Fuck no, I wish.Does google and Samsung still support older devices like Apple?
I'm still using a 6s. I kept it because of the headphone port. I'll let it go eventually.
They must have some good data of enough people still using it to still support it
I replaced the battery for the first time just under a year ago. I'm good for a while.Yeah, I was really putting it off because of this, but I had one too many fried batteries so I figured it was time to move on.
I could be wrong, but IIRC you're lucky if you get 18-24 months of support.Does google and Samsung still support older devices like Apple?
Google recently stopped supporting the Pixel 2 (2017-2020) and Samsung has one more major version update planned for the S10 (2019-2022). They are the best in Android in this regard.Does google and Samsung still support older devices like Apple?
Fuck microsoft when it comes to this. They released the Lumia 900 and then cut off all future versions of windows phone for it after 8 months. Was such a shitshow for their flagship device.Wouldn't say it's unmatched as Microsoft is nuts when it comes to legacy support, but I'll give them a slice of cake for supporting a 6s, it's nuts.

iPad Air 2 was released in 2014 and is getting iPadOS 15. Apple still respects the greatest iPad
Not sure about Pixels but Samsung's Galaxy devices get major OS updates for three years (increased from two last year). After that, they still tend to get security updates for a couple more years. My old Galaxy S7 (released 2016, around 6 months after iPhone 6S) which I still use sometimes still gets OS security patches.Does google and Samsung still support older devices like Apple?
Samsung still supports S8/Tab S4, but only security updates.Does google and Samsung still support older devices like Apple?

The Samsung equivalent would be Galaxy s6, it's last major update was probably a year and half maybe 2 years after release.

Android is a bit different to iOS too in that many of the core apps and underlying services are updated from the Play Store and don't necessarily need an OS update.
Samsung still supports S8/Tab S4, but only security updates.
OS upgrades? :(
i remember back in the day, you'd get the latest Android Version like 3 months later (depending on your carrier and what bloat they needed to add lol) and even then it would be butchered w touch wiz
officially no, but the fan communities do.Does google and Samsung still support older devices like Apple?
I'm not trying to stan Apple or whatever but that's just something that has never really made sense to me, like people assume the iPhones have to be more expensive than their competitors "because Apple" but the numbers don't really bear that out. I've worked mobile retail and I've seen people say things like "oh I'm not looking to spend iPhone money" and then buy an $800 Galaxy, I've never understood it. Apple is guilty of many things but charging more for iPhones than their competition really isn't one of them.

Android 11 on a Galaxy S2, which launched with Android 2.3 in 2011. Conversely the iPhone of that year, the 4S, stopped any updates with iOS 9 in 2015 :p

If given the option I'll choose the fan option just due to longevity. Can't really trust companies to do what we can do for free and all 😎Sorry, fanmade updates don't count in a question about companies supporting their own products they're charging you money for.
To be honest that sounds like battery problems. What's your battery health at?1st gen SE here. iOS crashes several times a day, and sometimes it takes a few minutes of pushing some combination of the power and home buttons to turn my phone on after one of these crashes.
I'll probably have to finally upgrade at some point soon.
