Maybe I'm dumb but if it supported 4K why wouldn't it have supported 1440p?
IIRC PS4 Pro defaulted to 1080p when connected to a 1440p monitor.

I agree that it will be very rare and probably non existent in a few years but this year's COD will supposedly run at 4k/120 and I expect the odd indie title to as well.Yes, that's what I think would be the most likely scenario, but I'd like this to be confirmed. But I don't think we will see any or many 4k120fps games.
yeah like i said it would be good but i'm not expecting it.Many TVs have 1440p modes.
This allows for 120hz support beyond 1080p, and does not require HDMI 2.1.
if PS5 doesn't support 1440p output, these users will only be able to play 120hz games at 1080p.
I hope so, as that's the monitor I have.So if I would get LG 27GL850-B and use it on the ps5 could I play 1440p with 120hz?
I barely see the difference between 1440p and 4k with my setup, I don't think I will go for 4k focused PC build anytime soon and I probably would have gotten benefits for other stuff by sacrificing on the resolution.
Does this mean my TCL series 6 2020 model can take advantage of this? Does this also mean i should get ps5 multiplats instead of xbox series x if im buying both? I need halp.
All consoles were (Are?) like this. TVs don't come in 1440p so no real reason to add that.I only have a base ps4, so never knew. That's terrible of Sony tbh.

Never going to happen.
I played most of PS3 gen, all of PS4 gen on a PC monitor and plan on going the entire PS5 gen on a monitor too 😥All consoles were (Are?) like this. TVs don't come in 1440p so no real reason to add that.
I'm guessing your monitor accepts a 4K input and Downscales.when I use my 1440p monitor with my ps4 pro the 4k option on the ps4 is selectable.
Have gamed on monitors since the PS360 era. I'm not the only one, so seems kinda shitty to me not to support this if the console can handle 4K.All consoles were (Are?) like this. TVs don't come in 1440p so no real reason to add that.
Same, waiting for that 4k, 120Hz(+), HDMI 2.1 monitor with good HDR, before I jump into next-gen.I played most of PS3 gen, all of PS4 gen on a PC monitor and plan on going the entire PS5 gen on a monitor too 😥

It literally says "we expect". Not confirmed but why wouldn't the PS5 support 1440P?
Because the PS4 and Pro didn't, and so far Sony hasn't confirmed for PS5, whereas MS has.It literally says "we expect". Not confirmed but why wouldn't the PS5 support 1440P?
