People keep saying it's not the full list, but seem to be ignoring that the 340 number given includes the streaming PS3 games on PSNow, which is over 340 at the moment but is getting pared down over the next two months, some PS4 remasters of PS3 games (which is a new revelation), and the PS2 on PS4 games that are already on PSNow. I don't see it getting slashed down to a size where PS1 and PSP games make up more than an insignificant chunk on launch.

For sure, somebody who buys a PlayStation 5 this year and subscribes to the service is going to eat well.
Having said that, even as enthusiast I love game trials. Nobody wants to be stuck with a digital no refund game that they don't like
I'm mainly disappointed with the classic games. It's far below my already lowest of the low expectations, and I don't expect many more to be coming. The rest of the service is fine, but not appealing to me. I don't want to stream PS3 games (it was absolutely terrible when I tried it), I own most of the PS4 games I'm interested in, and the PS5 titles are cool, but Sony's own games are gonna be rotated out like everything over time? Really lame.
Huh... Even with Ubi Classics, this is less whelming than I expected. Still time for it to grow and for more big announcements. I don't mean to suggest that theyr'e going small - this is certainly a huge step up from the status quo. But.. still.. for an opening salvo, when all eyes are gonna be on you, I just expected even more? Especially the back catalog list, of course. Anyway, we'll see. It will, of course, get better. The game library remains the big question mark and this news drop doesn't change that for me. PS Now's offering has always been its Achilles' heel, and PS+ will need to step that up further. (As in, there have always been lots of games on PS Now, but not that many blockbusters - or they get rotated out quickly - and many are quite old.) Well, maybe it doesn't need to lol, but I hope it does. The PS+ free lineup for this month is great though!
You need Tier 2: Extra, for Returnal. And Tier 3: Premium for older games. I believe.
I'm with you. One thing though, it looks like it's just the PS4 version of Spider-Man.
Basically...
If you want old PS+ for online play and *free* monthly games... PS+ essential
If you want download PSNow/GamePass type stuff, excluding day one 1st party games.... PS+ Extra
If you want all that and access to playstation 1,2, psp classics PS3 streaming....and 3hr game trials for future PS4, PS5 games ... then PlayStation Premium.

Now do the list of PS4/PS5 games compared to Switch games on the services.
The real question on my mind is if Sony is going to get Third Party Licensing support for those PS1 and 2 libraries or not? I already accept that the Spyro and Crash games likely aren't going to go up thanks to Microsoft now owning Activision, but stuff like FFVII - IX, the old Tomb Raiders, MGS and Silent Hill, and the various Capcom games would all be nice on the service.

Sony hired a person to "Preserve games" But that person aren't preserving games like nintendo is. All the ps3 games seemed to be streamed I'm not listing streaming games. Preserve your PS1/ps2 and psp lineup those need to be native running on system like nintendo is doing and get all of them on there not 5 from ps1 and zero ps2 and 1 from psp.

How long has the two services been live? What else do they both offer games wise? Don't get the point of comparing two services when there's a lot of variables involved. I don't however expect a lot of classics over time like Nintendo has but the classics will still grow on both sides.

The FF remasters should be since they've been one of the big additions to PS Now over the past year, so I'd guess that those will carry over like a lot of current PS Now games.
You don't get just the classic game in the premium you have to add the ps3 ps4 and ps5 games and it's not the full list
The list they've posted is just a teaser list. I don't know why they wouldn't just post the full list, but what's there now isn't the full list.
You can't see the problem in making it seem like it's $120 for just classic games When in fact your paying $20 more for the classic game library.
You're comparing an incomplete list of launch classics for an upcoming service against a complete list of classics for an existing service. Plus of course both lists will continue to grow over time.
Nate had previously indicated that Sony are aiming for ~100 PS1 titles at launch, we'll know soon enough how close that might be to reality.
Regarding PS3 it will be streaming just like it is with PS Now, but we do have leaks that an emulator is still being worked on at Sony. Once said emulator is made available then local PS3 play should be possible (barring some weird, convoluted set of circumstances)
I enjoy my Expansion Pak sub but let's not pretend that a service where you can't actually buy the games and need to connect to the internet at least once a week to use is preserving anything.

Nintendo isn't preserving shit. Let me know when you can buy these individually rather than locking them into a subscription service.
As someone who switched from PlayStation to Xbox as my main platform this generation, that list of Essential titles is pretty great to just dip into the console in certain months where I'm light and want to play something. I've still not played Miles Morales, for example.
The service is a lot better than I expected, particularly the improvements made to classic games.
One thing needs calling out though:
Why the fuck aren't all classic games available individually? It's some Nintendo level bullshit and I hate when companies openly hold their customers over a barrel. It's exactly why I moved away from the platform as my main, because I felt like Sony just wanted to drain my wallet constantly. I hope they reverse it and give customers options on how they want to engage with the content.

Why are you ignoring PS Now, they're not going to erase its entire library which is already over 700 games lol
Yup. If we can do that I'll be super excited. Just 1-2 hours with newer titles and I'll be happy.
Dumb question incoming but uh, if I have the PlayStation plus that I have now, do I just get the monthly games or is there anything extra I get? Don't really want to upgrade or anything
Considering they state that your purchased classics will transition to PS5, I'd assume you can buy them.

Did you see classic lists its 5 PS1 games and 1 PSP game and zero PS2 games how do you transition PSP/PS1 classics when they only offer 6 of them as of now and no ps2 ones from there list so far.
The wording says "some" will be available to purchase individually. Which is complete bullshit.
