We're finally reaching the last piece of the next-gen preordering puzzle. Just a few days away before we should finally know the pricing philosophy of Sony's future consoles.

My guess? They're going to spend the showcase really impressing us with games, making those watching feel like they need one of these new consoles, and then hit us with a competitive price: $499 PS5, $399 PS5D.

What's your guess? How high would the price have to be to make you pass on preordering?

Standard 499-449
DE - 399 - 349

Most likely 499/399 but I won't be shocked if either are $50 cheaper.

No point investing heavily in exclusives and having all the hype behind you if you can't price accordingly. If they still have to undercut MS hardware and take a huge loss, then that is proof exclusives really don't matter.

I've been saying $499/$399 for months like many others, I see no reason for it to have changed.

100$ less for a digital seems crazy to me honestly, a disc drive can't possibly mean so much less production costs.

I'm guessing $399/$499, but a $399 PS5 would deflate any hype that Xbox has generated lately.

It's been talked about ad nauseum, but it also means that consumers who buy the digital-only version will be buying 100% of their games from the Playstation Store, so Sony would theoretically get a lot more money out of them vs someone buying physical discs. So it's not just the production cost of including the disc drive that constitutes the price difference.

I hope nice gamer friendly Sony is back so: 499/399 but with 100 000 000 ps4s sold I think arrogant Sony is back with 549/449. Going for 399 Ps5 DE in an instant if this will be the case.

$549 / $449 here. I still think they're going to be typical Sony and use to price to drive home the "premium" angle. And I still think the stock model is going to be closer to $599 but that wasn't an option without jacking up the digital version to $499

I think Sony will eat a big loss on the digital edition to offer PS5 at the same price point that worked so well for them with PS4 and PS4 Pro.

I was a little iffy on the $399 dream before but with a $299 Xbox on the horizon I think Sony probably feels a little pressure to go lower than they may have wanted to.

I'm still on the 449/499 prediction, but I'm really hoping for 399/499.

The DE is a real puzzle in my brain, I can't decide.

I'm going 499/449.

This is a pretty good deal for the hardware their packing but I don't see them as hungry enough to price the DE at 399.

If you look at the PS4 it feels like they have been happier to sit on higher margins vs volume and I think it will be the same going forward.

I think it's going to be $499 / $399 but I'm voting $449 / $399 because I think this is why they've been waiting for Microsoft to price first.
