Well, they are rereleasing Skyward Sword, so it is sort of a rehash of the 25th if you think about it.

Not to toot my horn too much but can I say I called it?
Guys please think stuff through before speculating. They aren't going to release 3-4 Zelda HD remasters in the span of less than a year. That's too much Zelda at once and the games would be cannibalizing each other's sales like crazy. Plus it'll just invite a lot of negative PR about how Nintendo is charging more for Zelda games than a Switch (Lite).

Nintendo also aint going to release a collection for the same price or less that a stand-alone remaster (Skyward Sword HD) is going for. That just makes SS HD look like a shittier deal and would tank its sales.

If Nintendo does anything more Zelda related for the anniversary it would probably be something unexpected like how Mario 35 and the Game and Watch
were out of left field.

This poster is just a celebration of 3d Zelda, not some secret code.
One, the 3D collection. Everything else had it's appeal in some other kind of novelty like the Game and Watch being a physical old school Game-and-Watch system, and Mario 35 being a free Nintendo Online feature.
That's why I said if they doing anything else it's not going to be a typical game but some sort of physical memorabilia or a NSO bonus, or some really REALLY out of left field announcement like a movie reveal.

It never made sense to me to release a bunch of games whose audience and appeal perfectly overlapped with one another, including with a game they already announced, or to overshadow their prior Zelda announcement with a collection of said similar games. And I figured something very alike to the Game & Watch would happen, though I wasn't confident enough to say they'd literally do another G&W.

Damn this is a bummer. I would much rather have Wind Waker and Twilight Princess over Skyward Sword

They aren't going to port these games in the same year that Skyward Sword HD comes out.

Also highly skeptical that they were ever going to be sold in a bundle. Both Twilight Princess HD and Wind Waker HD will be full-priced and sold separately.

Surprised zelda ports weren't shown and instead made a game and watch ha, no interest in that but I at least see it as a nice thing from a collectors point of view.
I find it hard to believe wind waker HD at the least will stay locked to wii u forever, so guess we'll see. Really that's the main one I want to see. I won't say no to the rest, but TP has been on everything since GC, so not really in such of a need. OOT/MM, I'd more want MM, OOT I played first on 3DS, along with MM, and found MM the more interesting of the two so that's how I see it.

I think that fact that he made this statement at all shows that there are other ports either in the works or finished. I just don't think that they will release for the anniversary. With everything still being so screwed up from covid, you might as well save things for if you need them. Plus, this year is stacked with games. Trying to find a decent time to release them would be difficult.

Nintendo should take a note from terrible spouses and just forget about anniversary's wholesale if they're not going to bother doing anything to celebrate them.

I guess Nintendo thought that it'd be better to sell the older games as standalone entries instead of an "All-Star" package. You know people will buy them again.

Tbh, I read this as no other games coming out specifically in 2021. Ports and the like can still happen in '22.

I wonder if the plans were disrupted due to COVID and BOTW was tagged as a tentpole 2021 release.

While I'm all in favor of more Zelda, where did we get this idea that companies are contractually obligated to blow out their franchises in celebration every 5 years?

...sigh and here's me thinking that Nintendo would make the switch the ultimate mario/zeldaarchive machine.

This is a lot to digest. I really thought we were getting OOT/MM and TP/WW. Oh well. One day they'll be ported.

It's interesting, because I rolled my eyes prettttty hard when they announced the Mario Collection.

Then I bought the Mario collection and have enjoyed it immensely.

And now I'm upset they're not doing the same garbage timed window of release for Zelda.

Sounds like Nintendo is definitely winning...

Almost feel like buying a Wii U to play Wind Waker HD. I know a lot of people hate the constant Wii U ports, but they've been great for me never owning the Wii U.

35 isn't even an important anniversary, Nintendo just did Mario last year because they had nothing else.

But how am I supposed to celebrate an anniversary without an artificially time-limited collection of old games?

Guess they didn't want Zelda burnout or something also cause they didn't want Skyword Sword to look like a shitty value compared to the WiiU double pack lol

What a shame that they're ignorig WWHD and TPHD when they could have rereleased OoT and MM while still ignoring WWHD and TPHD.

I'm actually shocked that WWHD & TPHD weren't announced. Same with an HD port of OoT and MM 3D. That is such easy money for them and you just know they'd charge full price for them too. I'm baffled.

Disappointing honestly. I thought we'd at least get another port or something. Damn we can't even get Minish Cap through Nintendo Online 😭

Wii U is Zelda paradise. You can get WWHD, TPHD, Nintendo Land and Minish Cap.

AND you can still play Skyward Sword on it! Along with Ocarina of Time and Majora's Mask through VC.

Guessing it's because of COVID and putting all hands on deck for BOTW2
Unlikely TP remake was handled by Tantalus, WW remaster was handled by Nintendo as a test for HD graphics. Wouldn't take a lot to port either and give it to an outside studio, like Tantalus to do.

They didn't do it because it would conflict with Skyward Sword HD. That's their Zelda celebration game this year.

In anycase, as I said upthread, didn't make much sense to bring WW HD and TP HD back this year since they were just released on Wii U, especially not both in a $60 package. At least with Mario 3D All Stars, there's the big draw of Sunshine , Galaxy and SM64 in HD.

Seems obvious that they are waiting to see how Skyward Sword sells at 60€. Why release a collection for 60€ when you can sell every game for 60€?

Grubb is mostly good for hinting at possible MS/Sony stuff. Ouside of that he's very low on any actual concrete Nintendo info outside of possibly "informed speculation."
Was Grubb the only one hinting at this?
I've learned not to trust Aonuma or Nintendo, he also claimed no Skyward Sword on Switch.
Well, I'd like to believe that, but Idk man, I just feel like it isn't gonna happen right now. I really hope I'm wrong tho. :(
I just want to play the older games of my favorite franchise on switch :(
Same man, same. :(

Was waiting for this thread to pop up. Yeah, I too am a bit disappointed. Was really looking forward to play OOT, WW, TP and MM by years end. Uff!
