So I just had this bit of PR drop into my inbox.

Love losing yourself in a great story? Love playing games on Nintendo Switch? Then you'll be psyched to hear that inkle is bringing two of their acclaimed narrative games to the Nintendo eShop:

  • 80 Days -- a steampunk reimagining of Jules Verne's classic, penned by celebrated narrative designer Meg Jayanth (Sunless Sea, Sable) -- will hit the Nintendo eShop on October 1.
  • Heaven's Vault -- an open world archeological adventure with an entire ancient language to decipher -- will arrive on Nintendo Switch in early 2020.

About 80 Days
Winner of the IGF's Excellence in Narrative award, named one of 2014's top video games by Time magazine, and recipient of four BAFTA nominations, 80 Days mixes old-school text adventures with strategic board games and RPGs to create a vast and infinitely replayable interactive story.

Playing as the French valet Passepartout, use strategy and cunning to help Phileas Fogg win a hefty bet before the clock runs out. Choose your route, manage your finances, interact with hundreds of diverse characters, see the world, and lose yourself in this massive, branching adventure as you attempt to circumnavigate the globe in eighty days -- or faster!

80 Days has been fully optimized for Nintendo Switch, with every part of the user interface redesigned or reconsidered for play with either Jon-Con controllers or touch screen functionality. It also has resizable text for comfortable reading in both handheld and docked modes. This definitive version includes all of the content incrementally added to the adventure since 80 Days' initial release: find the lost city of Atlantis, join a North Pole expedition, go over Niagara Falls, team up with notorious jewel thief the Black Rose, and even journey to the moon!

About Heaven's Vault
Honored by the Guardian as one of the best games of 2019 so far, Heaven's Vault is an ambitious open-world adventure with a massive branching storyline and an entire lost language to decipher.

You are archeologist Aliya Elasra, on a mission with your robot assistant Six to track down a missing academic who has left a trail of ancient relics in his wake. Sail to the far reaches of the Nebula to solve a historical mystery that can only be understood by translating the long-lost language of Aliya's ancestors -- a massive linguistic puzzle that will reveal the region's earliest secrets to those who manage to crack it.

But your translations could be wrong, and you'll never know. Heaven's Vault adapts with a story that seamlessly, fluidly reflects your choices -- a story that will be different for every person who plays it.

Heaven's Vault is legitimately one of the best games of the year and a major GOTY contender. It has also been criminally underlooked. Play it!

Heaven's Vault is one of the better games I've played this year and I've heard really good things about 80 days.

Nice to see that more people will be able to play them.

I recently played through 80 days again after a few years away. Still an absolute treat. It's a fantastic game and a really cool experience -- hopefully they don't try and charge some ridiculous price for it though. If it was $5 on iOS, it should be $5 on Switch -- maybe $10 I suppose. But putting it out at something like $20 is asking for it to die.

I have a lot of love for Inkle on a personal level, but also a ton of a respect on a professional level. Top people. This is great news.

inkle is a great dev. i wish their sorcery series was coming over too :(

Goddamn it, yes. Possibly never due to licensing (at a guess), but I'd happily double dip on a complete version on Switch.

they're such perfect games for a phone so i'm not too mad, but it'd for sure be great if more people (specially those who don't like phone games) got to play them.

Absolutely - I also kinda treat it the same way as the Reigns games; they're wonderful for phone but the 'big screen' + gaming library flexibility of Switch just feels perfect.

Now the idea has taken root in my head... I may need closure...!

I'm surprised that this got announced now since it seems to be prime Nintendo Direct material. Nevertheless, I'm glad to see Inkle games on more platforms.
