After subbing to ea access and giving the game another go, I'd be hard pressed to recommend even at that price. Population is shite and even the tiny bump from being added to access is probably gone.
I doubt there will any major expansions or content additions for this game going forward. Avoid.

If EA/Bioware is true to their word and isn't abandoning Anthem, I expect they're working on an overhaul and will launch it alongside some sort of F2P model.
Well the thing is Destiny 2 is actually a good game and they have newer expansions to supplement it. Anthem...not so much. They have a long way to go before they should even be considering F2P because there simply isn't enough content in the game to keep people playing.
The time sink is more of an ask than the money sink. Based on what Ive heard I have zero interest in putting in the hours it would

Give it another week for it to be 4.99, then it'll be part of a humble bundle pay what you want game bundle.
I mean the community isn't there to play this unless you can find a group to play it with and not have to rely on matchmaking.
That said, all these stupid fucking "that's still too much" hot takes are dumb as shit. For 10 bucks there is more than enough content to have some fun with, the mechanics of the game are fun, it was content that was a problem.

Again I will repeat, the game is fun to play, there simply wasn't enough of it for 60 dollars.
And I grabbed that out of a gamestop bargain bin for 4.99 about a year ago. The biggest thing about me not wanting to buy heavily discounted games is less about the cost...its about the hard drive space. Games are getting bigger, they take a couple of hours to download and I have to remove other games in order to fit larger ones so It better be something thats worth all the hassle.
The story is bad and the game world feels very bland. The gameplay is mediocre. You could spend $10 on this or play destiny for free which at least has decent shooting.
I don't really care about the story either, it's all about the gameplay for me. If *that* is bad though, then I guess it's a pass. Destiny seems all right, but the idea of flying around the maps in Anthem always seemed cool to me. But Destiny is indeed free, vs $10. It's nt much, I may still pick it up just to see what makes everyone think it's so terrible. Thanks for the clarification though, much appreciated.
The real problem is that anthem is just mediocre and forgettable. Not even entertaining to rag on the game because it's just a nothing of an experience.

Remember when so many people were talking about how this game might "kill" Destiny?
Well they where going of having tried the combat which was a ton of fun, and with Biowares history of great stories (and Destiny 2 having an utterly shite one) I can see why there was hope. In the end the loot system was a joke, the skill system was flawed, the campaign to short and open ended, not to mention the million upon million of bugs and utterly baffling design decisions, and Anthem sadly ended up being a very bad game. Destiny 2 apart from Forsaken is simply utterly mediocre, which is still vastly better than its competitors sadly.
