FINALLY.

Apparently these movies haven't had a new transfer done in nearly 20 years (the DVDs and Blu-rays appear to have been pulled from the same source but I may be mis-remembering things) so I have high hopes that these will blow all previous releases out of the water... or, at least, I hope they do given Universal's recent 4K output of their catalog titles.

The Blu-rays from a decade ago were billed as "all-new restorations".

I'll get this collection, I hope the 4K remaster is good.
Box art is alright. Would be cool if they did a lenticular cover that transitioned between all 3 of the movie posters.

The individual steelbook covers are cool but... nobody ever positions their movies like that :| The main box art is terrible.

Is it just me or have 4K BD box-arts in general been pretty bad?

Loved this trilogy growing up. Would always want to watch them if they were on TV. Will wait for reviews to see if it's a good buy.

The latest Netflix versions appear to be the new transfers for those curious. Obviously streaming has compression issues, so it's not totally accurate to what the discs will show.

Been waiting to order this. Though to decide between the steelbook and the Giftset because that levitating hoverboard is pretty damn awesome.

Uranus, get it?!? YOUR. ANUS.
I don't know. I'm guessing you think I'm a woman so it probably changes the context a lot. But I'm a dude, so that changes things. A guy being called a catch is flattering, but the standard is probably different for women in general. But then again, I'm fairly certain the only reason that I was a catch in the first place was because of the presumed woman-ness and the idea that they don't like "guy stuff" and any woman into "guy stuff" is to be commended. But I'm just a guy so I'm not so sure anyone would call a guy a catch for being into BTTF because that's not considered odd. In any case the dynamic of the situation here is really interesting to me.

I made no assumptions in my head regarding that, cross my heart! I was just paying a compliment cause Back to the Future is dope, and you like it (and that's not exclusive to guys or gals or anyone else), and I hope your husband one day recognizes the skills.

Laserdisc had 2, and one in HD on hivision muse disc.
They had 2 dvd masters, the BD was shocking the DCP was decent.
There is a new Netflix master, but this doesn't mention a new master and just stupid remixed audio, 10+ is nice to have.
This has been a total write off on home video post laserdisc and the second dvd.
No Struzan cover is a mistake also.

Does preordering movies on amazon work just like games where you're not charged until it ships?

So, the steelbooks are Best Buy exclusive. And amazon has an exclusive, too. Great Scott! Guess I'm buying a ton of BTTF

Is anyone else here old enough to remember when the BttF trilogy first came out on DVD? There was a printing error that resulted in BttF 1 having an incorrect aspect ratio due to open matte weirdness, and we had to mail in our discs to get a replacement. Fun times!

I thought it was the sequels that had the incorrect framing. I'm specifically remembering caps of Marty on the flying Delores after jumping off Biff's casino.

I have the movies on VHS, DVD and BluRay and I will for sure buy this.
Although I don't have a 4k TV or UHD Player yet 😅
The Steelbook Edition would be great but that Hoverboard replica is too tempting. Amazon Germany has not listed any of these sets yet. I hope we get them too.

You may be right, I can't recall specifically. I just remember how disappointed I was and having to explain to my parents (who were still in "why do they have black bars on the screen?" mode) why we needed to send them back.

In case anyone is having trouble deciding which version to get, it looks like you can buy the hoverboard separately:

neolevtech.com

Neolev® Technologies Miniature Hover Boards

The NeoLev® Hoverboard is a sub-scale miniature hovering board without wheels, similar to what you may have seen in the movies. Yes, it actually hovers!

Why? You can get a decent standalone for under $200.
Mainly space plus I already have one, also when I looked a month ago they are pretty much sold out around my area. I'm only recently really going into collecting 4k's so I'm still learning out about everything, don't know much about the stand alone players.

Any confirmation that the Blu-ray discs are using a new encode from the remaster, or are they just reprints of the old BD release?
