Personally I see this as not a big issue, but saying that non-hardcore gamers/parents/grandparents don't care about the functionality of the 300-500€/$ toy they're going to buy for Christmas is a bit silly.
Considering that person is wrong, I'm not sure this helped your point.
I don't want to sound like a jerk, but...isn't it kinda their job to be knowledgeable about the products they are selling? If everybody knew exactly what they want to buy, they would just get it from Amazon, or any other major retailer.
Also, these comments still fail to explain how it is somehow possible to sell stuff like smartphones or cars (both of which frequently have several similar SKUs) without the sky falling.
Stop trying to make fetch happen! So many people want this to be a thing.
It's not going to be a thing.
Stop it.
They're not wrong. The Series S features BC enhancements.Considering that person is wrong, I'm not sure this helped your point.
Honestly, Microsoft's naming scheme for the XBox line has always been weird and it's not going to get any better.
What happens with the inevitable smaller system?
Xbox Series XS?
WHY?
This is great. Someone who's saying it isn't confusing is confused.
I'm fairly certain they (IGN) meant for it to be that way so they can garner all the clicks from the confusion.
There had to be a simpler way to communicate that headline.
Let's try this with a playstation equivalent...
The discless PS5 will not run PS4 Pro enhanced versions of backwards compatible games, but will instead run PS4 Slim versions of PS4 and PS3 titles.
It's just a badly constructed sentence.
I'm dreading the day when my friends call me to explain this shit to them because their son wants a Xbox.
I would imagine the whole purpose of the Series S/X name is because in the future they will have an Xbox Series S2 and an Xbox Series X2. If they don't do that, then this naming convention is stupid. If they do that, then this naming convention was a necessary reboot.Honestly, Microsoft's naming scheme for the XBox line has always been weird and it's not going to get any better.

I'd be interested to see someone come up with less confusing wording that states the same facts.

This.I mean, it looks like word salad if you're mindlessly doomscrolling, but it's perfectly cogent and clear if you take a moment to actively read it.
I mean, no? The job of gamestop employees is to sell Funkos, they're not paid to study console specs outside of their office hours. Even if it was, it doesn't mean I can't feel bad for how annoying I imagine some customer conversations about the xbox series consoles are going to be.
I'm sorry but Microsoft's naming in this generation is the Wii U debacle all over again.
We'd had the grandma thread recently though on this?
He is confused. The Series S is going to play Xbox One S games without any Xbox One X enhancements. Do I have the wrong facts?
