The surprisingly well-produced video—which is over seven-minutes long, includes a number of cuts and camera moves, and even has a swelling background track—features Schwarzenegger in full movie star mode, making what is essentially a dramatic "we will not back down" address to the nation. It's the sort of speech that countless movie presidents have made, except this time the threat to the United States is the president himself, leaving movie stars to pick up the slack. It's weird in the way that everything is weird now, but also… oddly effective.
There's a reason why Charlie Baker is the most liked governor in the US.He's also solidly pro-choice.
The RNC basically margilinzed these folks. They only exist in Northeastern governorships in any real power.
If a machine, a Terminator, can learn the value of human life, maybe Republicans can too.
So if I travelled back in time to my 16 year old self to tell him that in Jan 2021 POTUS Donald Trump had staged a failed coup attempt during a worldwide pandemic and one of his most cogent adversaries was former Governor Arnold Schwartzanegger I'm pretty certain that I would conclude something drastically perverse had happened to the timeline, like beyond a sports almanac...
So basically Suzaku in Code Geass.
I case you didn´t know, Schwazenegger is a rather active redditor and a lot of his comments are worth a read and/or quite funny

Did you just like fast forward to the end of the video or something?Getting tired of all these healing statements. It's code for "just get over it". Fuck that.
A bunch of terrorist's killing their own people with no regrets and is willing to attack again at any given moment. NOTHING done to all the government official's and their minions who provoked this. Lock all those fuckers up first and then we'll talk about healing. And no, twitter bans don't count.

He talks about this in the middle of the video.
Message was good... not sure the second panning camera was needed though lol .. threw me off.
Ehhhh, really not that sure about the Kristallnacht comparisons.
The Kristallnacht was a coordinated progrom organized by the Nazi party at the highest levels.
The Nazi state apparatus was heavily involved, 10s of thousands of Jews were arrested by the cops and sent to concentration camps.
I think saying stuff like "the Nazi equivalent of the Proud Boys" to describe the SA both elevated the proud boys to a level they don't deserve and downplay how monstrous the nazis were. I'm sure both things make the proud boys extremely happy.

I know about the womanizing and affairs... But what is it about the drugs? I guess we're talking about something more than smoking marijuana or taking steroids?well...there was the drugs, womanizing and affairs. But boys will be boys.
Yeah I had to bite my tongue and not need out at that part too. Tempering a sword and then hammering it... Well that wouldn't be pretty lol.Nice speech.
It's just his bit about the sword that threw me off. The quenching (plunging the blade in water or oil) and tempering (carefull reaheating after a quench to requench after) are not meant to be done multiple times, and definitely not between hammering sessions. It would only weaken the blade and make it brittle. So the analogy doesn't really work. Tempering is usually the last thing you do with the blade before giving it t's final edge and mounting the guard and pommel. :p
But that's just nerd me who got caught on that.Overall, his message is fine. And much more respectable than anything that ever escaped Donnies mouth.
They first gave Arnold an aluminum sword when they started filming Conan, and then they noticed that it was so light that it couldn't make Arnold's "Mr Universe" muscles flex when he swung it around, so they made him a genuine steel one (Arnold still thought it was lightweight). The only fake thing about that sword is that it's not sharp.
There was talk about that when ages ago actually. But you'd need a Constitutional Amendment as he's not a naturally born citizen.
He smoked a doobie on tape one time, he's been in the bad books since the late 70s at least.I know about the womanizing and affairs... But what is it about the drugs? I guess we're talking about something more than smoking marijuana or taking steroids?
I agree that singular line doesn't necessarily work as a specific, direct conflation of the two groups. But when he goes on to say that it happened with the tacit support of people once considered friends and neighbours, that for everyone charging the Capitol building there were thousands nodding at home, next door or on social media giving it mainstream support beyond those breaking the glass, that it left people wondering who they could trust, and others wondering what exactly they enabled afterwards, that is a good analogy of a creeping fascism to throw at Republicans right now.Ehhhh, really not that sure about the Kristallnacht comparisons.

I mean that rule doesn't seen necessary in this day and age. I can't think of many countries that prevent immigrants from holding office. I think the risk that a UK royal family mole becomes president and returns the us under the queen's aegis is pretty low.Yup. And while modern Arnold is certainly a centrist that a lot of people could get behind (environmentally-conscious, supportive of LGBT rights, supportive of education), I don't know if amending the constitution to allow non-naturally-born candidates to run just for one guy would be a smart plan long-term.

I've seen that video. For some reason I thought that it would be something perceived as far worse than smoking a joint...He smoked a doobie on tape one time, he's been in the bad books since the late 70s at least.

He is now my head canon for that role. Hell, Suzaku even cosplays as The Terminator at one point:
