I think all of the truly meme worthy dream announcements have been done outside of Half-Life 3, but a lot of the answers in this thread would excite a ton of people. The answers so far in this thread really answer the question for us. No, there are no more "dream games" that virtually the entire gaming community shares some degree of interest in. All that's left is genre stuff with specific audiences. The shared dreams are gone.
Isn't this actually happening? Or was that speculation?
Absolutely — but they do not saturate the culture or dominate the collective mindshare they way these games did. Calling them meme games is honestly accurate. Nothing is on that level anymore.I think all of the truly meme worthy dream announcements have been done outside of Half-Life 3, but a lot of the answers in this thread would excite a ton of people.
They trade marked the name and everything it was actually planned to be made but then was canceled
This one for sure. The one thing I hope for every Xbox E3.
You deserve this.
This is near top of my list too.
CT is flawless, a remake would be worthless.
In the last few years we have:
Kingdom Hearts 3
Shenmue 3
Final Fantasy 7r
Half Life Alyx ( not 3 but it counts)
Are there any other games that would qualify for this category? Im not talking wish list games but games that have had a reasonable level of hype with some level of announcement.
I never thought we would get Scott Pilgrim Vs The World but even that lacks the uber-status of the games listed.
Tell me of the dreams to come.
