So yeah i think i'm gonna be using my ps5 on a 1080p monitor atleast for the short term. Anyone else?

I plan on getting a decent 4k monitor somewhere down the line. But tbh kinda looking more forward to reduced loadtimes, better performance and my console not launching into orbit.

Right here for now. I have to 1080p TVs that are showing no signs of breaking soon so I see no reason to blow on a new one. Haven't gotten a Series X yet tho.

Nope. It's too hard to go back lol. I got a TCL, not high end like the LGs, but good enough.

I don't have a next (current?) gen console yet, but I have been gaming on a 24" 1080p monitor since the X360 days and will continue to do so as long at it works. A new console will be expensive enough as is.

7 year old ASUS for me, 1080p and still running beautifully. I plan on getting a 4K display at some point, but I'm good for now.

I have a 1080p 144hz PC monitor, and a 4k TV.
For me it's the best of both worlds - I want to get as close to that 144fps as possible for online gaming purposes, and it's easier to achieve that at a lower resolution. For single player, immersive stuff, I can switch to the TV and target lower fps.

New TVs were something we only ever bought when absolutely necessary as a kid so I kind of adopted that habit. My pc monitor is 1440 but my TV is still 1080. I'll upgrade eventually (especially since the prices for 4k displays are real reasonable now), but I have to find a PS5 first haha.

I actually imagine that'll be the majority of people, but I could be wrong. I'd be so curious to see a breakdown of what TVs people are using with these consoles in the majority. I'm sure on here it's majority 4K, but in the grand scheme of things and all consoles sold this year, I imagine it'll be 1080p!

1080p monitor, but it supports up to 144 Hz refresh rate. I have a budget 4k TV, but I don't see myself picking up a PS5 or Series S/X any time soon.

After a few heated discussions with my wife about buying a new TV, it seemed like I was going to be stuck with 1080p (a very nice 10yr old bravia). However.......

I got a pay rise today, and the nice lady said OK to the TV!

My 1080p LCD still works after 7 years so I don't really see a reason to upgrade.

1080p/60hz! I do need to upgrade my monitor as the HDMI port is busted, though.

144hz 1080p monitor and a 4k TV. I'm good for now, just bought a Samsung nvme, a new hdd and more of ram. Will probably upgrade my 1800x, 1080 and MB in jan-feb. Been months since I've turned on my PS4 or Switch, so I won't buy a PS5 just to play demon's souls, so probably next year for that.

My 1080p TV still works and looks fine to me, plus this way I can enjoy games with a high framerate ray tracing mode with no loss in resolution. I'll probably upgrade eventually, but for now, I'm happy with what I have.

I was going to stay 1080, but yeah got a TCL and don't regret it. I mean, I accept that it was an expensive move, but if it lasts then it was well worth the bump. Even my PS4 popped like I never knew it could.

So what happens when i enabel 120fps mode on my 60hz TV with PS5? Is this combo even possible via settings? Do i have lower input lag? Tearing? Nothing?

My 1080p TV still works just fine so I don't see much of a need to replace it. Getting rid of it simply so I can bump up the resolution, which I'm entirely sure I'd even necessarily notice, seems like a huge waste for me. HDR is a more attractive feature to me but I can live without it. The longer I wait the more value for money I'll be getting as the features start to pile up so I don't necessarily mind waiting.

I'll be 1080p on PC and 4k on TV.
I'm in the same boat. I'd love to upgrade one of my monitors to a higher framerate/resolution, but I already justified the price of my Series X. I don't think I can talk myself into another big purchase right away. Maybe if there is a killer Black Friday sale, otherwise I'll probably wait until next year.

There really are a lot of good reasons to stick to 1080p for a desktop kind of gaming setup : it's the most compatible and least troublesome modern resolution in regards to PC games released even up to the early 2010's. It's the resolution that enables the most "range" for downsampling from 1620p/4K when you can afford it and fall back to 1080p when there are other priorities, such as framerate and ray-tracing. It's also the ideal native resolution for the Switch and pretty much every other HDMI console that can't upscale wathever the internal resolution of the game is higher than 1080p.

So 1080p all the way ! With how the Xbox Series S as well as perfomance/raytracing modes in PS5/Series X are shaping up to be, It seems that this is going to remain an highly enjoyable proposition.

Planning on getting a new TV for my office for the Series X. Currently have it hooked up to my 144hz 1080p monitor, and the One X is still on the big tv :P

I have a series x on a 4k tv and I really can't tell that much difference between 4k and 1080p. To tell the truth, i can't really see the difference between 30fps and 60fps either. There is nothing wrong with my eyes, i just can't tell the difference between 1080p and 4k unless I'm actively looking for differences in draw distance for example.

If I'm honest it's more the feeling of knowing that I'm maximising my gaming experience rather then actually enjoying all the best the new technology offers.

If you, for some reason, can't play on a 4k tv , My honest opinion is that you don't miss that much.

You left 1080i out of the poll. There are dozens of us!

(Ok. It's probably just me.)

That's fair. We all have different tolerances to what we can and can't see. Having the feeling that you're making the most out of your experience should still feel pretty cool, though!

My parents just got me a new 1080p tv to upgrade my old 720p TV I was using last gen. So I guess I'll stick with that becuase there isn't really many options for smaller 4k tvs that would fit in my room.

I have a 4k in the living room and a 1080p in my bedroom. I play the PS5 mostly on the 1080p TV lol.

4K on a TCL 6 Series (65R615-CA) Canadian version
Its a lovely set but games look TREMENDOUS in 60 fps. Games at 30 fps in motion created this ghosting effect.

I'm sure if I had a nice 4k TV with HDR it would be amazing with my PS5, but I can also say playing Demon's Souls at 1080p and 60fps locked is still awesome. I'll choose 'performance' option every time.

My brother is using my Sony W900a with his PS5, still one of the best 1080p TVs... Street Fighter V's colors all the sudden pop (don't know know why).. also Cold War Looks amazing on it (with RT)... and Warzone looks great on it (he was coming from a base PS4).

I want to get him a 120hz TV, but I just know the picture quality won't be as good as this TV. Plan on getting him a LG OLED like my C9 or newer.

I changed the PS5 the setting to performance, to see if he would get better response out of control for Cold War (because I heard that even though you wouldn't see 120fps on a 60hz display, you would feel it).. but I don't think be notices/feels a difference. So I might switch it back to default...until testing other games.

Currently doing last gen (1060 Super PC, OG XB1, PS4 slim, Switch) on a 4K TV.

Ready for upgrades in the future though.

I've been playing on a 1080p TV since my Xbox arrived over a week ago. I'm getting a 4K TV on Friday, though. I had no idea they were so cheap now. 🤔

I'm struggling to give up my 1080p Panasonic plasma from 2009. I'll probably be using it for another year or two, then I'll upgrade.
