Absolutely not. What am I, made of money?

Though really, time is the bigger issue - I don't have the time to play all the games I want even on a single console, nevermind juggling multiple.

Of course. Both platform will have games I want to play.
Starting with Series X for multiplats and Game Pass awesomeness. Getting PS5 once Horizon Forbidden West comes out, could see myself enter early with GT7 too.

Price isn't the issue. Time and offerings are.

I don't really need anything on the Xbox right now.
If the PS4 is an indicator, I barely have enough time to play everything I want on that console.
So while there may be a small handful of titles I'd like to play exclusive to Xbox, do I really want to play them much more than the games I'll be getting on PS5? Probably not really.

I just don't see the need to own more than one console. I have a Switch as well but barely touch it because there isn't a ton I want to play. And of the games that I do want to play, I don't really place them at a higher priority than the games I'm currently playing on PS4.

No. I'll get a PS5 at some point, the release of Horizon Forbidden West will be the latest. I'm building a Zen 3 / RTX 3080 PC, so I have no need for an Xbox.

I would actually have bought the Series S if it had a drive that played 360 discs - A nice, cheap, modern, backwards compat. system so I could retire the old 360 hardware. But that wasn't the way MS chose to roll, so no dice.

I am getting both the Xbox Series X and the PS5 at launch. I am going to sign up for the Xbox All Access program to get the Series X. For the PS5 I have close to $1000 of trade in credit at GameStop. I am getting the Xbox Series X because of Game Pass, Xbox exclusives, multiplatform games, and backwards compatibility. I am getting the PS5 for PlayStation exclusives and for PS4 backwards compatibility. I am going get the

Eventually, yes. I may get both X/S at launch and then get a PS5 when it has enough games to warrant it (as I did with the PS4).

That being said, I still have many PS4 games that I haven't played so I may wait it out for a while.

Will get an X around the launch of RE8 or Halo Infinite (whichever comes first) and a PS5 some time in 2022.

PS5 first, Series X probably later (when my PC will start to be too restricted for new Gamepass releases I want to play)

Nope. Not even considering the PS5 right now due to noise concerns. I'm convinced it's going to be loud again. It was never addressed sufficiently enough for me. I know Cerny briefly mentioned it, but I was more convinved by Phil describing their engineering considerations w/r/t heat and noise and was more persuaded by their solution vs. using smaller faster fans with a larger volume console to handle heat.

Of course. All consoles all the time.

Plus I have a lot of friends who play online console shooters and would rather play on xbox if it's going to be the more powerful machine. That always helps.

Neither at launch. Most likely, I will get a PS5 down the road when the first round of exclusive games are $20 or less and we have a cheaper revision of the Disc Version. For the Xbox, I think for the Halo games and Gamepass I might end up getting a Fire HD 10 tablet on sale at some point and just do xCloud and Gamepass with that.

Getting an Xbox Series X for sure, and will likely later get a PS5 - particularly if there's a lower priced version.

Yup for the first time ever I plan to get both new consoles only because they have Backwards Compatibility that enhances previous gen games and my backlog is so extensive still. If there wasn't any backwards compat I would have skipped both as there's no launch window titles that even come close to interesting me to that point

Getting Series X on launch as my main console.

Will get a PS5 in March or sometime after for Horizons 2.

Odd concern. There are no reports at all that PS5 is noisy.

Playstation 5 for me, then most likely Switch Pro. I want to see how GamePass is within a year, and decide then.. if I will get a Series S or not.

Eventually, yeah. I'll do the Series X and standard PS5 because I like my games on discs.

I was going to hold off on both, but if I get picked in the PS5 preorder lottery, I will buy one. I just hope that the PS4 BC is broad and solid, because the PS5 will likely just replace my PS4 Pro. I don't have room for both on my entertainment center, and if it's gonna play my PS4 games, I won't need both anyways.

Ps5 at launch and possibly series x later if it gets some decent exclusives and multiplatform games look significantly better than on ps5.

Yes but I'm gonna wait a while for the PS5 so that exclusives can stack up, I know there aren't any major hardware defects, (e.g. Red Ring of Death) and maybe a price cut.

I'll definitely get the PS5 with discdrive.
Kinda wanna have a Series S as well. I have 2 years of game pass left and I can trade in my One SAD for 100 bucks..

xbox at launch and playstation when god of war 2 comes out is what im thinking

usually have both. (didn't have og xbox tho). I loved 360 and didn't care for PS3 at first, but PS3 ended up my fave console that gen.
Xbox ended up my fave this time around, and with the amount of BC games and gamepass stuff im in the Xbox ecosystem for life i guess.

I'm seriously swamped. over 100 games on XBOX and PS4, unspeakable amounts on PC... it's just out of hand. feels like setting fire to cash at this point.

Silly philosophical moment, you picked everything was easy to grab ? Easy because was cheap or easy because was a consensus on how good the game is.

I bet you didn't choose each one mindfully. So just take a look again on how much of those you really I mean really want to play, time is finite, not going on the "you should make time for other hobbies" just the simple fact that you can clean you backlog of rubbish you will necessarily have more time for the important games .
Sorry if I went more than I should with your business

I didn't that, I truly had only 20 games on backlog and I just close the generation and don't come back, in case, I'm up to date o Ps4/switch/PC (just pc exclusives are included) and Xbox naturally have everything from Xbox one era, so that's my back log now (and is about 8 games ).

You don't have to bet, I guarantee I chose them because I had money to spend and I wanted them, that's it. That's literally all I bought them for. Don't worry, no offense taken, I have muddled over how stupid I have been with this hobby for a while now in terms of money. Ideally, I would finish up what games I have on the systems, sell them, stick to one. Realistically, that'll never happen, so I may just sell them anyway and stick to one, that being PC.

It may also help to explain that I'm an achievement hunter, so buying up games is kinda part of the hobby, but I will say it has gotten far, far too excessive for my tastes.

For those buying an Xbox and one of the new graphics cards....why? There won't be a single game you can play on the console that won't run better on PC. With every MS exclusive coming day and date to PC Gamepass, it seems monumentally wasteful.

PS5 + PC served me well this gen. Since I have a PC I literally see no reason for owning the XSX.

After the 360 I completely lost any interest in Xbox exclusives.

ps5 and a proper pc in the new year will do me, hardly used my switch so no point buying a better one it'll get similarly ignored. gone off the idea of a series s as well, seems pointless if my pc isn't a spud like currently.
