Read through the notes, did they say anything about loadouts missing at the start of the match? That is the main issue I'm having with the game ATM.

Didn't see any proximity sensor changes. I was hoping at least the 3D icon would be removed and just keep the pings on the radar.

That's an interesting take. Yeah I havent unlocked the cooler higher level skins. I'm only something like L34 and havent stuck to an individual specialist long enough to unlock the better stuff. Getting real close on wallhack lady. Just need 30 more assists and I get her mask.

Paik's first skin unlock with the camo and blue mask is incredible, definitely one of my favorite skins in the game so far, shame the helmet does not pair well with any of her other oufits currently lol, you can do some fun mix and match with alot of the outfits to create a more unique outfit.

Falck I normally run the black mask/goggles from her blast suit with the trihex outfit for a more stealthy dark outfit look.

Big patch dropping when FFXIV is down for expansion launch prep? Nice timing :D

Basically the last time I'm going to remember that BF2042 exists this year.

Given the onslaught of poor reviews and player retention struggles, you wonder what this game will look like by then. Last time I looked BF2042 was getting close to falling out of the top 50 played on Steam and you can't find a full game in Portal on PS5 without crossplay.

Seems strange too me that a sniper rifle outdamages a rocket but I'm no military expert.

Eh it's a video game, AT rifles are not super effective vs modern tanks, but an AT rocket is also not that effective vs infantry like it is in the game.

From a design point you make huge sacrifices to take the AT rifle at the cost of your main weapon, where the AT rocket is just an extra option, so it makes sense that it does some serious damage.

And those videos are super misleading, you will realistically never get a bunch of point blank shots to the back of a tank to take it out that fast in game.

Im excited for the polish stuff in this patch. Seems like there will be a huge amount of polish regarding UI, sounds, animation, gfx etc

I also wish we at least had alternate skins for that old medic lady. I dont like Angel's character design much either. These specialists just seem rather rushed to me as a whole. Specialists would be much better if we had better custiomization but game released bare bones in that regard. I feel like DICE was mandated to add them last minute or something.
*Note- I'm talking the character design itself being awful for most of'em. Purely on Art level. Need more variations. Different people or generic soldier visual options
I think people would rage twice as hard if we started getting paid outfits and stuff before fixing the very significant bugs still present.

Talking about cosmetics it's still weird and sad for me how large majority of ALL skins are tied to general rank progress, with most at 60+.

That shit should be tied to performance with specialists, weapons and vehicles.

Yeah not a great unlock system for sure, although it does maybe give some incentive to try a new specialist when you unlock a new outfit lol. Thinking they wanted to have something ever level and content was coming in a little light weapon wise at launch so they had to spread it out.

Yeah it was one of the first things I noticed. Not only are there way less camo options compared to something like Battlefield 4 for characters and weapons, but the overall unlock system is primarily tied to levels rather than usage of something.

I feel like the Tier system was supposed to have unlocks for each Tier you complete, but they probably didn't have time so they only did Tier 5 and Tier 1 with some things having a Tier 4 unlockable cosmetic as well. Even looking at the color schemes of each Tier being Bronze, Silver, Platinum+Copper(?), Black+Gold then Black+Red gives me the impression these were all supposed to be cosmetic skin colors for weapons.

That aside I'm curious to see how these weekly missions will look and what rewards will be given for them. I wish they went into more detail for it instead of a simple line in the patch notes but we'll see for ourselves tomorrow anyways.

Oh it's very much not realistic. But Sundance defy the law of physics with the wingsuit, Dozer shield can withstand a direct hit from a tank shell, you can fly a transport chopper with a tank on it..

So I really only speak about it from a design/balance standpoint. To the question "why would I use the NWT-50 rather than a better primary weapon + M5", the only answer I can come up with is : because it does better damage to vehicles. If it didn't have that edge, there would be no good reason to ever use it rather than say a SVK+M5 loadout.
And I'm only pushing the NWT-50 vs M5 comparison there. I would argue that Sundance + C5 or Casper Drone + C5 are the most unbalanced threats to tanks in the game.

So glad to have the flare fix, that shit made jets a slog just constantly dieing to unavoidable missiles, F-35 repair fix as well!

Allowing restock on 40mm grenades is amazing, that was a huge miss before, will make my ammo box load outs more viable being able to hit vehicles more with those suckers lol.

So many great changes overall, hoping the Rao change helps alot with hacking, so many times I have died to a twig stopping my hack and a vehicle exploding me.

So that's what was getting me in my jets. I was like where tf are all these missiles coming from.

Yeah it was insane, missiles just circling in place then relocking and insta killing you once flares wore off, you have to flare the second you start getting locked atm, if they get lock you are already dead.

What's the best way to take out those nightbird helicopters from the ground? That recoiless rocket launcher ain't it

Use the FXAA launcher, go Sundance or Rao, anti armor nade and make them flare, or mask your rocket with the tone, Rao can hack then lock if they stay close.

Discarded on Breakthrough has to be the most fun that i've had on this game

Feels like you can really make a difference in infantry, taking B1/B2 is so much fun as well because everyone is huddled together and while the framerate might be 40fps, it still feels good haha

Having a blast with some of my close friends. We have different gaming tastes but we all agree on our love for some Battlefield. Even tough there are issues sometimes this game can be really cool. I love how we just played a long session on 2042 maps and then someone mentions that there's portal and we jump to some BF3 / BC2 mix. Soo cool!

Looking forward for the new patch. And very curious of what the future of 2042 might hold.

I'm kind of temped to get it despite all the bad press and issues. I haven't played BF since 4. I might wait another couple of patches to reassess the situation. Having both the option for PS5 and XSX, it seems that PS5 has less issues at least for now. Is that the better choice even if VRR is not a thing (I have a 55CX)?

Have Gamepass? EA play should have a 10 hour trial so you can check it out first.

The game went down to $47 during the Black Friday sales, if there are more sales at the end of this month it'll probably show up and both December patches will be out by then. In my opinion it's more than worth it in the $40 price range if you can wait and see if it drops in price again. I play on PS5 and haven't really had any issues outside of the launch period persistence data and the revive bug which has been fixed but I cannot speak to the experience on XSX.

As you mentioned you haven't played since BF4, that means you didn't get used to the infantry-focused nature of 1 and V that I think a lot of people are having issues adjusting away from (it even took me a while to adjust). BF2042, to me personally, is like BF4 on steroids with its vehicle warfare and the gadgets they give you to take them down.

Dang I need to practice tossing things on Caspers drone. I'm using him poorly

I'm having a blast but I play on PC. Like you, my last BF was BF4. Skipped bf1 & BFV

im very happy about the update tomorrow, but speaks volumes about how much they are having to resolve after launch. And its not even everything. No mention of performance issues or memory leak.

Odd, should be an option for "Free Trial with EA Play" next to the choose edition button.

Found it, thanks! They are sneaky, if I select the main BF2042 banner in the store, the trial option is not available, but if I do manual search and select BF 2042 then the trial button shows up. Downloading now. Let's see how bad it is.

My general experience with the game has been frustration. I think he game proves that bigger really does not equal better, the sheer amount of players and size of the maps really means you can not, except for very focused smaller engagements, account for someone from any angle killing you.

The proliferation of anti tank weapons and number of vehicles in the game makes them feel less meaningful to the course of a game, not more. Besides silly situations where people manage to get tanks onto skyscraper roofs in hourglass.

Overall it's a less focused game where it feels like nobody has defined roles, so nobody can be relied on to heal or resupply and any adventures in vehicles are terminally short lived.

Compared to BF3 or 4 the fun factor is way, way less.

I do wonder what kind of discussions DICE is having about the player feedback regarding maps, seems like it is largely negative and I would have to agree; the best maps in my opinion (for conquest mode) are Breakaway, Discarded and Manifest but even those are just "okay". I imagine work on the season pass maps is already well underway but I'm hoping they're taking the response to the current maps into consideration moving forward.

I think a lot of the capture points themselves are pretty bland and not that exciting to fight in. Kaleidoscope has some of the most uninteresting points, just pristine, wide-open parks. Like, if the data center in Kaleidoscope is so important to the USA, then why are there zero signs that the military had any presence there? It would be way more fun fighting for the B points if there was like a little military outpost with tents/sandbags/fortifications in place to provide cover for players to actually move and make flanking maneuvers. As is, so many capture-points have little to no structures or natural terrain to allow such play, so everyone ends up hunkered down behind the one rock outcropping/bush/tiny hill until a little bird comes in and deletes everyone there.

My other gripe is the large distances between sectors. It seems like the devs thought "oh, when players finish capping this sector they'll just call in some vehicles and everyone will catch a ride to the next sector" but in reality you have four dude call in jeeps, take off on their own with no passengers, and the other 20 dudes at the point are just left to hoof it across open barren terrain until they're sniped/blown-up/run over.

Pretty much. There's still some fun to be had but I'm hoping in the future they add some smaller more traditional style maps. I don't feel connected to my team in the same way I did in previous games.

I think the rooftop points on Breakthrough really highlights some of the drawbacks of the open-ended game design. It just becomes this impossible obstacle where everyone can gear up to resist absolutely anything. When you can even call in a large tank in front of an elevator door I'm not sure what to feel really. And trying to move over there with a transport heli is just not possible when absolutely anyone can carry anti-air.

For sure. I think they should have taken a note out of Division in terms of building atmosphere (and cover) with trash, signs everywhere, broken vehicles and so on.
