Hey everybody two days late, but crazy how time flies. Remember the pay to win abilities through loot boxes, to the dry spots where no content was coming out to now present day.
We have brand new
maps (9 new maps)
game modes ( 5 new game modes)
heroes (6 new heroes)
brand new eras (clone wars, Han Solo, Star wars: Last Jedi)
New specialist characters
New skins
New emotes and voice lines
New vehicles
New offline modes
New progression system
Plus new content coming out still based around Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker

I'll update this thread with new bits here and there.
But I think we should celebrate the amazing turn out for battlefront 2 has.

This and Rainbow Six: Siege were the biggest turnarounds this gen

You should all try this game. Amazing turnaround, and there's lots of content now, with more to come once TROS releases.

I really liked what I played of it. The attention to detail in its visual and audio design is surreal, just like in the first one. Kinda want to dip back into it, but man that install size is no joke. They never did bring local co-op to PC, right? That was one of my hopes they'd do in this one.

I was really excited for this game. Then I got it and played through the single player and thought it was middling as heck. And by that point the 'controversy' was at its peak and I just bounced off the game so hard when I looked at the locked characters and opened my first few boxes of disappointment. Good to hear that things turned around but I just haven't been willing to go back to the game even knowing that, and that's without even getting into the completely separate disappointment that was the 2015 game which was enough SW disappointment for one gen.

Man I said the word disappointment a lot there huh.

I played a LOT during the first year, really enjoyed it and would even open the game once a day to get the loot chest (that stopped recently so I stopped running the game daily).

After finished Jedi Fallen Order this weekend I booted up BF2 and played for an hour, I really really enjoyed it. Its a good game. I'm sure there are balance issues (always were), progression problems, and all those kind of little things that add up in a multiplayer game but for someone to just jump into a 40 player mode or heros vs villains and fuck around for a game or two, its really fun and very good "Star Wars feel".

I played it again for the first time since release basically, about a month and a half ago. I'm still not entirely enthralled with some of the elements of it, but I'm not going to pretend like it wasn't a vastly improved experience. I had quite a bit of fun with it, though there are still some weird design choices and to often it can feel like you're just funneling into a meat grinder and hoping to break through the other side before your numbers run out. But what's there and what works well works really well.

Overall an exceptional turnaround. Hopefully the lessons learned here will mean that a potential new entry will start off in an incredibly good place.

Not going to discredit the game for releasing all of this content and making a comeback after a disastrous launch, but it really does speak volumes of how much better it is to release a full product at launch than to play catch-up after the fact. I see all of these add-ins and I'm still feeling lukewarm because the memory of the launch is still in my mind. The backlog is deep. The available hours are limited. The motivation to reinstall and return is low. Shame it couldn't release with all of this at launch.

I'm serious considering picking this up as it's on sale on PSN. I guess lots of people still play it online?
How's the campaign?

I can't remember right, so correct me if I'm wrong, but does it still lock you out of earning credits after playing a mode for awhile in real time like a mobile game does?
Also are loot boxes gone completely?

I liked battlefront 1, but all the negative reception around this caused me to not want to play it.

Been playing the co op stuff the last few days and having a great time. I've played on and off over the two years and generally am entertained. Wish the load times weren't an eternity though.

An absolute disappoinment at launch, now a truly great game. Amazing turnaround indeed. Everybody should try it now, it's really really good.

Still fundamentally terrible to me, I'm afraid. It started off as a super shallow experience you need to pay to get more of, and is now a super shallow experience you have a lot of content for. I haven't felt Dice has made a genuinely good game since Battlefield 4.

I dont know why but I hate the battlefront 2 maps. The maps of battlefront looked somehow more realistic and detailed and were so much more fun to play in multiplayer.

So good. Been a few months since I've played but I think I'm gonna dive back in once I finish Fallen Order.

I'm a bit sad because, despite the amount of support and new content we've gotten in the last two years, the core gameplay is still super boring. I want to enjoy this game, I really do, but I can't connect with it.

It looks great but it's boring to play imo. None of the weapons feel like they have any impact.

No one plays this on xbox. Gamepass ultimate subscribers manage to get one month of ea access but no one appears on xbox... such a shame.

Been an interesting journey, more to come next month too.

Fun fact, I was reading this thread while listening to Anthrax's Among the Living, and the tempo of this gif synced to it nearly perfectly, making it probably the most metal Star Wars gif of all time through context.

On topic: I need to play the game again, I own it on the X, and I enjoyed what I played, but I bought the game to play it with my wife and daughter, and then they basically never wanted to play it, leaving it played very little lol.

Yea, the gunplay feels sloppy as hell

If they amped up the visceral nature of the actual battles it would be amazing.

Like I can think of hundreds of times I've played Battlefield and you're standing in a half blown up building smoke and gunfire everywhere. It feels exhilarating.

Battlefront feels too 'clean' and neutered not sure if that's Lucasfilm not wanting things to get too Dicey in regards to actual battles.

Fantastic game. I bought it at launch and have played it a ton. It looks incredible on the Xbox One X, sticking close to 60 FPS and routinely hitting full 4K. The support has been excellent as well. Over 2 years of additional patches and content.

I love it, really good experience. It came around very well despite the bad launch.
Much better game than BFV will ever be :(

Battlefront 2 is fun, It's a good game especially for 5 bucks and nowadays they just give for free all the content they used to charge for either in-game currency or real money.

That said the jankyness on that game is huge, almost like the one on Warframe but Warframe is f2p.

I played it a few months ago and had a really great time, especially playing Heroes VS Villains. If you can get it cheap, go to town with it, very fun and just silly time.

Its great and Co-Op has made it really fun but I feel like theres not a lot of people playing it. Right now you can get a lot people on Wed because is double XP all day but play any other day and It can take 10-15 min to get a match and play Co-Op or Starfighter on PS4.
Maybe its time to go F2P after Episode 9 content?

Co-op is kinda whatever and Starfighter assault hasnt gotten any love since TLJ dlc, which is more than likely the reason why they arent populated that much. The other modes are pretty easy to find matches in though, especially the larger game modes.

I got it for cheap when the Capital Supremacy mode released, since that mode is closer to what I liked in the OG Battlefront games. It's fantastic. The only things keeping me from regularly playing is how long it takes to load up a game for me. Maybe that's a problem with my base PS4 or external HDD though.

It's my comfort food game. I can always load it up, and have a blast. It's with Siege and NMS as the biggest turnaround this generation.
