Mountains, lakes and forests in games are somewhat unique, yet always inviting. Let's dig up some examples!

I'd personally go with the best Donkey kong game Donkey Kong Country 3, taking place in a fictional Northern Europe/Canada (the Northern Kremisphere):

I enjoy High Hrothgar in Skyrim. It gives a cool view. This must be modded.

Definitely the Lake of Nine in God of War. It's a huge area, it's very interesting and fun to explore and it is beautiful:

In this last pic you actually see the Lake of Nine and the Midgard Serpent chilling at it at the foot of the mountain. :)

Ask Lake in Dark Souls comes to mind. I'm having a hard time thinking of a mountain area that I like a lot right now.

Valak Mountain from Xenoblade but you get no pics because a lot of people are going to get to play that game for the first time in a few months probably and I'm not spoiling any surprises if I can help it so srry bbyz

The pic doesn't show it the best but that's a lake down there. And a mountainous area beyond.

Fountainhead Palace in Sekiro.

Bloodborne's Moonlight Lake is incredible, visually.

It gets better than this, but I shouldn't say too much.

At the base of the mountain near where that screenshot was taken rests one of my favorite areas in the game, Lanayru Promenade, an ancient ruin built along the edges of a canyon lake. I just really dig the atmosphere there.

I like the Promenade conceptually, but I wish the visuals weren't so muddy.

Death Stranding has the best mountains in any game ever, and since the game does verticality so well, it's not even close. This is the only game I've ever played where climbing mountain actually feels like climbing a mountain.

I don't know if I can limit it to one particular area, but the mountains in Breath of the Wild were full of incredible little touches. The lovers lake, Mount Satori, the dead horse in the snowy mountains...one of few games where I can vividly recall points throughout.

If it's a question about beautiful environments, RDR2 is almost always going to be one of the top answers.
