My pee-pee don't get hard if there are no platinums, so yeah, trophies all the way.

A platinum is satisfying but I literally never notice whether individual trophies are gold, silver, or bronze. Those distinctions seem pretty meaningless.

Now back to grinding out district crimes in Spider-man...

I like earning platinum trophies more than the alternatives. getting a trophy for getting all the other trophies feels nice. if a game has a nice trophy list I'm also more incentivized to stay with a game longer and earn that platinum. that being said if a game doesn't have a platinum trophy or a reasonably attainable one for my liking I'm more likely to buy that game on say the switch and overall have a better time with the game as i'm not worry about missing anything or doing a thing i'm not fond of just to get all the trophies.

I've got 59 platinums, 5 this year (DQXI, KH3, KH2FMHD PS4, Borderlands remaster, and Rage 2) the next platinum i get will probably be Borderlands 3.

Platinum Trophies are way better.

I like how i tried stuff because of trophies i wouldn't have tried before.

I know they're worthless but still...

Days Gone has a sound glitch for me where the trophy pops but all sound is muted and it's like gaming blue balls.

I prefer the Xbox achievement system for the numerical system, also doesn't forces me to 100% to feel like I have accomplished something.

Plus:

So satisfying!

I like both achievements and trophies, but probably prefer trophies a little more - I really like the platinum trophy as a thing. Mind you I don't go out and slavishly hunt trophies, but I like it as an extra and a meta-layer achievement that has thus far followed you around from one generation of consoles to the next.

I really wish Nintendo would implement something like this, but it doesn't appear to be likely.

Yep. The Platinum also breaks my OCD of feeling like I need to buy the DLC.

My biggest issue with trophies is that the leveling system is fucking stupid. A Lpatinum should automatically level you up.

It's so incredibly stupid that I can have 25 Platinums and be the same level or lower than someone who has 1 or 2. That's borderline broken.

Nah, I'm actually mildly down on it because you can get a platinum and still be at 38% completion because you didn't buy a bunch of DLC.

Additionally, the trophy distribution of some games makes me raise my eyebrows. Sound Shapes has one gold and the rest silver (no bronze). Gorogoa is all golds. Why?
And difficulty is of course subjective, but I don't see the Battle Gareggas or the Dark Souls or the Wipeouts doing this; it's always "easy" games. It irks me that with the trophy system some games can arbitrarily decide they're "worth more" than others.

Since I rarely 100% a game I don't care much about Plats. They are nice though and MS should copy it for 100%. My only beef with the trophy system is the leveling up bit. Wish it was just a big ass number that kept going up like on Xbox. I don't want an xp bar or a level.

If there is one to care about it's this. It's one thing to say "hey my score is high!" when you could have just done a lot of shit in a lot of games, whereas saying "I got everything for a game" is really only proven at a glance if you see the platinum. The overall account, moreso, since you can see how many of them are platinum versus gold/silver/bronze.

Platinum trophies actually put me off because there are quite a few games that i am so close to fully completing but never will and that would drive me mad that a platinum was so close and yet so far. Off the top of my head Wolfenstein 2 and Titanfall 2 both are 1 achievement away from full completion that is so stupidly hard that i refuse to even attempt it because i don't hate myself enough.Although the actual score amount itself has become pretty much meaningless, i just like to use the system to track if i have squeezed as much as much as i can out of a game.

Nope. Being put into place after Xbox achievements will always make them inferior, imo.

But with that said, I haven't truly cared about any of the stuff in years.

I also stopped caring about them when it started taking both consoles OS's forever to load up the compare with a friend screen. Absolutely terribly slow, both Xbox and PS4.

Nah, if anything a platinum is kind of a draw back for me. It's like if I can't get the platinum trophy what's the point of getting any of them? Whereas at least with achievements I still just get to watch the number go up even if I don't get anywhere near 100% of the achievements. Achievements always feel more like "here is what you did accomplish", whereas the trophy system feels more like "here is what you didn't accomplish". At the end of the day, they're both meaningless and I rarely ever look at achievement or trophy lists anymore.

No, it's the opposite. I dislike the Playstation system the most. But on the other hand, I dislike achievement hunting in general.

I prefer Trophies over Achievements, but I really like the rare Achievements on Xbox One, the sound effect with the diamond.

I liked the achievement system and then I switched to Playstation this gen and stopped caring about them at all because of how bad the trophy system is.

It still amazes that Microsoft doesn't want to have some sort of platinum trophy equivalent for Xbox One games so that people that earn the full base list can have something denoting that rather than the 100% being removed when additional achievements are adding for DLC or an update. I've seen publishers add a zero point achievement that is their platinum trophy equivalent.

Wait. Why does it matter who did it first outside of fanboy nonsense?
Because when I cared about this nonsense, it's what I was invested in. Getting the point number higher. Not to mention, trophy support was still shity for a while, as not every game had them, up to a certain point.

No fanboy bs, as you mentioned. Just was invested in one before the other.

All a platinum does is make me think I'm wasting too much of my time. In that way it's a good marker to do something else with my life.

I'm at the stage where I wish achievements/trophies did something new next gen.

It's been 10 years of the same shit and I'm over it.

Can't say I like one system over another but one thing I like about Sony's "here's a big cookie for getting all the other cookies" is it makes it easier to just take one look at my profile and see how many games I have all the cookies for. DLC notwithstanding and all.

I do not have a single platinum trophy or perfect gamerscore but I find the Xbox achievement system far superior to PS trophies. I can look at my gamerscore and feel like I have built something and it tells a story, plus you get that cool little pop up and iconic sound and the rare achievements are even better. I find the PS trophy system to be kinda dull and I just do not care much about earning them.

I switched over from Xbox to PlayStation just because I enjoyed getting the platinum instead of points. Someone can look at my profile and see I'm a completionist vs a number. I'm surprised Xbox doesn't have a platinum equivalent yet

I don't play on PS3/4 but what I miss is how in game stuff used to be tied to achievements.

Want this armor? Unlock this achievement.

Want this thing? Unlock this achievement.

Made me want to go after some of the more interesting ones.

I largely don't care for them anymore. Microsoft also should have done a lot more with "gamerscore"

I like trophy hunting, but rarely go for platinums, so the Xbox's gamerscore system is way more valuable to me. I like having that one cumulative total instead of separate piles of bronzes and silvers and golds and platinums.

Yes, the number of platinum trophies is the only thing i look at in other ppl profiles. Dont care how much trophies they have in total, or what level they are, or the gamescore.

My thoughts as well. The trophy ping is also more satisfying to hear.

Absolutely. I did several 1000/1000 on Xbox but after a while I would just do DLC to get over 1000 so there was no real reason for me to complete games consistently. Since I've started trophy hunting again it's a whole different experience all together. Fallout 76 will be my platinum #30 very soon. :)

Yep and pretty much ever since trophies were introduced I have bought all of my multiplat games on PlayStation because of them. The Platinum is very satisfying to get and usually has a pretty cool image. I just don't get the appeal of getting some random number for getting an achievement. Having the 4 tier trophy system and the level is much more appealing. Not to mention sometimes you get a avatar or theme when you get a Platinum and for awhile Sony Rewards even gave you points for trophies.

I'm just about at 300 Platinums now.
