Ah yes, posting a youtube video from a human trafficker to make a point.
Human smuggling, not trafficking.

If someone is a fan of an anarchist do you expect them to care very much if that anarchist isn't a huge fan of borders? kinda comes with the ideology. Seems like a weak avenue of attack to me.

Thinking more on it now, Imma retract my "might be ok" post and just say that yeah, Sanders should tell Rogan to fuck off (should have told him to fuck off earlier and not go on his show in the first place but his campaign heads obviously pushed that). His campaign peeps are going to love this twilight today but we're already seeing tweets and posts showing Rogan's troublesome history and by tomorrow shit will get worse. End of the day, being "endorsed" by a know alt-right enabler and someone who is a personal friend to Alex fucking Jones isn't a good thing.

So Sanders would replace RBG with a Far Right Conservative?

He might replace her with his wife, or son, or some of his daffy staff. If his supporters are fucking vile enough to try extorting primary voters, what wouldn't he be expected to do for the "revolution"?

This is why Bern-dog's committed fans shouldn't try to justify mob tactics on primary voters

I like how you decry hyperbole and strawmanning and then do 2 paragraphs of it.
Please point out the hyperbole.

Intellecutally lazy: go look at literally any of his policy proposals. They're fucking trash.

Narcissism: He continually talks about only he and his core can build the movement. He's noted by his peers throughout congress for being intractable and unwilling to compromise, unwilling to even debate or discuss seriously alternatives to his chosen path.

OK with Bigots: See this, the Cenk endorsement, all the shitbags that emerged from under the tent when they folded up his 2016 campaign.

Indoctrinated? What are you even talking about, I agree with you about Bernie, I don't particularly like any of the candidates tbh.
So why the false equivalence earlier in the thread, and now here acting like Sanders has no responsibility to at least challenge his supporters to be better people?

So it's the voter's (and Bernie's) fault that the Democratic party has policies that people don't want?
Literally the entire fucking purpose of a representative republic is for politicians to understand these issues better than the average voter, and to then educate the average voter on that topic.

Not to go out and just tell people whatever the fuck it is they want to hear.

It isn't Sanders' fault that most people are ignorant as to the real effects of international trade deals.

His own lack of understanding is his fault, especially as he's a politician with more access to the research than the average person and is paid to understand it.

Its also his fault for running around the country spreading isolationist propaganda to vulnerable people in an attempt to win a primary he wasn't mathematically going to win even months before then.

He didn't care about or was oblivious to the damage he was doing, and he clearly doesn't care to actually understand the long term positives of international trade.

But Trump got rid of NAFTA and took an axe to the rest of our international economic presence, so conveniently for Sanders he doesn't need to talk about it anymore.

You think the Senate would approve of any of those?
And how are people being EXTORTED?

Listen to yourself man

Thread reopened.

Reminder that Joe Rogan has said indefensible, bigoted things and that while you can discuss the merits of the endorsement (keep disagreements civil) and what it means for Bernie Sanders' campaign, defending Rogan's bigotry in itself remains against our rules.

Bernie once again proving he's not the savior his supporters claim him to be.

Dude is a low key racist (and sexist) that blames civil rights issues on class warfare.

He's stood for good things and done good things but he's no saint. I trust Biden more even if he's kind of a dirty uncle.

And we're back! I don't have room in my heart for Rogan, but I will take a chud-adjacent endorsement of socialist politics over resigned triangulation.

This incident shouldn't cause people to believe Bernie's not on the side of trans folks like me. Rogan is an ignoramus but he can be persuaded.

What poisonous conversation from some of you , that we needed a STAFF post to outline those specific things... ugh
Privileged people telling marginalized people that Joe Rogan isn't that bad, mostly.

And not being able to comprehend that accepting and parading an endorsement from a bigot like Rogan isn't a good look if you're not going to make any attempt to rehabilitate the fragile and hateful cis gender, straight white crowd he mostly appeals to or challenge the rhetoric they're constantly fed by him and his guests.

Such a dumb move from his campaign to amplify the endorsement. Any Rogan fans already knew he said he's voting for Bernie & saw that interview with him. All this does is alienate people.

Rogan is great. Top podcasts. He has every right to share his opinion.

And if y'all being realistic endorsing it is a no brainer even if you all hate him.

Here's the thing, I'm pretty sure Bernie and his people weighed the support they would lose vs what they would gain and figured they would come out ahead. Make of that what you will.

Let's be honest, just about anything will alienate the Dems at this stage. The next few months are only going to get worse.
100% this as well.

Perfection.

If a homophobe wants to vote for a champion of gay rights, let him. Its when the champion deliberately weakens their own standing to appeal to the homophobe that a problem arises (something many Democrats, especially centrists, are all too willing to do). But that didn't happen here, Bernie doesnt do that. (Which ironically(?) is the reason Rogan sorta kinda endorsed him).

Signal boosting is... idk how to feel about that. Kinda gross. Probably shouldn't have done that. But, again, as long as his actual political beliefs and actions are in tact, I'd say it's at least a forgivable offense.

And another goddamn thing.

Even John racist-ass McCain had the testicular fortitude to tell one of his own potential constituents to her face to shut up and sit down in regards to calling Obama a Muslim.

John-fucking-McCain.

He is the standard y'all are insisting Democrats cannot and should not live up to.

It is clown shoes for real.

McCain basically said "Obama is not a Muslim, he's a family man" implying being a Muslim is a bad thing.... same thing goes for Obama when he denied being a Muslim. The correct response to calling Obama a Muslim is not "no he's not", its "so what?".

Rogan is a douche but you know what Rogan also has a huge audience and if he can sway some potential Trump voters to vote for Bernie then by god I'm all for it. A vote is a goddamn vote. And Bernie needs to come out swinging in the Primaries.

Rogan is the #1 ranked podcast in the world and I don't think anyone who is somewhat interested in politics, sports, or drugs (lol) isn't familiar with Rogan or his show. I don't think he is signal boosting him at all. Sanders however, is definitely going to be signal boosted because maybe a lot of Rogan's listeners aren't familar with his politics and ideals.

Completely unnecessary and insensitive tweet. Rogan was already spreading this message on his own platform anyways.

Sure, I will admit that McCain did not have the best response. The point was that he had a response at all and was, to some degree, intent on not consciously engaging in or stoking racism.

Granted, he lost, so maybe Bernie fans have a point. Maybe having integrity in regards to the concerns of black and brown folks being targeted during campaign season really is anathema to winning a coveted seat.

with an audience that likely contains almost zero registered Dems, let alone ones who'll show up and vote in a primary?

How is this going to keep him from getting fucking bodied in the south? Tom Steyer spent the last couple months carpet bombing South Carolina with ads and polling shows that he basically took a big chunk out of Sanders, with very little hit to Joe Biden.

Beyond that, Sanders claims he's going to build an organized movement across the country if nominated and wins, yet takes an endorsement like this unchecked. How's that going to work? If you're popular enough you get a seat at the table free of criticism?

"win over reactionaries by becoming reactionaries" is just straight up "the anti-racists are just as bad as the racists" crap.

Like I've mentioned elsewhere, I'm trans. I look down on Rogan and his fans. He's a doofus dudebro but I think his audience can at least relate to wanting free healthcare and free education. Let's not read this act by Bernie too harshly in light of the potential greater good.

Exactly, it was a lose-lose. They already doubled down after their national press secretary made a statement, & now they're directly getting called out by the HRC's president to reconsider the promotion.

Just baffling how they go from posting an endorsement from Barbara Smith to...Joe Rogan. It just feels like it's undermining Bernie's decades long history of being on the right side of LGBTQ+ issues for the most part.

I still see Sanders as being on my side. Political realities mean even the best candidates are going to have hiccups.

The woman referred to Obama as an Arab (I'm sure the idiot uses both terms interchangeably). I remember people in the media and elsewhere using this moment to show how McCain was a good person when he died. I was left perplexed as to how so many people could over look the anti-Arab/anti-muslim swerve he casually makes.
