at 1440p and 4k, will there be much difference between a 3600x and a 5900x? just THOUGHTS will be fine!! i just wanna know if it will be worth it staying up to 1am here to try and grab one :/

Yeah this is what I want to know - what am I going to see at 1440p and 4k. I have the exact same chip as you and considering the exact same upgrade...I don't really care about 1080p gaming.

I get there is a lot of apprehension and excitement but I don't believe there will be anywhere near the stock issues at launch or coming weeks like Nvidia with these.
AMDs 7nm yields have shown to be strong and there isn't anywhere near the change and sexiness of new CPUs on a years old platform in some cases verus Ampere and RX6000.

I'd probably pass on the 5950X then, because video editing won't scale well up to 16 cores. Might be worth it if you want to encode videos while you're gaming.
I have no idea how many they're getting, but I imagine they got a lot of orders since it's been up for a bit. But worst case you get put on backorder. I would be up at 6am PST just in case if you want one potentially faster.
Oh yea that's right. I thought the £ price I quoted was with VAT. But it wasn't.I thought that, but for UK, just looking at Ryzen 7 5800x since it is the one I want:
US MSRP = $449
Add 20% VAT = $538.80 = £415.62
So anything close to that is okay I think.

Interesting that the 5800 and 5900 are neck-and-neck. I really wonder whether moving to 2 x chiplets is worth it.
It could be that the game was gpu bottlenecked for those CPUs

I bought a 3600XT a week ago because my old CPU died. It's still in the return window. Guess what I'm doing.
I just ordered it from B&H and I am from Canada. It comes up with tax and duty (free shipping) to 1253$
Got charged instantly on my CC. Now the waiting game has begun.

There's no such thing as a GPU bottleneck on watch dogs legion lol. at 4k, my 3080 only runs at 65-70% of it's capabilities because of my 4.9Ghz i7 7700k bottlenecking the game !
I managed to order one from Memory Express (Canada) with a motherboard bundle, in-store pick up only.
5800X is an 8 core part. Most games don't utilize more than a few cores and both chips boost to similar levels. 3800X will occasionally even outperform it because it's all on one chiplet instead of 2 like the 3900X and 3950X.
preordered the 5900x on B&H. I'll be upgrading from a 1600. Hoping the upgrades gonna be worth the cost of a new build.🤞🏽I'm gonna pair it with a RX 6800 XT if I can manage to secure stock

Digitec has some 5600x, but it seems no 5800x or 5900x
5800X yeah... i really hope to not miss it... i already missed the 3080 and had to pay more to get it... Also i checked digitec and they don't have any 5600 in stock either

According to the price comparison site geizhals.at there's exactly one shop listing the 5900X (as an example), the Polish version of Proshop (a Danish company), lol.
5900X is 6-core + 6-core CCXs with a 100Mhz boost over 5800X. If the scheduler is working properly a game shouldn't need to jump out of the 6-cores much and the clock bump negates any small latency penalty when it does probably.
If clockspeed is the same then, should a Zen 2 and Zen 3 MCM (6+6 for example) perform the same?
