I really enjoyed his message of hope for the future. It's something I think we all need to hear right now.
I would hope that the people who need to heed his warnings would hear them and take them to heart, but unfortunately I think it will fall on deaf ears if they even see this.

I fucks with this. Arnold's politics might be shaky her and there, but he called it 100% equating the Proud Boys with Nazi' and how 'regular people' are an important part of these movements of evil. Love how he equated it to the abuse he suffered.
Not surprised Arnold would be super fired up about this as a successful naturalized immigrant. He's big into the American mythos.

He's also one of the few that actually believes in Climate change and is pro environment. He's basically a moderate Republican. Those were made irrelevant in national politics ages ago.

Yup. He mostly just spends his time talking about environmentalism lately, which means he's a pretty bad Republican. Dude's a centrist, he's just too loyal to an idea of what he thinks the Republican party should be to drop out.
Good speech but a bit too idealistic. The rest of the world already knows the reality of American democracy and most of them seem to be gleefully mocking what happened with funny headlines in their newspapers rather than crying like Arnold describes here lol. I liked the bit with Conan's sword.
I watched this earlier and loved the message he brought and how he brought world history and his own personal history into it.

Every effort must be made to illustrate the Nazis as the thin treasonable people they are, and to force their rhetoric back in the shadows where it can't spread. Part of that is empowering voices of conservatives and the right who are opposed to them.
I'm very proud of people like Arnold Schwarzenegger who actually believe in America, her ideals, against his party and his ideology. He gave money to expand voting rights and ensure greater access to voting during the election, even as his party sought to suppress it.

There was talk about that when ages ago actually. But you'd need a Constitutional Amendment as he's not a naturally born citizen.
I like Arnold, and he has a good heart, but I want boring politicians now on lol.
He was not a good governor though Arnie of today seems to have better stances about a lot of issues.
Yup. And while modern Arnold is certainly a centrist that a lot of people could get behind (environmentally-conscious, supportive of LGBT rights, supportive of education), I don't know if amending the constitution to allow non-naturally-born candidates to run just for one guy would be a smart plan long-term.
Absolutely true...But he's admitted so as much even that he was also a pretty terrible governor. Thats saying something at least.
What an awesome message, when a guy who grew up seeing and hearing things at that young an age is comparing what happened Wednesday to the nazi regime and the atrocities then you know shit is just god awful. Definitely a day that won't be forgotten anytime soon.

Sadly since he was not born here he can never be one despite him being one of the best choices the republican party could ever hope to produce
considering how much he isn't a republican on certain issues such as the environment it's weird he still affiliates with them. he could easily be an independent at this point.
It was the most relevant and important part of his message I think.
The best part of his speech was that he opened with this. so even if you did not bother to watch it all if you watched the first 30 seconds you got this. So everyone who even glances over the video will see it.
He's also solidly pro-choice.
The RNC basically margilinzed these folks. They only exist in Northeastern governorships in any real power.
Even the Republicans who say the election was lost, it's over, it's all begrudgingly or not even mentioned to stand behind Biden, to stand behind democracy.
So for Arnold to so place it in his message, that President Biden was elected with the blessing of the American people and the constitution of the United States and that defending democracy is to defend Biden's election and to oppose Biden's win is to oppose the American people and the constitution is sorely needed among Republicans right now.

The music was cheesy, and I know the exceptionalism is a non-starter. I also know he was not a good governor, cheated on his wife, etc so not looking to rehabilitate him any more than society has.

I know it's not fair because he's an actor of many decades but man, I wish our politicians could do speeches like these.
There was this documentary about the future that I saw which suggested it could be changed. It was called Demo... Demo-something Something. I forgot. It predicted his rise to politics so it has to be true.

The Nazi state apparatus was heavily involved, 10s of thousands of Jews were arrested by the cops and sent to concentration camps.
I think saying stuff like "the Nazi equivalent of the Proud Boys" to describe the SA both elevated the proud boys to a level they don't deserve and downplay how monstrous the nazis were. I'm sure both things make the proud boys extremely happy.
