Looked at the Naruto databook measurements and like....

narutoversity.wordpress.com

Second Databook Character Files

Akamaru Birthday: July 7 (4 years old, Cancer) Height: 29.1 cm Weight: 5.3 kg Blood Type: ? Personality: [Missing] [Missing Data] [Missing Data] With Kiba he runs, coming reliably as his partner! F…

Might Guy: 6'0", 168 pounds (he works out literally nonstop...)
Minato: 5'9", 146 pounds
Tsunade: 5'3.5", 108 pounds (... no)
16 year old Naruto: 5'6", 112 pounds (Did Jiraiya not teach him how to eat food)

I know that not everyone needs superhero muscles, but some of these guys are pretty close and it feels odd that they would be so light considering their superhuman strength.

But of course, these measurements are nothing compared to the ultimate measurement failure in anime.

Son Goku: 5'9", 137 pounds

Yeah, no.

The conversation behind these measurements.

"Hey, how much did you weight in high school?"
"I dunno, probably 130, 140"
"Gotcha ::writes in 140::"

I thought this was going to be about anime "D cups", but this is certainly true as well. I also love characters being drawn tall as hell and then being 5'8

Goku 137 pounds?! 🤣🤣🤣🤣

the HELP Menu.
I have a theory that most "data" used for anime and japanese videogame characters are mainly marketing tools, and are not fully representative of artistic intention in their development as designs and characters.

Such as how all the Old Men are like in their mid to late 30's and young adults are like 16 or something.

This is unsubstantiated so my apologies if it comes off rude or baseless but I've seen so much nonsense in this regard that I can't help going "Auron is not 35, are you kidding me"

It pertains to anime video games too, like Guilty Gear.

I think Sol Badguy is under 200 pounds when that dude is built like a power forward.

I love the old transformer databooks. Everyone's gun had a range of 30 miles and we're hotter than the sun.

If you think that is bad, look at Gundam weights. I know giant robots are impractical but come on.

Wing Gundam
Overall Height = 16.3 meters
Empty Weight = 7.1 metric tons

Real life Abrams Tank = 55 Tons

It's just as bad for most mecha settings. Gundam Wing was some particular space nonsense with things like 7 ton Leos.

UC Gundum isn't immune from this either. The numbers are only really comparable for any particular show and some of them are just nuts. The Gelgoog Jager from the One Year War having higher acceleration than the Zeta Gundam comes to mind.

Gundamian alloy!
But actually, given how mobile suits don't collapse in on their own weight it actually makes sense they'd be made out of a super light, but durable material

User Warned: Drive-By; Thread Whining
Man people need to get back to using the thread prefixes, it was nice not seeing anime threads.

The Stussining
I'm convinced that the culture of this is artists and creators going "fuck it sounds good enough". Cause some of the info in the data books is just weird.

Ki must be literal super helium, maybe that's why DBZ characters can fly
