Was reading yesterday about Texas power issues, and to lessen the load, people were asked to "conserve power when they can by setting their thermostats to 78-degrees." That's probably warmer than most usually leave it at, and pretty sure this question has been asked here before, but what temperature is your home set to this summer?

I think ours here is 23º / 24ºC (73º / 75ºF)

Only on the rare days when it gets unbearable do we turn on the AC. Otherwise we just have the windows open.

Fresh air >>>>>> AC any day of the week.

In our old house, we had to set it to like 68 just to be comfortable because the house was so poorly designed (3 floors, master bedroom over garage). Even setting at 68 would make the middle floor tolerable, and the top floor would still be hot. Had we stayed we were going to install zone cooling.

New house is single floor. Will probably leave it around 71.

My parents are getting old and keep the house at 76. It's insane. And then my mom will come inside from her patio and bemoan how cold the house is. It's insanity.

We have a wall unit that has a funky smell when it uses the thermostat so we have to do it ourselves. I try to keep it between 68 and 74.

I don't have AC. We build houses that have great isolation so it's nice and cool inside.

UK here, even on super hot days window open, boiler off (New one, last died has no thermostat so have manual control of it which probably saves me money) and maybe a fan on. During winter about 18ºC, maybe up to 21ºC on a Friday evening.

No A/C. So just a fan. Haven't really needed it yet, but I've been sleeping with the fan on since last week. Warm enough to enjoy the breeze.

I don't have an AC or anything. But 20° is perfect for me. Would've kept it at that.

I haven't turned on my AC yet. Virginia has been hovering in the low to mid 70s so far. But I usually set it to 74 when the heat starts turning up.

It depends on if I'm home alone or not.

If I'm hone alone, I set the AC to 75 in the summer, if I'm not, I set it to 77. (My grandpa always complains about how cold he is if I set it lower than 77)

I live in South Florida btw.

75. I used to keep it at 77 which was fine for my bedroom since it's close to the air handler, but other parts of the house were too warm.

No AC, so my thermostat is off. My place is well-shaded, so it only gets hot when the temperature outside gets ridiculous.
I love my summer electricity bills as they're about $20 a month.

on avg, 76 or so during the day. I get away with not running it as much lately because the room setup as my home office receives less direct sunlight than the rest of the house.

Ranges from 75 to 77 always cooler at night or I can't sleep. It's a small place so heat can build up easily.

76F when I'm not home 69F when I am home although I usually have windows open and the internal temp rarely rises about 72/73 unless its super hot out

74 in Texas... For the most part that temp is fine, but lately at night I feel like 73 is better, since it's starting to get more hot.

It's set around 71 or so most days. We have one minisplit downstairs and two window units upstairs and we try to keep them set around the same. Sometimes we have to lower the temp upstairs because otherwise it gets unbearably warm.

During the day I can just turn on the ceiling fan and handle it getting up to 77-78 in the house. That will get through the majority of the day without the central air being on, at least during this time of year when it is still cooling off a lot at night.

Bedtime, though, I need an ice box to sleep. Have a window unit in our bedroom that I turn on to 69ish degrees, and I sleep with a sheet for a blanket.

In southern Louisiana, anything higher than 75 in this 70%+ humidity is just awful. But I generally keep it around 72, though it doesn't help that previous tenant literally painted all the windows shut :/

I have a question. We bought an older house in November and unfortunately it has window units and not central air. I've never owned a place without central air but it gets pretty hot in there. As a frugal person I mainly only want to use the AC when home and needed. However what's a temperature where things will start to suffer from the heat? Consoles, TV's, etc?

It's only May in Kansas and I have come home to it being 81.

I have central air for the first time in my life this summer. It's been great.

I have it set to 75F during the day, 74F at night. Comfortable without being obnoxious.

No AC, only fans this year. Upstairs bedrooms can get close to ~100 degrees sooooo there will be lots of nudity and cold showers.
