The Democratic primary is about to begin!

And, it isn't just a tv show!
You! Yes you* can actually participate and affect the outcome!!!

there's a candidate for everyone, well not unless you want a young progressive, sorry Julian Castro, but from Left to Center Left, the Democratic Party has got you covered.

So, you voting?

* as long as your RIGHT to vote hasn't been turned into a privilege

I'm a registered independent and in my state I cannot vote in the primaries. For the general--fuck, yes.

No. I don't even know when Illinois' primary is and I also don't like any of the Democratic candidates enough to pick them over the others.

So fuck it. I'll just vote when the general election comes around. We're gonna lose anyway, there's no reason to get excited or hopeful about anything anymore.

Yeah. It's Ohio, so it should still be a contest. Our primary is pretty straight forward, and run like any other voting day.

What makes you think trump has gained supporters?

all evidence points to him having lost his slim margin of voters in the Midwest/rust belt

Reminder that he only won by less than a 250,000 votes, and reminder that his approval rating tanked within a month of his inauguration.

some people, enough for it to matter, just made a mistake. Sure maybe they were racist, but racists have voted for democrats before too.
and those racists thought trump was a SMART racist, All he's done during his presidency is shown us that he's a DUMB racist. And even if 5 percent of the electorate doesn't want that, that's enough for him to lose.
So don't be hopeless.

I think he's going to find another way to cheat. Voting machines, etc. I have no faith in this country, its institutions or its people.

Whatever cheating mechanisms they have in place can be destroyed by overwhelming voter turnout.

I don't think we're going to get overwhelming voter turnout. Our voters are always complacent, and Republicans will find ways to suppress turnout in vulnerable populations just like they always do.

We had overwhelming turnout in the 2018 midterms, and those are notoriously sat out. It's completely reasonable to expect big turnout this year.

sounds like you're overcorrecting in your attempt to be realistic. 2018 had STUPENDOUS turnout and it was just a referendum on trump, imagine once he's actually on the ballot.

Hillary was disliked and apparently when voters disliked both trump and Hillary, they picked trump.
This time around its backwards.
more people like biden, warren and bernie, and those that do dislike them, don't dislike them as much as they dislike trump.

Yes, I'm a Bernard Brother

I'm in Illinois though which is somewhat late so I'm not sure how relevant my vote is actually gonna end up being.

My state is a later primary state so it will depend on if there is still a race going on to vote on and how I feel about the local candidates. I often feel like people focus too much on federal elections when your local and state representatives likely affect your day-to-day life much more.

Yes, although I expect Biden to run away with my state, Virginia, despite being a Super Tuesday state where I should have my pick.

I'm voting for Liz, though I'm on socialist mailing lists and keep being hit up to canvas for Bernie.

This is why I hope we get a like able candidate on the ticket, if we can just have people vote "Straight D" we could possibly flip even more things.

the 2018 bluewave continues!

I think I remember doing so before. I'm not affiliated and it depends, but will if I can in my state.

It should be done by the time IL rolls around and at best it'd be a protest vote against Bernie.

Slightly off-topic, but we were talking about jury duty last night and a bunch of us have never been called. Someone asked if we'd registered to vote and most of us said no and they said that's why. They seriously pool jurors from registered voters?

My primary is very late and doesn't matter for much. So I won't be voting unless there are other things on the ballot.
