MSRP $600

I don't know if this is dope or lazy. This would be dope for my events but I'm not sure if it makes sense in the house.

are you locked into their storefront? also the surface table came out in 2008, I guess the tech finally advanced enough to get the price down. i remember wanting to rig up a D&D system on one of those back in the day -- did a solution ever pop up for that, or did people just start playing virtually on PC

I was just about to post that. I remember them showing off D&D and stuff and being really impressed and curious about the future of digital board games.

I almost bought a Gen 1 off of Craigslist years ago.

What happened to that table, i forgot the name, that had a similar concept on fig or Kickstarter?
Edit: I was thinking about The Last Gameboard...

I actually want this really bad now, especially if they start porting some of the all-time greats (Catan, Carcassone, etc) to it.

I like the idea of it (a lot!) but the tech seems a bit primitive. It looks like a bad touchscreen. The lag when she was dragging the piece in Operation wasn't great.

I actually want something like this to be combined with Amiibo- like figures. That seems like some real fun could come out of having game pieces that can remember.

How are they playing Scrabble if I can see the tiles?

I love board games, but I don't think I'm the target audience for this. I already know of a few ways to play board games online - Tabletopia, Boardgamearena, Tabletop Simulator, Steam's assorted offerings...I just trade off the benefit of a touchscreen for the convenience of using any computer I already own.

"These animations are where the team can get really creative."

*shows some very pedestrian movement animations*

I'd be interested, but the movement lag is troubling. That, and the model she's demoing there is way too small. I also wonder how well it works as a table. Would I be good to put a drink on it?

It's a cool idea, but with it just being shitty Hasbro type board games, that's gonna be a big no from me. Now, if they could get Z-man or some of publishers of actual good board games on board, no pun intended, and it worked flawlessly, I would love a reality where I could have all my board games digitized and get rid of that giant overflowing shelf of games that will undoubtedly one day all come crashing down on me and be my demise. I don't think this is THAT device though.

It's an interesting idea for sure, but the frame rate and resolution look terrible there, and the display is not laminated - so expect glare issues.
I bet it's a low-powered, scaled-up, Android tablet in there with a custom UI.

With an HDMI input and something a bit more powerful, it could have made for an interesting arcade/pinball machine.

It looks like they're open to adding more based on the Kickstarter; I noticed they were advertising Ticket to Ride and I'm not sure if that's Hasbro (I have no idea what the corporate hegemony looks like for board games).

Infinity Game Table by Arcade1Up

All your favorite classic board games packaged into one digital gaming table. Features: Ticket To Ride, Monopoly, Scrabble, & more.

The ginormous bezel kills any appeal in that product for me.
Looks like that's the smaller 24" one, they're also advertising a 32" model that looks like it's basically the same size but with less bezel.

Android 9, again, based on the Kickstarter.

As for the second part, I assume you mean the form factor specifically? They already make arcade and pinball machines, so they'd probably not be interested in bypassing them with an HDMI input.

Looks a bit laggy, if it didn't I would seriously have considered it.

Agreed. It feels like every time a really cool product like this comes along, it is significantly under-powered or has cut pretty clear corners (like the Subway sandwich-sized bezel) and that kills my interest. I understand they want to keep the price low, but I'd rather pay $800 for a great or good experience than $600 for a mediocre one. It's already a premium product, why not go all the way and make it actually feel premium?

I imagine the implications of this goes way beyond shit like monopoly. Imagine someone with a phone or a tablet playing the role of DM for a night of D & D for example. Just probably would need a much more powerful version of this concept for that to be a thing though.

Would anyone really want to spend money on a specialised device just to play these sort of Hasbro boardgames digitally? It's really competing against something like an iPad, which has a better touchscreen, better games, and just way more functionality in general.

I don't think an ipad can compete with a table of this size if you're playing with a family, provided this thing works as expected. I do events of a varying nature and this is prime for a game night under the stars.

Sure, that seems like a neat use-case.

For me personally it just feels like If i were to do an in-person multiplayer game I'd take a physical board game every time, and for taking a board game online I'd go with Tabletop Simulator which is a lot more robust.
