No question Doug Jones is the pinnacle at it, but it's not like he's the only guy to have ever given a good performance in heavy prosthetics and makeup. Other than making some adjustments to make facial movement easier and expressive in real life, I don't see much of anything about the Turian design that would need heavy tweaking. But you're right in that if all else fails, they could go that route. I just don't think it's that necessary.

I was more referring to the locomotive / legs part. Facial performance is paramount and totally the most important part to get right. But personally I see little value in trying to get a Turian's (or Quarian) chicken hips and legs and feet 'lore correct' since it really doesnt add much besides some novelty / pandering to fans of the series and is just a barrier for the performer.

what if they get Karpyshyn as a consultant and they use his original idea for the Reaper lore? I dunno. Something to fix the ending of 3. They have that opportunity to deviate to do something better.

they should leave the reapers alone entirely and set it after the trilogy honestly. A universe in rebuild from its former glory is a decent starting point for a big budget sci fi show

I get what you're saying, but I really don't think it would be that big a deal. It's not like Jones played the only Kelpian on the show either.

give us the shepard siblings

one paragon, one renegade

one vanguard, one infiltrator

double the romance

shep 2 gets indoctrinated

1 shep survives at the end
This could be great if done well. One of the criticisms of Mass Effect 2 and 3 was that they didn't have a central facing villain, unlike ME1's Saren. Having a Shepard sibling be the main villain of 2 and 3 could be great. Both siblings join Cerberus in the ME2 arc, but the Renegade sibling would make the heel turn and join the Illusive Man in the end.

The ME universe is a solid setting for a series, but I wouldn't touch Shepard with a ten foot pole were I a showrunner. The Shepard story is waaaay too personal to individual players, to the point that I can't imagine a Shepard characterization would result in anything but universal annoyance.

Use the universe, and the secondary characters if you like, but I think they'd be better off leaving Shep to the games.

That would be sick... please don't suck. I hope they do smaller stories, not like Galaxy Ending events. Would love some C-Sec corruption drama or a Feros sort of experience. You could have one season dedicated to one planet (like Midnight Mass)...

It may be slightly pedantic, but it doesn't really say a Mass Effect adaptation is in the works, it says they are working on a deal to do one. I imagine if Amazon wants it bad enough, it'll happen and all, but still, it not exactly the same thing.
Yeah I altered the thread title to say as much. The talks could fall apart completely so saying the series is "in development" is quite premature.

Guaranteed to be the most boring adaptation of anything ever

I hope they stay the fuck away from anything related to the Reapers. That entire plotline is dumb.

Agreed.

If they want to use some of the games characters, they could make it about Anderson's first years as a Spectre. Opens up many things while still keeping close to things like the Normandy.

It's going to be paragon dude Shephard with a (multi-)female romance following a truncated Reapers plotline for five seasons of LeoPointing.meme

Great, franchise deserves a TV series and not a movie.

I have no issues with them telling Shepard and the Reaper's story. It's the most interesting thing and the groundwork is all laid out for them.

There's some obvious and necessary changes and improvements they have to and should do for it. But just because the game series is about choice and creating your own story and Shepard doesn't mean the TV series can't tell its own version of the tale.

They don't need to write off the Reapers. They just need to install a facing villain in the story arcs of mass effect 2 and 3.

Definitely hope they go with a female lead. You can't beat or hope to recreate the visual perfection that is Sheploo, not even with Cavill, so don't bother. Plus FemShep is superior in every other regard.

It seems, Quinton, that my, some would say excessive in numbers, threads about Mass Effect paid off.

The two seems obviously related.

Do you remember waaaay back when I made a thread on BSN that had entirely too much detail on a five-season treatment for the trilogy? I think I mapped like 65 episodes or something. Pie-in-the-sky stuff.

We're seeing blueberries in our weekly forecast tonight.

The entire BSN experience feels like a blur to me. I only remember one thing about it: a poll right after ME2's launch where people voted it as the better Mass Effect game. And that's it. I don't even remember the mess with ME3 launch, I only remember the memory of knowing it happened, if that makes any sense.

I would love it if it was something original in the Mass Effect universe instead of an trilogy adaptation but I'll watch either way.

Yeah, it does.

I remember certain members more so than anything. Including you! Mesina, Phaedon, SkyShep (an IRL friend of mine now), Vertigo.

Don't ask me to recall if any of them sorta sucked as people. That I cannot remotely remember.

I'm sceptical to say the least. Even ignoring the abysmal track record of Video Game adaptions, I personally don't find Mass Effect's universe to be that remarkable. The setting works just fine for Video games, but take it out of the medium, and I'm not sure what it has to offer.

Edit: I'm sorry if I come off as an asshole. I don't mean to insult the series or the fans of its Universe. I actually really like Mass Effect. I'm just not certain how well it will translate to television.
