I love how the MCU has slowly but surely indoctrinated casual movie goers to all the usual comics bullshit

I love it

I wonder if the time skip to 2023 is a sign they are going to avoid earth based movies set after Endgame until we actually reach 2023 or if the MCU is just gonna be set 5 years in the future from now on.

Obviously Spiderman is happening in a few months but other then that most the rumored / announced movies are set in space or the Widow prequel or weird shit like the eternals.

Black Panther 2 and Doctor Strange 2 are both confirmed. Doubt they will be prequels.

So much to think over. Just reading this thread makes me go "oh right, that happened in the movie. Oh yeah, that happened, too."

Just curious, with past Thanos learning about the future events couldn't he just stick with his current timeline and change the snap in his timeline?

Or was he unaware of the stones being returned back? Or was it greed that all stones would be collected already?

I could have sworn I heard Robert Redford retired from acting a couple of years ago.

Midgar, With Love
That was pretty good. It didn't really turn me around from feeling utterly fatigued but it was a worthy sendoff overall. This is almost certainly where I get off this train with the exception of Guardians 3 but I've made some fun memories along the way.

Steve and Peggy forever!

Just saw it today, loved the movie! I do have a burning question though, one which has undoubtedly been asked somewhere in the previous 147 pages- is it no big deal to just hold an infinity stone in your hand anymore? Both hulk and Hawkeye do this in this movie, and as I recall from GotG, even touching one of those things should kill most people, right? Maybe not Thanos, but surely the bow-and-arrow guy.

Also thought it kinda made the actual infinity gauntlet seem a little less special when you learn that those things can be slapped into just any old glove. Stones got nerfed, yo.

My biggest takeaway from Endgame is that a motivated yet stoneless Thanos wipes the floor against the Avengers. Which sorta explains Strange's plan (there was no chance they could beat Thanos with 4 Infinity stones and Stark surviving was paramount)
Unless he met a severely pissed off Scarlet Witch. She slapped the shit out of him.
Most satisfying bit of action in the film, by the way.

I don't think think there anything in the movie making possible to travel between parallel timelines through the quantum realm. Only back in time and back in the present in the same timeline. That's why I don't buy the idea that old Cap just travelled back after Peggy's death.

Watching Avengers 1 on USA:

Cap to Tony: "You're not the type to make the sacrifice play."

Strange has so much untapped material given his solo film kept it as a light introduction, and cool as he was in IW/Endgame, he wasn't the focus nor was his section of the Marvel universe. His sequel can easily pick up in 2023 when he's back in business after being gone for five years.

Just saw the movie and loved it but I have two major gripes.

Two hype moments that get kinda ruined

When Caps yells Avengers and then just whispers assemble...Come on!!!! Hes leading an army! He should've yelled that shit as loud as possible

Caps lifting the Mjolnir was hype but it was kinda spoiled when Vision lifted it as a joke in AoU.

I think Tchalla taking the co-lead from now is definitely happening. There's no one else who can replace Tony's worldwide influence, his benefactor status, and the tech (via shuri). The question is who gets to be the other co lead? Strange? Or Carol? Carol's issue is she got s lot other things to look after so can't be based around earth all the time.

Gotta be Carol. And they need to get Hope to join the team.

why do people hate brie larson again? she's amazing!

I haven't seen Captain Marvel but whenever she was on screen in this, she was like super imposing.

I don't hate her, but I thought she was pretty wooden in her movie. I loved her quick little exchange with Peter in this though. She has potential, but they didn't bring it out in her flick.

Having watched all the teamup films in the last few days, Witch has a very satisfying arc going on even as a supporting character, though Olsen's already shaky accent has drifted off into the cosmos by Endgame. Looking forward to her Disney+ show, but I hope she continues in the films too.

I know most of them were bit roles but kinda sad that some of the supporting characters didn't get a closeup pan. They were just kind of blurry in the background.

Kid from iron man 3 that no one remembers got a better shot than Maria hill. Heh

I really hope people don't get so fucking fixated by the mechanics of the time travel so they can yell PLOT HOLE like a fucking shithead.

Just enjoy the ride.

They have to be going to alternate timelines--they explicitly say you can't change your own past, and one of the timelines they travel to has a Thanos that jumps into our present and gets murdered. That Thanos never gathers the stones, never sacrifices his Gamora, never does the snap, etc, but all those things still happened to our guys. There's a Gamora running around in the MCU at the end that came from where Nebula jumped back to, which has to be another timeline, and our Gamora is still dead.

They jumped back to different points in time simultaneously, and all the groups changed things--those have to be branching timelines that they then went back to to put the stones back, so they have to be able to target specific timelines so they're not trying to put the Time Stone back in the timeline they got the Soul Stone from.

Spiderman Far from home no longer makes any sense

The Fury scene? I assume the Nick Fury scene from the trailer was deliberately fake and it'll be different in the movie. You want to hype him being in it, and I doubt he's in it for more than a couple of scenes, but you can't show the scene where he's like "Hey remember me we met at Mr Stark's Funeral".

I also assume that Starks death will really hang over him in this, or they're lying and this IS before IW. Which they could be.

A couple q's
Why did Cap say "Hail Hydra" in the elevator?
Who was the guy talking to Tony's daughter about cheeseburgers?
Why did the Avengers notice Nat was gone immediately but not Nebula?
