Let me tell you this...before you change the police department and regulate them, white cops would rather go on strike and start a civil war (or create their own militia) than let the government try to fix the injustice used in our judicial system for equal rights. That's why I think we need another civil war, and this time fix this shit.

Because I truly believe racist white people would rather watch the country burn before allowing a fully reformed country where everyone is on equal standing ground.

This is nothing new. Neo-nazi rallys have been a thing in America since before WWII and there was no shortage of other hate groups marching around like they mattered before that. Free speech goes both ways.

It's actually pretty simple.

You have a small group of armed fascists going out provoking people to give them a "reason" to shoot in "self defense".

Having a police "escort" pretty much removes the chance for any horrible situations escalating and occurring.

It's not for the nazi's protection, it's to make sure nobody gets shot in the face.

Obviously the best solution would be to not let Nazi's run around with rifles, but I'm not sure how Detroit handles permits or if this even counted as a "protest/demonstration" when only like seven people show up.

i know we have free speech and whatever but isn't there something that doesn't allow Nazi's specifically to march or unite or spread their dumbass ideology? i mean they are an evil group the we fought a world war against, i figured we would be like no fuck this specifically. i can't imagine what it would be like to be a ww2 vet and walk down the street and see swastikas being paraded.

Some have but we shouldn't generalize all police just like we shouldn't generalize all republicans or democrats. Nazis, yes, police getting an order to protect Nazis, no.

yea the reactionary impulses in this forum sometimes is rather embarrassing. that said, it is known that neo-nazis target police forces for infiltration, but it is also known that police escort murderers, rapists, and other ne'er-do-wells to and from court or where ever they are assigned. now unless these police are marching with these neo-nazi scum i wonder why mods let this clickbait title stand.

I wonder the same. If someone made a negative generalization about all homosexuals, that person would catch a ban, and it would be warranted. Police and all other groups (except Nazis and other hate groups) deserve the same respect.

When the government advocates for white supremacy, enacts massive harm to the people, and when white supremacists no longer face penalties for their crimes. 10 people marching down the street simply isn't large enough to start panicking.

Also that dude was sentenced to life in prison as he should be, he faced punishment for his crimes, he was not let go by the government for what he did.

The original point I'm making here is that the police needed to be there. Had they not been there people could have been harmed or possibly killed. An escort by the police was necessary in preventing that.

Also, to me this means Detroit police has declared literal war on the people it's responsible for protecting. In a just world every police that complies would be charged with domestic terrorism, but then again in a just world not even a shred of this headline would be true

going through this last page i'm surprised the left wing is giving up the police to the far right. this is how the far right gains the institutional power and structure to suppress their victims. saying 'fuck all police' is just playing into their hands giving them uncontested ground in the culture war. just look at how trump claims the police and military. op could have easily framed the police in this story as protecting the pride parade from gun-totting racists but chose to do the opposite, equating the police to those racists. trump talks about fake news and we laugh but op is basically fake news, and what's the point?

Problem with what you're saying is there are "actual Nazis" and klansmen in police forces. On top of that, regardless of the personal beliefs of individual officers, US policing as whole is an institution that enforces white supremacy. It's in the very inception on American police.

A badge shouldn't shield people from being called what they are.

I see your point but you still can't look at this and not think the police are an institutional threat to LGBTQ people. What needs to happen here is not protection, it's mass arrests of Nazi filth at the very least.
