So, this seems kinda cool but I'm definitely not going to preorder it.

The actual combat seems fun. It looks like basically Warframe mixed with Monster Hunter, rather than a straight Destiny clone. I'm concerned about the size of the game world and replayability of the content. This game seems very content heavy, but the problem with that in loot games is that after you've seen the content once, after that you just want to get through it over and over to get the drops. Why are we getting drops in Anthem? Is there a raid? I don't think there'll be PVP will there, so that's one grind that's not in the mix.

So yea, I'm interested in how Anthem turns out but it's definitely not day one for me, mainly because these games are so hard to get right and also cos EA.

About the game world... i REALLY hope im wrong about it but i have a feeling that we see the whole map in the alpha already :/

For those on PC, how's performance? I know is an Alpha but this should give an idea of things to come.

Awful. I have a 1080ti and 8700k. Playing the game at 4k on the medium preset puts my FPS all over the place. You'll never get 60fps unless you're in a narrow area, but I didn't expect much from an alpha.

On a side note, the game is amazing. It gives me mass effect vibes with the social focus of destiny.

EDIT: I should mention that even on medium, the game looks amazing.

I also have the same specs but a 1440p monitor. I had no graphical hiccups and everything was ultra.

Right. I don't think that's necessarily a bad thing - overall I'm guessing it's just over half the combined map size of all the maps in Monster Hunter World, so that's not necessarily a dealbreaker. The thing about MHW though is that those maps plus the way the monsters interact with them on the hunts is what makes that game. Until we know what the repeatable missions are actually like, it's very hard to know how well they'll make use of that map.

I'm running an i9-9900k w/ a 2080 ti, and 32gb of ram on an m2 ssd, and was getting steady 60fps at 4k with everything maxed.

However, the light/dark (adaptive exposure) was absolutely horrible. Game needs a lot of lighting balancing, or at least a far better exposure control system.

And there's no FOV slider, I mean, come on, already.

Anthem is made up of from the OG Mass Effect team correct? Maybe even some DICE team members with Frostbite powering it. Im hopeful map size and content will be decent. EA needs Anthem to be a hit after Mass Effect Andromeda's launch. Battlefield V launch wasn't all that great either but BFV is in better shape now.

I definitely have thoughts, but I'll of course refrain from writing them down anywhere until folks have a chance to try out the beta. (I'll give the beta a whirl, too.)

I have a similar system, but my CPU is a 8700K@ 4.9, everything else the same so this bodes promising for the final release.
Absolutely amazing. Optimization wizardry going on here and I'm impressed
Thanks.

Why do some people think an ALPHA is a finished game. This was more for Bioware than us. Next month will be the real deal.

That is a concern I have with the PC version. To be fair, I probably should've just said "game needs work" or nothing at all because there are numerous platform-agnostic issues I've identified too. All of my major problems and feedback I outlined in a closed alpha EA forum topic.

Using a month old build when a newer one was available is on Bioware/EA as far as I am concerned. Stress testing the server infrastructure is a one excuse, but I was also under the impression that Bioware was soliciting feedback on the game too. Especially given that the game is less than three months from release and any significant changes probably need to be decided on and planned ASAP.

Don't get me wrong, I largely enjoyed the small slice of Anthem that I played. But claiming "it's an Alpha and old build" is not a blanket shield from all criticism.
They are soliciting that - in their tester forums. Posting it HERE is literally just breaking the NDA for the exact reason that NDAs exist to begin wtih: Because it's an issue they're aware of and claim to have already fixed internally. All it does is spread misinformation. Hence me now having to come in and correct it, which is avoided by just not breaking it in the first place. If you think it's an issue in 2 months when they're running betas then it's probably worth telling people, but right now when they made a post specifically addressing that point? It's just adding confusion for people.

It's not about 'answering' your criticism - it's about the fact that they addressed it BEFORE you even played the game, and you agreed not to discuss things like that for that very reason. There is a time and place for criticism, and indeed if they had not made that post that would be VERY valuable feedback (in private, on the forums as intended), but since they did it's meaningless at this point. All you can do is wait and see if they did in fact address it in the future like they said.

Yes, like sea of thieves.
"Please keep in mind that we've disabled most of the game's features and mechanics with the intent to focus on server performance. You won't be able to see most of the open world, RPG elements or use any customization options which will be available at launch. "

You're either intentionally being obtuse or you genuinely think an RPG only has 1 mission.

Either way, you're just spreading garbage misinformation

I disclosed nothing confidential in my original post in this thread. "The PC version needs work." was the entirety of my comment. If you consider that text to be breaking the NDA, then what is your response that brought up an issue specific to Anthem's Closed Alpha build?

I also disagree with your assertion that my post was feedback or an impression of the game. Furthermore, if my "misinformation" is weighed heavily enough to cost EA a sale in three months when this game is released, then that person is a fool to consider an internet stranger's out-of-date opinion to be so important instead of relying on current information.

In any case, this particular conversation is adding nothing of value to the thread and I've already elaborated on my concerns via EA's forums, so I'll call it here. Feel free to have the last word if you'd like to respond.

That's absolutely breaking the NDA. And that's why I brought up the M+K issue since it was known ahead of time, and it sounded like you possibly weren't aware. You don't need to get defensive about it, but it's not about 'considering' it breaking the NDA - it IS breaking the NDA, and it's doing it for the exact reason the NDA exists in the first place.

In terms of open world scale and activities, Anthem is comparable to The Division, not Destiny.

There are open spaces where you can roam around freely as well as dungeons and mission areas in many spots.

Any conversation or sharing with a "3rd party" of anything related to the Alpha, aside from mentioning your participation, can reasonably be construed as a breach of the NDA.

Yes, like sea of thieves.

Based on what has been made publicly available, this is way off base.

And I loved Sea of Thieves.

Oh, I'm not on the Alpha, but how do they make the link between people here and those in the Alpha anyway ?
They can't. At most they'd check to see if your era username is in their system. Even then it's not like they could just ban an account because it has the same name or something similar.

Probably a similar way Rockstar tracked down and sent a legal rep to a ERA member's home because they leaked gameplay from RDR2 that was under a reviewer's NDA...all from just his ERA user name.

Where there's a will, there's a way. lol
