But he should endorse as many as possible, honestly, because people need to vote for someone. It not being practical on such a scale is another thing. Endorsing no one is absolutely a worse option than endorsing someone who is running who you can actually vote for, who can affect change

As many as possible!

Cenk should be part of the not possible

Not if his politics actually align, this is a bad faith post willingly missing the forest for the trees

Bad Faith how?

As I said earlier there are plenty of people running in other districts that align politically with Sanders that he has not endorsed, there will be many he'll never get around to doing so....

Side note you have accused three people now of bad faith in this thread... But at least you've moved away from endorsing is equal to not voting on election day.

TYT as a group is more of a force for good than bad, but Cenk himself as a public figure tends to exhaust me.

Too much of his humor reminds me way too much of the same content that Al Franken participated in alongside his political humor, and, well, we know how that turned out. If he was actually apologizing for this stuff and not doubling down on 'sexism is OK as long as it's not public' I'd be more willing to accept his run.

This is mostly a moot point anyway; I don't live in California.

Nonetheless I think the framing focusing on Sanders in this discussion is not being done as a matter of good-faith discussion, especially since TYT is a pretty significant lefty voice as a whole.

On the contrary, the thread exists because of Sanders's endorsement and continues the worrying pattern of Sanders making boneheaded, apparently loyalty-based decisions that reflect poorly on his judge of character.

Being a woman in politics must be the most emotionally draining thing ever. I hope the voters up north see through this guy's bs. Having leftist policies doesn't excuse you from being a misogynist.

I'm increidbly boggling is that Cenk is the 'you should be pragmatic" hill some folks want to defend, after lambasting 'centrists' for doing the same with people like Hillary and Biden.

Eh.

I literally had no idea this idiot decided to run for fucking office (best joke of 2019?) until it became a mainstream story with Sanders' endorsement.

TYT is at the end of the day still a fucking YouTube show

I'm not really a fan of internet personalities running for office, especially for goobers like Cenk who I find: not very smart, not likable, and very problematic.

Like let's narrow the focus to sexism and misogyny...

Claim: He's apologized so you can't use literally the endless amount of video that exists. He's changed

Except literally he's defending that kind of talk in an interview this week, he doesn't think it's wrong he just thinks it should be said just in private.

That's not he's changed, that he's a liar

Cenk: " Boys will consider having sex with their teacher a massive victory instead of being traumatized"

Also thinks kids should be drinking, smoking and fucking at 16

Also nice of Ana to jump in and say statutory rape isn't a violent crime.

Even if you can explain this away

Again this is just prime rib for ads lmao...

Notice how he goes out of his way to say teachers who fuck their students do it for attention, only when they're women. This is bullshit sexism of the more "benevolent" type, male teachers are rapists, female teachers are attention whores.

God, this guy is trash.

And, your absolutely right. Even if people really want to go all in on the apology angle or whatever, which isn't really accurate, but even if people find a way to spin this stuff, all the spin in the world won't stop this stuff from being blasted everywhere in ads regardless, and it will look absolutely horrible. You do not want to make it that incredibly easy for your opponent to cut ads, like it will be with Cenk.

Obviously, of course they'll come up with something regardless, but Cenk just hands it to them on a silver platter. That's typically the type of thing you want to avoid.

Blargh.

His views are WTF on their own but the extra layer of the reasons for Hill having to leave just makes it extra sickening

Like I said we could do this for days,, here's him saying he convinces Republicans to support campaign finance reform by promising to get Soros' money out of politics.

God, like what in the world... Imagine that on an ad: defending David Duke's anti-Semitic conspiracy theories.

Even if he finds a way to explain it, there's just so much of this stuff. So freakin' much. No way he could defend himself on all angles, on this, on the carpetbagging, on the Armenian genocide denialism, on the misogyny and sexism, etc, etc, all at once. Not all of them, not all at once.

Especially since there's kind of an infamous expression in politics "if you're explaining, you're losing." And there's a hell of a lot for Cenk to explain here.

Whereas for his opponent, all they have to do is cut ads with all this garbage and let them speak for themselves, much, much easier job compared to what he'll have to pull off.

Bad, bad, bad, bad.

And here's the thing it's pretty clear that whatever made him see women that way still lives in him, I'm sorry but you still see vestiges of a deeply sexist man, like legit, look how just this week he said he shouldn't be criticized for frank sexual talk and defends those college students still.... He has grown, obviously, but this shit is out there and sorry but some of it absolutely still lives in how he talks about sex and women.

Only gonna add fuel to the fire when Californians reject Cenk. All the Bernie supporters will bring out the old, tired "DNC is rigging it against Bernie!" bullshit.

In one of his writings around that time, he also talks about he has the right to be "unloaded" by the fifth date.

God, all this is terrible enough just on its own.

But then I remember the circumstances leading to this particular election, in this particular district, how the reason any of this was happening in the first place was because of a woman incumbent was done terribly wrong, was a victim of revenge porn and forced to resign and forced out of her district because of stuff like that of all things, and this is who's supposed to replace her?

Like I said, this stuff is bad enough on its own. But adding that on top of it... Just fuck all of this. No, no, no, no, no.

This is just legitimately infuriating to me. That he's so much of an entitled ass that he's waltzing into THIS particular district, of all 435 congressional districts (nevermind all the other political offices in the US, like mayoral, gubernatorial, Senate, state house, state senate, etc, etc, 435 federal congressional districts alone), he picks this one, and feels entitled to be its representative, despite why this election is happening in the first place, despite his own issues related to misogyny and sexism. So many options, if he's going to carpetbag anyway, the world's his oyster in that guy

Just fuck everything about this guy, honestly. Trash, trash, trash, trash, trash.

And again don't reply to me and tell me posting this is unfair or whatever. I'm demonstrating how much baggage he has. If I can find it in 5 minutes on Twitter.... Imagine what people with fucking staffs of people will do eh?

Pretty much. There's just so much out there on this guy, apparently, way beyond what I already knew. And whoever he ends up facing will be using every little bit against him, that's for sure, and they won't be doing it in a favorable light. This is what he has to deal with.

And they are of course his own words and actions, so he'll have no one to blame for it but himself, honestly.

CA-25 on the other hand deserves far better. And hopefully he loses the primary so none of this is an issue in the first place. But a major presidential candidate like Sanders waltzing into the race certainly makes that a lot harder than it needs to be, that's for sure.

Fuck you creep and your Micheal Bloomberg-ian vanity campaign

Also an endorsement from Nina Turner is nothing to brag about
People should be rightfully questioning him on his comments but to put him in the same category as Bloomberg is wrong. One is trying to bring progressive politics that will better the lives of the unrepresented vs a billionaire who is running for office because he wants to get rid of those very same progressive politics. Cenk has been politically entrenched in the progressive movement for years.

He's also not local, he's a fucking fly in trying to replace a woman who lost her seat due to revenge porn.

Like he's a dud

It's a jungle primary. From the article in the OP:
...fears that Uygur could split the Democratic vote and prevent any Democrat from making it through the all-party primary into the two-candidate runoff.
The seat only recently flipped Democratic. So the fear is that him even being in the primary could be bad.
