? Are you mocking me for liking the series or for importing the Japanese version of Dawn of Dreams?

Nope to both: I love the series as well and I bought the JP version of Dawn after learning what Capcom USA did to the game. It's just nice to see people spreading the love about that version as most people played the western release!

Does the PS4 version have an extra's gallery showing off the original PS1 build?

Nope. I would have loved that.

I bought it!

Waiting for 2 which I never got to play, and the one with Jean Reno, which is a crazy cross over.

Hopefully they port them.

Cool, I'd only seen that meme used to mock.

I loved the series and this style of game (I even really enjoyed the 1st Genji on the PS2). Old style Resident Evil with Samurai and demons. Nioh doesn't really scratch the same itch for me.

Got it when it came out. Had a great time with it, but isn't my personal favorite in the series. Now if they can manage to get Onimusha 2 out.....that was my jam. Really loved the branching paths.

I didn't even know that meme was used to mock... I'll likely never use it again then.

I really enjoyed Genji as well by the way! Too bad the sequel... Wasn't good in the end.

And Nioh is on my wishlist.

Bought it, played it (for the first time) on Steam, enjoyed it.

Would buy more if they released the sequels.

I was a huge Onimusha fan. I remember around the time the original RE2 released, Mikami did an interview where they asked him, "So what's your next project?" "I've been thinking about doing a Resident Evil type of game but set in feudal Japan." My jaw hit the floor. I know he didn't direct Onimusha, but I always assumed it originated from the idea he mentioned. I played Oni 1 and 2 multiple times, Oni 3 took the wind out of my sails with the stupid time travel/modern day crap... figures it became the fan favorite. I liked Dawn of Dreams much more.

Anyway, I couldn't wait for the Oni 1 remaster. Started in on it on day 1.Then when I got to the sliding panel puzzle, I decided to "take a break..." Never went back. Just bought a new replacement PS4 Pro this week w/ 2 TB and spent almost a whole day installing games. I picked up Oni 1 and looked at it and said "Nah" and put it back on the shelf.

I love Onimusha and got the remaster day 1. I'm hoping it's release was a reaffirmation by Capcom that they plan on revisiting the series in earnest in the best future.

I also really enjoyed the sliding puzzle because I no longer have to resort to a walkthrough to solve it. That shit was a pain in the ass on PS2 with no memory card... So stressful. Good thing it was early on in the game.

Got it day 1. I'm a huge fan of the series, including Tactics and Blade Warriors (despite their many, many flaws). The asking price at launch, I guess, was a lot to ask for a game that really got no sort of upgrade outside of a mediocre visual bump. I remember, though, seeing quite a few sites posting reviews when it came out.

PS - there have been 8 Onimusha games.

They remastered the wrong game if they were only going to do one...i would (re) play the crap out of Dawn of Dreams- so much great content, so much less linear than the rest of the series.

I'm playing through it now for the first time, will then be playing 2, 3, and DoD. Looking forward to it and hoping all of them get remastered.

I played through the HD remaster at launch on Switch and aside from one frustrating puzzle section sandwiches between unskippable cutscenes and
a bizarre, depressing epilogue,
I found it to be a great game. The new "modern" controls they added made it a lot more accessible than the original game was.

It's too bad people are so turned off by fixed-camera games. Looking forward to a remaster of the next game.

While it's obviously not a remake like RE1 and 2, it's still a pretty nice remaster.

I hope it did well enough that we get at least a new version of Onimusha 2 as well.

I bought it a while back on sale, and recently finished it (it's a pretty short game, around 4-5 hours). I really enjoyed it, as I did back then, and appreciated the remaster team sticking very close to the original.

Wether people who never played back it back on PS2, will be able to enjoy it, Im not sure.

Having replayed it, I found it to be a form of proto Souls - or atleast From being indpired by it. The whole reposte/backstab being basically lifted from Onimusha (the feel is exactly the same), the soul absorbtion, the focus on exploration/ encounter-design and the boss fights.

I like classic RE games. I kind of like the action gameplay. But...

I don't know.

It doesn't really excel at anything and if I wanted to play an action game with youkai, there's nioh ...
