How good is Skadi and her ability? I'm thinking of leveling her up, or is there any better Guard unit beside her?
Hey! I had the same wonderful problem yesterday, the very first time I ever hit 0 recruitment tickets. And even more unfortunate my extra tags guaranteed either my choice of two I already have, or a random pick between 4 I already have. All five I already have accounted for between them. So I had to wait until today to find out if I'd succeed at a 3/8 chance of getting a new 6*.
Amazingly enough, I did! I'm amazed at how generous this game is with summons for F2P players. I'm now hoarding all my gacha tickets/currency (besides for skins) at this point, but have amassed quite an army with barely any gacha use at all.
IIRC, in total: 10 Pulls on Standard Banner (rerolling) got me started with a Eyjafjalla+Exusiai account, and 20 Pulls on Beginner Discount Banner got me a Hoshiguma+Silverash. Since then I've only done 15 pulls for the guaranteed 5*s. Then I got a Top Op tag combo for a guaranteed Ifrit, Top Op tag combo for guaranteed Siege, and finally today, Top Op rando Nightingale.
Painfully yet humorously, I rerolled the account using single pulls, and the few extra pulls I did to hit 10 actually gave me a dupe Exusiai (which had a 50/50 shot of being Angelina instead, which would have meant I'd have 8 unique 6* units).

Congrats on your luck! But you should also note that you have been super lucky thus far, especially getting 3 top operator tags, so its probably not reflective of an F2P experience
I started a bit before the Grani Event, rerolled for 2 6*, and only have 4 6* total currently. And I'm probably still ahead of the curve luck-wise. And I have not seen a top operator tag ever.
Absolutely, I've gotten insanely lucky to have such an early concentration, I'm just surprised the game is structured in such a way that my case was possible at all. And that'll be everyone too eventually, It's only been a few months since launch, those with less luck will get there (assuming you'll eventually break that Top Op bad luck streak), especially once factoring in the pulls/pity meter I'm not currently enjoying.
Thanks to the gradual accumulation of originite from the monthly pass, I've got a stockpile of about 66,000 orundum currently (inc. my leftover prime and ticket value), or 110 pulls? That ought to be another couple of 6* there as well, eventually (Nian).
Just downloaded Arknights when I found out it was a tower defense game. The story has actually been interesting so far and the game play is good old tower defense.

I like ptilopsis more, her second skill is like a panic button you activate when you need to survive at all cost

Psilopsis also have one of the strongest passive in the game.. so, her skill also dont have little demerit like Perfurmer S2
Level both, since there are stages where 2 AOE healers can be helpful. Ptilopsis is generally considered to be one of the best all-round healers (even including 6*), so definitely level her. Perfumer's passive is pretty good, esp on poison stages, but it probably cannot keep an operator alive under heavy pressure unless that operator also has some form of defense buff/heal. It does work nicely with things that cannot be healed normally, like summons and Estelle when using S2.
Dailies give you 1 per day (2 on weekends). The certshop has them on both level 1 and 2. The credit store also has them occasionally
Im really close to Angelina E2 and just need to build the chip, I build the chip snd turned out I make the specialist chip instead supporter chip that I needed :(

So once you've run out of permits and cleared the shop, you are essentially only getting them through dailies and if you're lucky through the credit shop. Hmm...this is actually the first time I run out of recruit permits and ironically I got a lot of those red permits but can't really use them now :D
I forgot to mention it, but the weeklies also give a few (10 in total). And occasionally the monthly login bonus /event login bonus. I think you should be able to comfortably do 3 per day. And yeah red permits are kind of useless (I never use them after missing 2 guaranteed 4* tags with expedited plans)

3rd off-banner 5 star in a row, this one taking a full 10 pulls to get. Still at least Projeckt Red is new and leaves my 5 star selection (from launch) free to pick Liskarm
I'm really struggling to do some of the harder missions. One of the issues I have is that I tend to prefer trying to get past tough stages by myself, I might seek advice on heroes or what not but actually playing I prefer to mess around until I get it right. This game though, feels bad. Every match is several minutes and I often don't know if I'll succeed or not until a fair way into the mission.
I think I could probably power level through but that seems tedious and not fun.
I just got Silver Ash. I guess I'll try to S1 him first and see where I go from there. I imagine I'll need to S2 more heroes as well.

If you E2 Silverash you'll find that stages will get a whole lot easier. But also don't be afraid to use guides, you want a good progression/sanity ratio!
I feel like if I use guides now I'll realise how badly I messed up with sanity ratios and any sanity I have left will be lost in the process.
How far in are you in the game? And are you usually under-levelled for the mission? I also try to clear stages on my own (excepting Annihilation, since I want to raise the cap ASAP), and it can take me a while especially if i haven't raised suitable units. Like it took me a week to do 5-3, with lots of practice plans. I'll try it a bit, become busy and clear my sanity on previously auto-able stages, and repeat the next day
I stopped at 4-4 after failing it twice. I guess I need stronger defenders or better dps to clear mobs before they overwhelm. I've been focusing on leveling up, I was pretty underlevel prior to that, mostly E1 30. I am mostly E140 now with a few 50-70 and one or two E2. One other issue is that i only just cleared CE5 today so at CE4 it was a slow avenue of income. Still need to work on the last exp stage.
If you've got 1 or 2 E2's then I don't think you are too far behind! I understand wanting to clear everything on your own, as long as it's enjoyable. If you need help prioritizing certain units drop a picture of your lineup!

Seems like it's shaping up. I would say you need an AOE Caster, unless you have one but didn't select for that lineup as well as some stronger guard energy. If you only have 3 star guards so far, Midnight is useful because he's ranged, but Melantha should be your priority because she is stronger beyond her means. Pramanix I would hold off from investing in her, because her use is a bit more niche than some of the others. You've 2 amazing defenders so you're set with that. I'd recommend levelling up Silence's skill after you E1 her, because her second skill is amazing.

Went a bit further on the Hoshi banner to get any of the rate ups (Metorite in particular) and my gacha luck continues to be not so great. Only 5 star was the guaranteed one on the 10th summon and I went 25 summons in total without even another one.

I thought Meteorite would work a bit better with Ch'en's passive for maximum shred + I want the new skin. I'll just grab her with gold certificates whenever she rolls around now I guess.

Thanks! thought Melantha was weaker than Midnight, will do the switcheroo then, as for AOE casters is Gitano, and Greyy good enough? thought Eyja with her passive skill was good enough as AOE, but guess not.
If you already have E2, you should definitely be working on that last XP stage and also SK-5 for your base. E1 40 is generally good enough for those. I would definitely work on building up the base since it generates a lot of XP and LMD passively.
Also 4-4 is an interesting stage. Did you do the Grani Event? The last stage of that mission taught a way to abuse blocks and the AI that can make life much easier.
Vanguards: You are in great shape with Siege and Zima
Healers: Silence and Perfumer are great, but one more ST/AOE won't hurt if you have them
Sniper: Blue Poison is good. Haven't used Provence so can't comment. I would recommend another ST sniper (for drone heavy maps) and an AOE sniper (for ranged and physical AOE) to round out the squad later,
Mage: Eyja with Skill 2 can probably work as an AOE Caster, but you might still want Gitano/Skyfire if you have them.
Tanks: No issues here
Guards: Guards have multiple subtypes, so really up to you. You might want 1 or 2 of each. Midnight is a ranged guard (pretty much melee sniper). You might want Arts Guard (Mousse is your only choice right now) to deal arts damage on the ground, and Duelist Guard (Melantha) to 1v1 stuff (mainly bosses/casters that stand still for a while or can be isolated)
Specialists and Supporter: 1x Pusher and Puller. A fast-redeploy (Gravel/Projeckt Red) and a slower can come in handy late game.

Melantha is super strong 1 block, so she can be used as a specific unit assassin, where midnight is a more standard unit to keep behind a defender (but he's pretty good). I don't have Eyja, so I'm not sure how much her AOE skills replaces a full AOE unit, but maybe have a Gitano ready to complement her.
Sorry for double posting, but I just had a thought that maybe you should wait to get a full Flamebringer with this upcoming event, which is supposed to be a 5-star replacement to Melantha. So don't level her up quite yet, and check some youtube reviews of him first.
We've had one event which was a separate campaign that you need to grind to get items from a dedicated shop, but I think this one is also has a separate campaign but you can grind from anywhere else to get coins for the dedicated shop.
That's great to hear, if I can get event currency from any map, my progress won't be affected that much.

So I managed to get Magallan on my second pull. What's the general opinion on her? I've not really used summoner operators that much, so I'm not really sure how I would effectively use her. It seems like you can give her summons different roles depending on what skill is selected?
Got the new 4 and 5 star from my pulls. Really happy to have Executor the new husbando, even if he's a super costly AoE sniper with non-standard range that I don't really need right now.
