I know but saying we should do it isn't the same as getting it done. It's hard to heal when GOP is already pushing to reject the impeachment and still debated the electoral votes after a terrorist attack.
He is in an excellent position to make the connection between Nazism and what is happening in the US right now.

The part where he took out the sword was such a ridiculous twist, I didn't know whether to cringe real hard or stand up and clap.
I watched in disbelief, yet with a grin.
It was probably needed to allow editing cuts when he messed up his speech etc.
It threw you off mostly because whoever did the post production didn't spend a lot of time matching the cameras; or maybe those cuts were from another take altogether, recorded at a different time (hence the different lighting) to patch parts he or his staff didn't like.
Well, or maybe they just thought a second camera would simply make things more interesting visually, but i don't think those cuts made the communication any more effective and the colors not matching were distracting. I also have issues with the framing with the second camera but anyway.

Despite that I love Arnie's eternal optimism. I think a lot of people really need that right now.
They first gave Arnold an aluminum sword when they started filming Conan, and then they noticed that it was so light that it couldn't make Arnold's "Mr Universe" muscles flex when he swung it around, so they made him a genuine steel one (Arnold still thought it was lightweight). The only fake thing about that sword is that it's not sharp.

I agree that singular line doesn't necessarily work as a specific, direct conflation of the two groups. But when he goes on to say that it happened with the tacit support of people once considered friends and neighbours, that for everyone charging the Capitol building there were thousands nodding at home, next door or on social media giving it mainstream support beyond those breaking the glass, that it left people wondering who they could trust, and others wondering what exactly they enabled afterwards, that is a good analogy of a creeping fascism to throw at Republicans right now.

If only more Republicans were like Arnold this country wouldn't be so divided. We'd be able to differ and still be in the same room together.
I mean that rule doesn't seen necessary in this day and age. I can't think of many countries that prevent immigrants from holding office. I think the risk that a UK royal family mole becomes president and returns the us under the queen's aegis is pretty low.

Watched with sound off so didn't get the music issues others here complained of. Agree with some here about the differences in comparison to broken glass. Loved the part of calling the proud boys out, and their fascist, racist ideals, but it's not exactly an apples to appples comparison. Plus, yes it does give them to much credibility. These guys are a far cry from the Gestapo. Overall, amazing speech. When he whipped out the Conan sword you know he means business.
