Just got my Google Project Stream invite. Should I spend the 1000 Helix on XP boost or gold boost? Can't add Helix to get them both. Thanks!

turns out Makedonia was a dud of a zone. Not much there, not even a quest, the only worthwhile things are a Legendary Hunter Spear, and part of
Xenia's
quest is there also. Oh well, 2 zones left :p

Just did the Kyra side quests. Whew. What a rollercoaster of emotions. I left her and that place feeling sad. So far I'd say this is the best side quest chain I've played in the game. I hope there are more that are as good.

Has anyone had an issue where the game occasionally just slows to a crawl (less than 1 FPS)? I'm playing on PS4 Pro, and the issue doesn't occur with other games, leading me to believe it's not my console. It's happened three times in about 10 hours.

it's happened to me once in 35 hours, also on a Pro. No clue what triggers it. I was fighting a base full of enemies then it hit me, ran away from the conflict(slowly) and it corrected itself.

Now that you mention it, I was fighting a bunch of enemies in a base every time it happened; guess I should try to avoid doing that. It's usually so slow that I just end up reloading instead of trying to run away, which has always fixed it. Good to know it's not just me, at least.

Man, this game. Just finished the lair of the snakes mission. I haven't been so impressed with an Assassin's Creed since II. The story is really well done and feels almost like a spiritual successor even though it's far removed.

Got to level 50 and instantly dropped the difficulty back down. Nightmare is just pure BS, the enemies have too much HP and they hit like a ton of bricks. Two to three hits I'm dead. Anyway time to finish off the game or attempt to at least.
Hunter build. Normal enemies dies with 1 arrow headshot. Elites, bosses and mercs dies with headshot 1-2 using devastating shot skill.

Combat balance in this game isn't great. Bows do as much damage as melee with no penalty from being in a safe distance.

Man, I should really do a proper build, especially since upgrading ups item levels.
My fire bow build:

Any Bow with engraved: Basic arrows becomes fire arrows.

Equipment stats in order of most important to less.

1) Stack as many fire damage bonus as possible.
2) Headshot damage bonus.
3) Hunter damage bonuse.
4) Crit damage.
5) Damage with bows from above.
6) Damage with charged shot.
7) Damage from distant with a bow.

Epic gear offers way better damage output, but I wear legendary because omg gold color...

Bout 30 or so hours in and almost level 30. Just started the Athens stuff. Game is pretty fun although I find my assassination attempts messing up a lot more than any of the other games. Don't know if it's because you don't always kill in one hit or the fact that guards seem to have gotten a vision upgrade.

Calling Arms quest is pretty bugged for me as I can't speak to the trainer. Also, my health bar will disappear almost every play session lol and yeah I;ve been getting some more stutters. Games sure isn't as smooth as Origins although I did come to that game more than a few months after it shipped, so maybe it got some patches.

Can you not sneak up on the legendary animal bosses? Seems like a true Assassin build is pretty useless against them.

I rolled my eyes when the magistrate in Sparta dumped four quests on me at once but all have been fantastic so far - don't skip them.

Anyone know where to get some legendary Phobos skins? Checked a ton of different blacksmiths and they're all pretty much the same :-/

Not sure exactly which, but one of the first 4 areas has a Unicorn skin with a glowing pink horn and trails when you move. Can't remember if it's legendary or epic, but it's definitely different.

It's an epic skin and I played around with it a bit but the horse skins feel so limited with slight variations and I'm already at level 50 and pretty deep into the story. I feel like Origins had a larger variety.

They need to rework their good samaritan/bystander system or whatever it's called. I had just finished a mission for a story character and docked my ship when a mercenary decided to kill me for a bounty. I decided to fight him and then suddenly a couple of random npcs and the general for the story character I had just completed a quest for, also decided that I needed to die.

Ah, yeah, one of the things I really think Origins did much better were the costumes and horse/camel appearances. They're pretty slim pickings in Odyssey. Although you might get lucky and get one of the shop skins from the Ore vendor.

Whew, just fought a unique ship I think? It looked pretty cool, had a gold level emblem and awarded me a new skin after I beat it.

I asked before but I don't think anyone answered: do your ship sails change color when you have fully upgraded your ship? Because when I fought that ship it had red sails, but now that I equiped the skin they're suddenly dull white (with a red logo). Same goes for the Andrestia skin: its icon shows it with red sails, but they are also white when I equip it.

I keep running into impact missions on the other side of the world from their supposed context. Characters reference the events of Athens questlines as though they're in Athens, when they're actually in Paros or Makedonia. A woman in Achaia thanked me for ferrying her love to her, a woman who I dropped off in Mykonos. Shit makes no sense, lol.

Also, I really wish civilians and slaves weren't so eager to pick up weapons and fight beside soldiers. It results in way more murders, bounties, and overcareful combat play than I'd prefer in some quarries and mines.

I've put 50 hours in the game already. Time flies.

But I've barely explored 40% of the map...

I suspect there will be a crazy amount of optional zones with great content that most people will probably never play.

It just makes you wonder what Ubisoft could have achieved if they focused resources and streamlined the experience instead of adding content on top of content and trying to shoehorn in every mechanic under the sun.

Yeah, they made too much content in Origins and Odyssey. I finished Origins in 80 hours and I still had like 30% of the map unexplored. I'm not bothering with them at all. This is a prime example of bigger is not always better. Moreover, they're not just big but also pretty dense. You can arrive on another content just a few meters away from where you are now. The map is pretty big but it also feels so small due to the amount of content offered. There's barely any time for enjoying the scenery.

They could've focused their resources to something else (like better quests and writing) instead of making the game as big as it is now. It's clear that they're aiming for The Witcher 3 success, but without good quest and writing, they're not going to reach it.

They really improved the presentation of the unique sidequests. The full on cutscene dialogue and the option to ask for details/give more context to what you're doing is worth a lot even if the actual tasks are still fairly similar.

Or how the people giving out sidequests can be affected by your options

I took a mission with some lady...and before I walked away from her I shot an arrow at a lion and missed.

I walked away and her the lion spazzing, looked back and he was killing her, got a mission failed lol

I ger your point, but from other persoective having such huge map allows users to have bigger level of freedom. I mean, its cool to check what other people did and say: whoa i have to go there!

52 hours and 45 minutes, level 41, only in Chapter 5, and have taken down two mythical creatures Cyclops and the Minotaur

The Ubisoft Club stats says I've done 54.32% of the main progression and discovered 72.17% of the regions. This game is massive and filled to the brim with content. I've been so surprised with so many side missions. They are long, filled with purpose and story, and are very rewarding for finishing them.

Probably an unpopular opinion but I wish I could turn level scaling off. I don't like everyone being able to be around my level or above. Let me come back to lower level areas and just bulldoze through them please.

+1 on this. I really enjoy coming back to lower areas and destroy everything with a maxed out character.

I'm about fifty two hours in, just landed at Mykonos on my way to Naxos.

I am in absolute love with this game. The scenery porn, the naval stuff, the cult, the quality of writing from the quests, the dedication to research, Kassandra, all of it. It's all stunning. It's not Witcher 3, but it's in the same ballpark. Easily my game of the year. I remember as a kid opening up the map editor in Empire Earth and Age of Mythology and spending weeks trying to make a full map of Greece, and when I got older and fell in love with the open world genre I always wanted classical history sandboxes I could play in. I got one wish last year with Origins. I got another, bigger one this month.

I hope they keep doing this. I was never interested in the older Assassin's Creed games for a number of reasons, but this is my goddamn shit.

I just fought bandits in the historically accurate ruins of Mycenae. I never in my dreams thought someone would actually build that for me. I can't wait to see what Knossos will give me.

It gets wilder with that Athens quest in Paros.
Dude claims he's killing all the elites and their wives and their children.
My only choice: agree to protect him, or walk away. I protect him, naturally, because the other choice is just "don't engage with content." There's a lot of non-agency in the sidequest shit, but that's not the issue here. I protect him. From hordes of spartan soldiers (why are SPARTANS attacking him? It makes way more sense for him to be targeted by Athenians. Hell, we're even in an Athenian controlled zone.) and from the wild animals all about us in the midst of the downtown Athens jungle. I manage to kill them all. Quest objective changes to "talk to civilian." Guy promptly runs to the nearest dropped weapon, picks it up, and proceeds to try to kill me. Sometimes things go awry with this game.

EDIT: I ran into the bush and eventually he stopped pursuing me. I ran back to him, but as soon as I got to him, he started to sprint as fast as he could AWAY from me. I had to race to catch up with him to complete the quest, and when I finally did, after the short completion cutscene, he proceeded to flee from my terrifying presence.

I have a question about a specific character and a choice involving them (story spoilers)

Is it even possible to save Brasidas? I know he died in my BFs playthrough but I was under the impression he could be saved. I am currently doing the Spartan line of quests, I killed Lagos and am going to Elis then Boetia. If he can be saved I'm probably too far gone.

It took me 90 hours to get the Plat. But that involved a lot of distraction and going 10+ hours between story missions on several occasions. That's about the total amount of time I spent with Origins including both DLC expansions. I still have a bunch of impact quests I didn't touch in Odyssey. I'll probably get back into it shortly before the DLC starts dropping, but I had a great time.

I'm at the mid point of tier 3 of the mercenaries and everyone behind me is level 40-41 and I'm like "oh come on!"

I also hate the mercenary aspect of the game. They are like magnetically attracted to Alexios. I tracked one who was 9000 kilometres away and then I started a quest involving a big battle and that one magically appeared during that quest. Like they weren't a part of the battle, they just teleported.

I started a quest where this guy was too scared to leave his house because either his neighbour of his landlord wanted him dead. When I came back and told the man that the person was dead, his house was open and I saw a sparkling chest. I, of course, stole from him and that prompted the guy to pull out a sword and try to kill me.

Like mate, I just got rid of your assassin and you think you can take me down? Pathetic.

I am loving this damn game. I'm still only in Megaris and have lowered the nation strength enough to proceed, but I just love exploring. The side characters are great and I just got to romance one. This really does give me crazy Witcher vibes, with some Tomb Raider and a bit of Ass Creed. It's damn fantastic so far!
