Damn, this sucks. I hope he fully recovers, he's my second choice behind Warren, and he's done wonders in revitalizing the American left.

I hate this darkest fucking timeline.

I do not dare reading the thread, I can only take so many "JUST LET WARREN BE PRESIDENT, MOVE ASIDE OLD MAN" comments before I lose my sanity in the process. Fuck.
Honestly, this is genuinely problematic for the Sanders campaign IMO. It's not that I want him to step aside or anything, it's just that... this seems really serious. And if people are scared off from voting for Sanders because of this (which I don't blame them, as a Bernie supporter) then Warren is the next most obvious choice. It's a bummer, absolutely.

I wonder if he's on blood thinners. He probably is now. My grandmother was a Jehovah's Witness and had stints done instead of surgery because of the blood issue. They seemed to do the trick for her so hopefully he'll recover.

I have a lot of respect for his helping shift the Overton window leftward. Heart issues suck for anyone, but for someone putting in the work he has on his campaign it's especially sad. Hope he makes a full and speedy recovery.

Although this could have happend to any one of the 3 contenders all being over 70 years of age, its truly unfortunate that it happend to the Bern being my number 1 candidate(although anyone having a heart issue isnt good). But he's been going overdrive on his campaign in regards to stops and such, so he was also at the greatest risk. Overexerting yourself isnt good.

Like i said before, nothing is more important than health.

Whenever you get stents put in you have to be on blood thinner for a year minimum.

Really hope this isn't the end of his campaign

Warren would be a consolation prize at best

He should drop out. This isn't good. One of the main concerns I had with him running was his age and this basically proves my thoughts correct. I have the same fears for Biden as well. They are too old to lead the country.

Damn... Hope he gets well soon. Scary shit.

He may be good enough to campaign but it's not a good look. Can't help but think he will lose support.

Glad to hear he's doing well.

Politically I was pulling for Bernie but this will likely derail his campaign. I hope he throws in with Warren in some fashion and they tag team their way to the top. Get this man a cabinet seat.

Sanders: I have opened my heart for socialism. Now it is time for America to open its heart to socialism.

That tweet is suspiciously vague. "Blockage in one artery" and "chest discomfort" runs the gamut from fairly benign angina to full-blown heart attack. Whether or not that did any lasting damage in turn depends on what artery it is, the extent of the blockage and the duration of any ischemia caused by it.

At any rate, saying that a stent is a fairly uncomplicated and routine procedure is correct. But you shouldn't downplay it either. Having to get one by definition means that you had a fairly serious ailment to start with.

This could be nothing, or it could be the end of his campaign.

That's probably it for him. Regardless of what the actual severity is, you're not going to get a whole lot of people on board with electing an eighty year old with heart issues, and he was already fading back.

Now, whether or not he'll realize he's not going to win this time will be the question.

damn, hope he's alright and has a speedy recovery

and also that some people have some common decency and wait a little bit before pouncing on what I'm sure many will see as an opportunity

We will know what this is in due time. He has been fighting for the people for 40+ years, I really hope this wont be the end of the road for him. But my point is that it will be ultimately up for him and his doctor to decide this, not us.

Bingo. How many times does a patient get one stent and then another and then another before there's nothing to stent leading to CABG or simply medical management only while he deals with recurrent chest pain going forth.

^Edit: oh so it was a catheter procedure? If this wasn't a full on heart attack there shouldn't be a big recovery time then.

If this the start of the end of his campaign I hope he throws everything he has behind Warren.

The CNN article gives me hope with a couple of cardiologists saying they've had people with stents in and out the same day. She said she suspects Sanders could have a quick recovery, and this is a catheter based procedure, so it's not a surgery where they're cutting open his chest or anything.

Yea but the preceding incident of "chest pains" could easily have been a heart attack.

Damn.

This sucks and I hope he gets the recovery and rest he deserves. I hope he doesn't drop out if he doesn't want that and that he gets the strength he needs to overcome this.

Get well Bernie!

We understand, and while I still like Bernie far more than anyone else, I am very sad about this news.
Although I'm sure all the Warren supporters are having a grand old time with this news. I'm sure certain round pink characters are popping a champagne and dancing tonight.

It's Warren dude, no one else is even close. I just hope she will not be corrupted by all the super pac money she is going to be getting in the general and turn into Hillary lite.
Yeah, that's who I'd be leaning towards but I'll wait and see how things unfold.
