to the game with its narrator.

This game seems to be falling from my graces everytime i see it. I've seen this footage before and honestly I'm starting to feel like the narrator and narrative as a whole is feeling a bit cringy. There is poop joke humor all over this. Theres a narrator saying "chugga chugga choo choo" in a childlike affectation. It's kinda hard to swallow.

Actually this is the only place i see that still has every THQ thread derailed in one place or another. Other forums/communities not so much.

And as for the game, eh doesnt look like my cup of tea.

Lol of course not. Restricting discussion of this would be absolutely disgusting. THQN made themselves fair game with what they did, much like the WWE. You can ignore that aspect of discussion if you like. If discussion of the game is derailed with some people, oh well.

And the apology failed to address what 8chan is all about, failed to result in any consequences for the people involved who supported that site with full awareness, and continued to like pro-8chan Twitter posts.

Yeah, this is pretty much my stance. I can acknowledge that THQN's PR team fucked up, and active tried to market their content to a community founded on hate speech and harassment. But acting like that's representative of the entire company's stance is disingenuous, and there's no evidence of deeper ties to these communities.

Yea the support of pedophilia by the publisher turned me off to this game, would have been a purchase otherwise (pending general reviews). Some people can brush that off but you do you, I can't.

I will definitely look at this again if that situation changes though.

I think the game looks cool, and I like the narrator (feels like "and here we see them in their natural habitat" style shit).

I think its gross what THQ did previously and its a shame for the developers that are stuck working under the company.

The game keeps looking better. I'm excited to give it a try when it eventually releases.

I wish the narration wasn't there, and the onomatopoeia stickers that show up in some of the combat. If you're gonna do that idea, you have to fully commit to it like Sunset Overdrive did.

It's about shame about the THQN ties but what're you gonna do? Just up and leave the publisher whom you have a binding contract with? That's absurd. They would be litigated immediately, lose all funding, owe a bunch of money, and not even be able to release the game. For a mistake that two distant, almost entirely unrelated people had.

The narrator is what is ruining it for me. Hopefully there is an option to mutr or they can make it context sensitive by only being at the beginning of chapters, before important scenarios and such. God if I have to listen to that the whole game, it's a deal breaker.
