You must select one or the other. If you feel like the only winning move is not to play, your only option is not to vote. Got it memorized?
I don't care if you hated both. If you played them, you're contractually obligated to tell the good people of esteemed internet website ResetEra which one you hated less. If you abhorred them equally, now you're being forced to alter your opinion, even if only slightly.
You're also strongly encouraged to go into at least a bit of detail as to why you liked the one you voted for more than the one you did not vote for. If you do not do this then we are nothing but a group of voters. A bloc. And if that is what we have been reduced to, my treasured friends, then why are we still here? Just to suffer?
There's this really hip little bar scene in Downtown Durham, North Carolina called Pour. You pour stuff yourself. You pour it into your glass.
Personally, I prefer FFXV. It's by no means perfect. It screws up several things I think are key to a successful story. The decision to go open world for a while and then switch to a more focused plot, while ample on paper, ends up awkward as heck because once you're done with the open world you're like 70% into the game but 30% into the plot. This results in the remaining 70% of the plot feeling almost as haphazard as the 30% of the plot which was attempted to be told during the first 30% of the game. Oh my fucking god, I have no idea if that makes sense.
But the world itself was cool. The villain was cool. The free patches made the game more... cool. Some of the DLCs also contributed to the overall coolness. The revised final dungeon? Cool. The finale in general? Oddly enough, cool. It stuck the landing... somehow. Noctis is cool. Ignis is cool. Prompto's cool. Gladio is nearly shirtless. Which, if you're into that, is cool.
I also really enjoy the various battle and event tracks. The kitschy road trip tracks don't do it for me but they're thematically appropriate. Sort of. The battle system has some obvious issues but I don't think it's as mindless as many have claimed. Either that or perhaps I am more mindless than I realized. Which, currently, as I sip what was poured at Pour, that is very likely true.
FFXIII, by contrast, has way better cutscene direction overall (one of XV's weakest spots; Tabata, why couldn't you have phoned Junpei or whatever that guy's name is, fuck, I can't remember, but he's amazing at cutscene direction. He didn't do XIII but he did XII. XIII was better at this but not as great as XII. It's funny and sad.) It also had more story, I guess...? But not really...? Like... I guess. But I also guess not because let's face it. It's bad.
Oh my god, I wrote like three paragraphs expanding on my rationale for why I feel like Final Fantasy XIII is bad but I like rubbed the side of my right hand over the northeast quadrant of my Chromebook and it's gone. Christ. There's a lot I don't like, OK. Vote.
