ok, I can believe TK would book Joe over Cole as much as I can believe the opposite, I'm back in, whew.

Joe winning the Owen does nothing for him I imagine.

Cole lost multiple title matches so I imagine he wins the tournament.

The women's match I still think Ruby wins. I just don't know what they do with Britt whether she wins or loses.

Cole is one of their biggest stars, and hasn't won anything meaningful so far in AEW. I think that's going to be the reasoning used to justify him winning the Owen.

Your more or less right. Cole needs to win.

Except.

Except... Joe needs to establish himself as an ass kicker again after all that bad WWE booking.

I think Cole wins after Lethal and Sonjay interfere. Like Joe has Cole dead to rights and then interference that let's Joe lose.

I thought the show was solid enough. It was starting to wind down after a hot start around the FTR/RV match, but the triple threat match was amazing. The only down part was the women's match both because of the winner and the fact that a great wrestler like Toni gets overshadowed by a sloppy wrestler who's good on the mic.

Decent enough go home Dynamite.

I think all of that is largely washed away now. He had one match in two years, and there he won the NXT-title. He'll be fine.
In hindsight being sidelined was probably a good thing for him in that WWE couldn't ruin him and he got the time to rest up (instead of going on the road for 200 days per year)

Last week's show was better (until the atrocious last 30 minutes) than this week's one but tonight it didn't have too many stinkers. Only Britt v Toni was really clunky and slow. Britt is actually a bad wrestler now even after getting slighty better last year.

Great Dynamite tonight. I was in an incredible mood heading into the show and it made me enjoy it even more (Thank you again to this mystery person. You know who you are)

- I think tonight kinda put me off coming in this thread during the show. Lots of negitivity that I just want to ignore
- Also, my tournament guesses were all wrong lol. Guess I suck at predicting these things
- Steel Cage Match: Wardlow vs Shawn Spears - ***1/2 - The match wasn't too special, but the storyline was great. Loved Wardlow ripping off the cuffs.
- All the staff entering the cage just reminded me of an endless spawn point in video games. Wardlow is farming the low level enemies lol
- Jericho just committed a felony. Arrest him!!
- Loved the Hangman & Punk segment. I have no idea who is winning and I love that. Hangman defending AEW from Punk will totally play into the aftermath of the match. Punk is turning at DoN.
- Jon Moxley & Eddie Kingston vs Private Party - **1/2 - Fun average match. Private Party got some good offense in too
- Fun brawl after the match too. That match at DoN will be absolute chaos
- ROH World Tag Team Championship: FTR © vs RPG Vice - ***1/2 - Great match that had a interesting finish...
- Great to see some NJPW stars show up. Jeff Cobb & Great O'Khan are my least known people in NJPW. All I know about Great O'Khan is he stopped a woman from getting assaulted, so he's ok in my book (I remember Cobb from that Dynamite match against Mox in 2020)
- Great Hardy Boys promo. God, it felt like I traveled back in time. Feels good seeing them healthy after all these years
- Ricky Starks vs Swerve Strickland vs Jungle Boy - **** - Loved this match. My MOTN. Lots of fast paced action and everyone looked good in here. Swerve getting that win is only icing on top
- Keith Lee can fly!!!
- Interested in the new title for Scorpio. Laker colors?
- Good promo from Thunder Rosa
- Owen Hart Tournament - Semi Final: Britt Baker vs Toni Storm - **1/2 - Average match with a bad finish. However...
- If this ending gives me another Storm vs Hayter match... Then so be it
- Owen Hart Tournament - Semi Final: Samoa Joe vs Kyle O'Reilly - **** - Great slow paced, brutal match. Loved it and definitely want to see a rematch in the future. Great stuff

Rating - B+
Two great matches along with some fun promos and segments made this Dynamite great. Peace ✌ everyone!!!

had to dip for main event, but finished up watching. bummed KOR ain't going through but fine eatin' match. Cole & Baker potentially winning both owens will ruin me but also if Joe/Soho manage to grab the wins it will be perfect.

it's a go-home show, and it was a good go-home show, so yeah

Punk's promo was so flat for me, it just doesn't feel like he has any motivation past enjoying being there. And Rosa blaming Deebs for what she talked about doing in wwe. I like none of this, might be my least hyped ppv so far from AEW.

he was def out of it. which sucks, because hangman is probably his best opportunity for a genuine 5* match yet. but he said as much on Twitter earlier today.

Enjoyable Dynamite tonight.

-Loved how they handled MJF/Wardlow. Perfect camera shot with Wardlow showing up behind Spears, too. LOL NPCs just bouncing off Wardlow. I love this story.

-Was NOT expecting that fireball from Jericho.

-Captivated by Punk/Hangman. I really hope we get more story after this because it feels like they've left A LOT unsaid. Not sure how they'll do it with Forbidden Door coming up, but this can't be it for these guys. Love Hangman's fire and Punk's righteous sanctimony.

-Felt warm and fuzzy seeing Mox and Eddie entering through the crowd together again. Solid match. Fine post-match.

-Caprice Coleman elevated that FTR/RPG Vice match. It was a great one before it got thrown out, too. First no contest in three years in AEW, and it was for a legit shocking surprise moment, so I'm good with it.

-Hardys promo was good but this feels too thrown-together at the last second. I'm more interested in seeing the match than I was before, though, so mission accomplished.

-Great three-way match. Sw3rve and Ricky are special, and JB can go and get over with fans. Holy hell at Keith Lee just dumping himself over the ropes there.

-We'd better be getting Laker colours on the TNT title this Friday. Just give me something to salvage this awfulness.

-Red Velvet and Ruby are great. 'Nuff said.

-Jade rules.

-Best promo of this women's title program yet, but I didn't like Rosa tearing down Deeb's experience. Wish they'd just let Rosa wrestle on a semi-regular basis! :) Still looking forward to the match.

-Britt and Toni were having a pretty good match that really fell apart once Toni's nose got busted, and that finish was uuuuugly. I'm annoyed we are still getting Britt in this position, but I guess it's a "thank you" PPV appearance for her after holding the title for so long. Where does Toni go from here? I want Ruby to win the tournament.

-Very good main event with an ending that pleasantly surprised me. I'm glad they're booking Joe like a force of nature. He can talk people into an arena. He's probably losing to Cole, but it's cool that he'll be on PPV.

One negative is that I did notice quite a few empty seats. Overall though, this was fun and I loved several things on it. Dynamite provided a needed boost for me tonight.

Joe winning the Owen does nothing for him I imagine.

Cole lost multiple title matches so I imagine he wins the tournament.

The women's match I still think Ruby wins. I just don't know what they do with Britt whether she wins or loses.
Honestly, that moment during her match actually made me think they could be considering turning Britt babyface. Hayter and Rebel turn on her and Britt is booked as the face. I know people are expecting the opposite and that probably is what they'll do but in that moment where Hayter caused Britt to get rolled up it really hit me like "are they gonna turn Britt face?"

All in all, thought it was a great show. You know NJPW and Gedo are in the house when mid match run-ins are happening. Good to see Cobb on Dynamite again.

Honestly, Swerve winning tonight reinforces for me that Starks and Hobbs win the titles Sunday. Starks even kind of had a visual win. I think it's time to take the titles off of Jurassic Express and similar to how the women's Owen Hart tournament is going to Ruby over Toni or the mens Owen is going to Cole over Joe the tag titles are going to Starks and Hobbs because it's too early to belt up Keith Lee and Swerve.

Also, Punk said something like he couldn't promise he'd beat Hangman while Hangman can't shut up about how much he's beating Punk. I think Hangman retains. There's I think a small percentage chance we get a heel turn in this match but I think it's a babyface vs babyface match. Seems more likely Punk decides to pull a Bret and work heel for the match and turn back babyface at the end.

The cage felt unnecessary in the Wardlow match. Beyond a cool visual it added absolutely nothing to that match which was more like a glorified segment. Don't get me wrong, I thought it was great but it felt less like a match and more just like a really good angle with a pin fall at the end. And it would've been identical without the cage. I get they wanted the deck to be so stacked against Wardlow which is why it was a cage match but having MJF as the ref does more than enough to stack the deck against Wardlow that the cage just added nothing. If they do a second Wardlow vs MJF match after DON they should've saved the cage for that.

That's a minor complaint but really was the only issue I had with the show tonight. Great go home dynamite for DON weekend.

Pretty solid show. Loved most of it. Team Taz and Limitless Swerve remain the most entertaining part of every week. And my goodness Jungle Boy just needs to be solo. Did not expect New Japan to start popping up before the PPV. Makes me wonder if we'll get an Okada stare down with Hangman after Hangman beats Punk.

Punk channeling his inner Kevin Nash with that promo didn't work as much as it probably should have. They were both kind of going around in circles, but I thought Hangman's point was better. Him viewing Punk as just some guy who's there worked for me. Punk is there because it's not WWE. Hangman is there because it's his home.

I'm ready for Britt Baker to go on vacation just so Tony Khan doesn't have his newbie killer the next time he signs a woman to the roster.

If you get the chance, go see AEW at Mandalay Bay! So many walking from the arena through the casino to their rooms. Darby, Regal, Hayter, Ruby, Dax, Swerve, Orange Cassidy, Keith Lee, and a bunch more. Saw so many. Ass Boys were in this cocktail lounge I'm currently in a while ago.

So was that chairshot worked? Because it looked pretty real and I don't want aew doing unprotected headshots again.

Overall a pretty good episode. I liked everything before the women's match. Particularly the triple threat. Ricky starks is wrestler of the night for me.

I'm still watching the show but had to pop in and say HOLY SHIT that Hangman Punk segment was everything I needed and more. So hyped for this championship match.

(Also yay, Wardlow broke the cuffs!)

I like Britt more than most on here, but I thought Toni should have went over and they were using the tourney to help give her a big push into the company. Britt doesn't need the accolades, as she's one of the few they have already done a good job establishing.

Swerve/Jungle Boy/Starks was MOTN for me. Wouldn't mind a tag title change at the ppv, with either Starks/Hobbs or Swerve/Lee winning.

Best Thunder Rosa promo tonight, even if she went on too long :skip:. Not sure why she hasn't wrestled more, as that is one of the areas she shines in.

MJF/Wardlow has been the best build program leading into the ppv.

GREATEST TECHNICAL WRESTLER IN JAPAN GREAT O-KHAN!

Big ass grin on my face right now. The best thing about DoN is that when it's over we can start the Forbidden Door build.

Dominion is June 12 so I suspect they set things up even more over there for the big matches.

Cobb and O'Khan are challenging for the IWGP tag titles then too so if they win I wonder if they do a title vs title match with FTR.

Really good go-home Dynamite. They patched most of the feuds that felt a bit light coming into DoN, and the pacing was spot-on for once.

  • Was not a fan of the chair headshot but I hope it was gimmicked. At least it's unlikely to be a thing MJF does on the regular. Aside from that Wardlow's segment was fantastic from start to finish. Wardlow vs Security is my second favourite feud going into the PPV.
  • Hagman's promo was a great refresher on this character and what has made him different from other AEW champions. Sometimes it's the things he doesn't say, you know? He's 100% retaining on Sunday. He might even turn heel.
  • Rosa's promo was needed and really solid, good stuff. I have high hopes for Rosa/Deeb at the PPV, it could really deliver.
  • The BCC-ish show match was excellent as ever. Great seeing Eddie and Mox together again and proves there can be some unity in this group. Very looking forward to Danielson vs Sydal for Rampage.
  • JB/Starks/Swerve was easily my MotN. These guys were fantastic together. Once Team Taz (rightfully) win the belts at DoN I can easily see the feud with Swerveglory continuing and also ruling.
  • Cool to see a little build towards Forbidden Door and loved seeing Cobb again. From all I know about him O'Kharn seems a very nice guy outside the ring, but his gimmick is the goofiest shit in a bad way.
  • Britt should not be in the finals. Sincerely. And also fuck off if we're heading for the Cole/Baker twin champion belts timeline.

The chair was gimmicked. There's no way MJF could literally run out of the cage like he did if Spears smacked him in the head with a real chair.

Starks was telling us that he made the mistake of walking back to his hotel room, still in his gear, while the crowd was leaving the arena lol
