What will be interesting is if the console versions ship with a "quality mode" that targets 30FPS with better graphical features.

I think the 3080 can do 4K 60. Perhaps lower than ultra. If the game had DRS that'd be sweet.

I've got a 1080ti, so I will be playing this on XSX. 1080/60 is not something I'm willing to do lol.
God I need to get a 3080 ASAP don't I...

Good to see that an SSD is being recommended for storage, hopefully games will be using that as requirement going forward as they are cheap and every gamer pc should have it already.

stop with the multi monitor support bs, its got ugly stretching at the sides. you have to render 3 seperate views for proper triple screen

Lol not really, but it looks more demanding than usual. Like, 1080p60 at medium/high, is it possible? 1080 for 1080p60fps High is bonkers.
The specs for Valhalla suggest that the game's performance is very similar to AC Odyssey's actually, and that game came out 2 years ago. You needed a 2080ti/8700k for consistent 1440p/60fps, and not even with max settings.

3090 with 3900xt (soon to be 5900x), 32GB and 4.0 nvme should be enough for max settings @ 3440x1440? I also plan to play occasionally in 4K/120 on the oled, but probably at dropped settings, hence I rather stick to the ultrawide

Hmm... My 5700xt is good for 4k 30... Thats nice, but I rather keep playing at 1440p.

Do we know yet if PC is getting the next-gen version or the PS4/Xbox One equivalent? The setting requirements don't seem terribly different from Odyssey.

I expect consoles to do 2160p30 on Enthusiast/very high, but I hope for 1440p60 Variable res. Heck, even 1080p60

Interesting that there is no mention of RT. Would've guessed it would be a showcase for AMD RT
AMD will be in an interesting spot wrt RT support in "their" games during RDNA2 vs Ampere generation as adding RT into a game will likely mean that AMD h/w will start loosing to NV h/w whereas without RT they'll be tied or may even be faster. So it's not too surprising them not pushing for the inclusion of RT here.

I expected higher from the CPU recommendations, interesting. I feel like Unity, Origins and Odyssey were all heavily CPU bound.

1440p60 recommends 2080 Super, but 4k30 recommend 2080... why?

Weird decision to do spec in that order for GPUs.

It occurred to me during the "PC Features" video where they talked about "We worked closely with AMD" that the reason they've been totally mum on the subject (not even saying that there won't be RT in the game) is simply because AMD hasn't shown their hand yet. They're probably under NDA to not talk about how AMD-optimized games will handle RT or if such a thing even exists.

Then I thought about Watch Dogs and how it's already shown off RT, and sure enough, when I went back to watch that game's PC Features video, there it was... "We worked closely with Nvidia".

You'll be lucky if you manage to get 60fps at 1080p with that config.

Are we sure of that or is that you assuming? Those upgraded character models don't look typical of PS4 or Xbox One, and in generational transitions PC often gets stuck with the last-gen version.
This isn't EA. There's no "version" that's drastically different one to another, next-gen isn't on a whole new engine with drastically different everything. Next-gen Valhalla will be last-gen Valhalla with slightly better textures, higher rendering resolution, and higher framerate. That's it. Ditto for the PC version, which is what we've been watching this whole time.

Feel the next gen console will do 1440p/60 tho. Not 4k/60

By these specs, the PS5 should be in line with enthusiast, while the Series X is in line with Ultra.

I assume they made a mistake on the enthusiast spec, and it's supposed to say RTX 2070 S, otherwise they have the Nvidia cards backwards between enthisiast and Ultra (2080 S is more powerful than a 2080).

I also assume 4k60fps would be called something like Ultra+, and require an RTX 3080/3090, or Big Navi (once it's announced). It's possible no card on the market will be able to hit 4k60 without dialing down some settings though, if a 2080 can only do 4k30 at Ultra.

Dang, no DLSS. Probably means I'm waiting for a sale on the gold ver. later on XSX. I'm in a weird spot since I have an older CPU (4790K) w/ a more recent GPU (2070S), so it's hard to tell sometimes. DLSS has been so amazing though for games like Control and Death Stranding. Such a bummer when it's not in a big, demanding AAA PC release.

2080super for 1440p v.high settings 60fps... my 2070super am cry. going to be a mix of med-high for my 2070s to hit 60, im guessing. same deal with my 1070 at 1440p for odyssey.

Seems to be very demanding. With a GTX 1080 I managed 45-70 fps on Ultra @ 1440p in Odyssey, with only volumetic clouds and shadow set to high. According to this chart, I could couldnt come anywhere close to that this time around.

No Dlss is a bummer. Will hold on playing it for few months and hopefully its there. Not to mention ironing all the bugs & jank that this franchise is know for.

probably between high and enthusiast. closer to enthusiast

im definitely doubting it will run native 4k on them if ubis claim of 60 fps is true, expecting dynamic res thats closer to 1440p than 4k
I would guess it will be dynamic/checkerboard 4k60 and they might offer an high-end, visual fidelity at 4k30. Seems the direction most games are going.

I feel like I'll fit comfortably in the 1440/60 spec area. About what I expected.

As always, there will be one or two settings that absolutely murder performance on ultra, and can be dropped to high or medium for very little visual downgrade but a huge fps boost.

If the last two AC games are anything to go by, it's the volumetric clouds settings here.

I'm a little curious why PC gamers would target 30fps.

Why not? It depends entirely on the game, and when it comes to AC, in the past I've locked framerate to 30 in order to get the best visuals possible. Older AC games have often had some pretty bad optimization issues that made it hard to hit a consistent 60 in the first place. I doubt that's the case here, but it's still a matter of preference.

Zero chance of DLSS, I'm afraid, as it's an AMD-sponsored game. IIRC, though, Ubi's temporal reconstruction method is considered to be pretty good, with an internal rendering resolution of 80% being the magic number. It won't compare favourably to DLSS in either performance uplift or image quality, of course, but something is better than nothing.

Ubisoft pc turds are not even worth torrenting. an R9 380 and a haswell trump all over the base consoles. Console optimization I know but ubisoft and poor pc ports go hand in hand.

Unless the base consoles run the game at lower than low settings. But this is not going to be the case. Watch the GTX 970 and the ps4 go neck and neck.
