ASUS Confirms GeForce RTX 3080 Ti 20 GB & GeForce RTX 3060 12 GB ROG STRIX Custom Graphics Cards

ASUS has confirmed two upcoming NVIDIA GeForce RTX 30 series graphics cards, the GeForce RTX 3080 Ti 20 GB & the GeForce RTX 3060 12 GB.

As for memory, the card will feature 20 GB of GDDR6X memory. Unlike the 19.5 Gbps speeds of the RTX 3090, the GeForce RTX 3080 Ti is said to retain the same memory speeds as the RTX 3080 at 19 Gbps. Since we are getting a 20 GB bus interface, NVIDIA will be using a 320-bit bus interface which equals a total bandwidth of 760 GB/s. TGP for the card is set to be the same as the RTX 3080 at 320 Watts. That's definitely needed to feed the extra cores so NVIDIA might have to optimize the clocks a bit here.

very interested to see what pricing will be like.

This is what I'm waiting to replace my current card with.

I'm not expecting them to try and undercut the 6900XT on price, but it would be nice.

What a slow piece of shit.

I say this'll be $1200, and a 3070Ti will be ~$900-$1k.

This is the one I want, sounds great. I'm looking forward to easily buying this at RRP on launch day.

I buy one and use it for 5 years...probably more..

Even with mid-gen upgrades 20gb of VRAM is over kill..

About the 3060, in the title they say it's confirmed that it comes with 12gb: "ASUS Confirms GeForce RTX 3080 Ti 20 GB & GeForce RTX 3060 12 GB ROG STRIX Custom Graphics Cards". They say it's confirmed 12gb again on the third paragraph.

But then later in the article:

It is rumored that the card will feature a massive 12 GB memory buffer which is larger than that of the RTX 3060 Ti, RTX 3070, and even the RTX 3080. This is not confirmed yet but the reason could be that NVIDIA wants to really tackle AMD in the mainstream segment. Again, we saw rumors of 20 GB and 16 GB for the RTX 3080 & RTX 3070 too which didn't end up being true as they were early designs that were later on canceled.

So, memory size actually not confirmed?

Why doesn't Nvidia just cut the price of the 3090 to $1000... If 3080 and 3090 is just a 10% difference between each other supposedly what is going to be the 3080ti?

Sounds expensive.

I expected this to be the 3090 with half the memory. 12GB would make more sense and likely allow them to hit $999US. If this is $1100+ it could be a more questionable buy.

If they can do 20GB, hit 3090 performance, and remain under $1000, then they'll have my attention.

Probably because 24GB of GDDR6X is expensive. I assume the 3080ti is exactly what it's always been, the titan card 's performance with less memory and half the price.

If this has 20GB of GDDR6 though, that could either mean it'll be more expensive that expected, and closer to the 3090 in price than I'd hope, or the 3080 ti will be one hell of a card, with a good price and tons of memory.

the memory sizes are all but confirmed thanks to credible leakers. 20GB 3080 Ti, 16GB 3070 Ti, 12GB & 6GB 3060s

The same leakers "confirmed" the 20 GB 3080. Then they unconfirmed it when it didn't show up.

The point is that nothing is actually confirmed until there is a public announcement, because these companies have been playing around with various prototypes that don't end up making it to market.

Great news for the two people in the entire world who will manage to purchase one of these.

The 3080 Ti is an easier chip to manufacture, because it only needs 10 out of 12 memory controllers to be functional. The 3090 requires all 12.

... and they'll hilariously run out of core performance before they need more VRAM so the extra $300 is wasted completely.

Cyberpunk can go over 9 GB at ultra settings, so I imagine you will be able to crack the 10 GB ceiling if it develops a robust modding scene. You see various memory-hungry mods that don't require a commensurate increase in raster performance in games like Skyrim.

Well ASUS hasn't "confirmed" shit, because per the article this is just stuff that was spotted on the ASUS support page, not an ASUS announcement.

This is classic WCCFTech over-commitment.

Still boggles my mind that people went out and bought these knowing Ti versions were likely and we know RDNA 3 is next year.

In all seriousness, how much of an improvement will this realistically be over a 3080? I assume its less than a 3090?

I cant see nvidia kicking both 3080 owners and 3090 owners in the nuts at the same time no? If in real world results the 3090 is only 15% or so faster are we expecting a 10% bump over 3080?

It wouldn't be the first time NVIDIA kicks Titan owners in the nuts.

This just seems so pointless. It's going to be a tiny improvement over the 3080 for a lot more money.

Just like the 3090! At this point, most people are paying way over MSRP anyway just to even get a 3080. If someone's willing to pay $1200 for a 3080, the possibility of getting a 3080Ti for a similar price doesn't seem as bad anymore.

Yes true enough I guess, sad but true. It feels like my managing to get a 3080 FE at MSRP feel like a complete steal at this point.

I am excited for all the bots. Not like most folks will have to chance to grab the card even if they wanted. I have been trying to get a 3080 since launch, watching Discord, Twitter, etc and still nothing (US).

I am super looking forward to replicate above experience next year for 3080Ti.
