The level of discourse right now is close to Neogaf 2015 wrestling threads when all they did was fighting and being miserable lmao. Also did someone use "triggering" in a serious sentence? Come on.

There's definitely more to Cody-TK-The Elite story but right now I don't care. Seeing the main event of night 2 tells me the philosophy of WWE is still cooked. And there are possibly even MORE people coming to AEW (Claudio, Gargano, whoever WWE cuts next) so people can go back to discussing the "bloated" roster. These are exciting times and Cody leaving made more exciting. The WWE product still is bad, so we just have to wait and see.

I do. I just don't give liking an online post the same weight as someone speaking publicly in an interview setting. I can agree with those saying that no one ends up looking good in this situation, but I do feel there are levels to "looking bad," and that Cody has ended up coming off worst of all up to this point. But it's a silly situation all around to argue about, I suppose. We would probably just end up going around in circles. There are clearly some hurt feelings involved in all of this that we may never truly know about, so there's a lot of conjecture and reacting to what is publicly put out there.

I've defended Cody on here for the past two and a half years or so. Some of his recent comments have just rubbed me the wrong way even if the bulk of what he's been saying has been reasonable and has made total sense.

There's just a lot to this stuff, I guess. For example, in the past in this very community, I've been told not to worry about the financial decisions of other people (good advice in general,) but there is something to be said about the weird narrative that Cody would somehow be poor and unable to provide an optimal life for his family if he didn't take Vince's money bag.

Anyway, this is the last I'll talk about this stuff for this week. LOL. This is also a probably valid (if not "I said it for the pops") perspective.

Said that Triple H is his favourite wrestler this past weekend, but over a year ago:

"It's no secret that Sting was my favorite wrestler. I had Sting in WCW and Shawn [Michaels] in WWF. But really I wasn't supposed to watch WWF. So, Sting was everything. I got to see him live so often and I got to see the connection he had. I honestly am scared to answer that. Obviously, as a wrestler, to stand across the ring from your hero is everyone's dream, to share that field. So, yes, I would love and envision that."

Favourite wrestlers can obviously change from your childhood, and that's quite likely what's going on here, but just another moment to make you say HMM.

In the end, Cody going to WWE feels like the best move for everyone involved.

The tweet is spot on, we literally just had MJF lying his ass off to Helwani about how much he loves WWE and how great NXT 2.0 is. And people loved it because haha great heel work.

Cody is part of the WWE Universe now, he's a babyface and he's working, look at his statements through a WWE fans eyes and they're all designed to either make him more likeable or sympathetic towards WWE fans.

FTR should beat Jungle/Jurassic? Express at DoN. They are the best tag team in the world right now and they deserve a better run than their initial one.

It depends if you want to do FTR as face or heels. Seems like in AEW they'll be going as faces, in that case, it'd make sense to have JE lose to ReDragon then they lose the belts to FTR (But it seems as if AEW doesn't like to do short reigns?).

They can bulid some turnmoil between Jungle Boy and Christian which is the feud everyone knows will happen? And FTR are definitely faces, they worked their match against the Ass Boys as faces.

FTR has had the shortest reign at 2 months, but Cody had 2 one month reigns as TNT Champion.

I'd be fine with FTR as babyfaces holding three championships. It feels like Tony is doing nothing with the current AEW champions.

Honestly, I find talking about Cody's AEW answers to be a lot less bothersome than seeing totally unrelated WWE stuff pop up ITT at any given moment.

Maybe Jurassic Express to ReDRagon at Battle of the Belts? Then ReDRagon/FTR at Double or Nothing?
Depends on where they want to go. The calculation before and after the ROH is a bit different. FTR is hot and one issue I've had with AEW's generally great long term booking approach is it can sometimes prevent them from striking when the iron is at its hottest but with FTR being the both the AAA and ROH tag champs I think an argument could be made for not immediately putting the AEW tag titles on them as they don't necessarily need it. While ROH may be a lesser promotion to AEW, ROH titles are essentially AEW titles in that they can be defended on AEW shows kind of whenever and until Tony lands a TV or streaming deal for ROH I suspect we'll be seeing a lot of ROH title matches on Dynamite and Rampage over the next few weeks and months.

Couple random thoughts I had: Am I alone in thinking AEW's ranking system would be more at home at ROH and ROH's 20 second count outs would be more at home at AEW? Stylistically thinking about the two promotions those were things that just made sense to me.

I love FTR right now. They rule so much. I want to see them get those tag belts, but I'd like to see Santana and Ortiz do the same. Maybe FTR can win them first, then they can re-ignite their feud with Santana and Ortiz later in the year?

Dax is legit one of my top 3 favourite wrestlers in the world right now.

AEW has needed 20s count outs since the beginning. It kills me whenever they brawl into the crowd and the ref has to just quit counting because it takes them half a minute to get back into the ring.

I'm kind of okay with the rankings even though it's totally meaningless.

FTR's match with the Briscoes reminded me of why I was so invested in their battles with American Alpha and DIY in NXT. They truly feel like "tag team specialists" and not just a couple of guys thrown together and acting independently most of the time. I want to see them get the AEW belts this year for sure.

I have no issue with a face v face for the belts. FTR seem to be tweeners right now anyway and not true faces so if they lift the belts now they can continue to drift towards face.

JE has had a bad run with the belts - Id rather JE just break up and JB be off on his own.

I was having the tag team title discussion on the discord yesterday. The tag titles are in an interesting place because the current tag champs are super babyfaces, and realistically all the hot tag teams that would be contending for it are some degree of faces- namely that would be FTR, Blackpool Combat Club and Santana & Ortiz. They also have a weird situation where with FTR going face they really only have two main event level heel tag teams- and in my opinion it's really only one: The Young Bucks. I feel like they are presenting ReDragon as a main event level heel team but honestly I don't think they are there yet in AEW.

The other heel tag teams are upper mid card or lower. There is the Kings of the Black Throne that could easily be heated up and put into the main event tag scene, but they seem pretty pre-occupied in trios right now. I wonder if they'll start to really heat up and elevate some of the "lesser" heel teams right now, bring in someone else, or turn one of the main event level face teams.

But anyhow, since all the hottest tag teams right now are some degree of face it puts the title in a weird place. I think the closest to "heels" would be BCC- I think they could work as heels against Jurassic Express just through the brutality of their moves and work more as tweeners with the titles. But man, FTR are on a RUN right now and it feels like it's really starting to heat up...and Santana and Ortiz felt like they were being built up for a run for possibly later this year. Tough to see where the tag scene is going, but it's exciting and there is a LOT of talent.

Remembering this thread back when FTR first signed with AEW.

There were definitely some people who were like "they're not that good and yeah that includes their NXT stuff".

I don't know if those people are still around now but doesn't really matter, it's just nice to finally see FTR getting their flowers, as Punk would put it.

The disrespect for JE's tag title run. :( Banger title defenses against Reynolds and Silver, Private Party, Gunn Club, Fish/O'Reilly and Young Bucks, and The Acclaimed.

I don't know why that happens so often. They were my dream signing. FTR vs Bucks is a dream match. Their NXT work really showed how fundamentally they understood tag team wrestling.

But then what do I know?

No, I'll never stop bring it up :P

So... it sounds like before Tony Khan can formally make a new broadcast deal for ROH, that those belts will be defended on AEW programming. I expect Gresham to defend the ROH Championship at Battle for the Belts II. But against who?

I hope not but I guess it would have to be Lethal given the ending of that show

Where do you put Bucks vs. FTR on Wednesday?

Start the show with it?
Main event slot?

I'd like Tony to give them the Punk/MJF treatment and to start ring entrances at around 9:20pm.

I want them to give us a meaty tag match and not just a 12-minute sprint. I mean, both can work, but I feel putting on a legendary tag on TV is better for word of mouth buzz.

Wonder what we'll see announced the day of the show.

So, do we get Blood and Guts between JAS and Eddie's crew before or after Double or Nothing?
WHAT? Riven plsss. Blood and Guts: JAS vs Blackpool Combat Club edition. Sports Entertainment against Professional Wrestling

THAT'S when you make Daddy Magic and Danny Garcia huge stars. This thing writes itself and I can't wait!

Yeah, I suspect we will get that match sooner rather than later. Would be nice to have another title defense against a different AEW wrestler first though.

Gresham REALLY wants to have matches against CM Punk and Bryan Danielson to cement his run. But those are likely to happen on PPVs. (Hopefully ROH is able to get on its feet enough to have their own PPVs post Supercard of Honor.)

This would be great, too. Mox would thrive in that environment.

Main event.

Have the Hardys table's match be the opener so we have a lot of space between both tag matches

If they're going to have FTR go over JE for the titles, paying off the Christian heel turn is the way.

FTR are too hot, too good. JE have had bangers but I think it's time. Run the FTR reign for awhile to build up Santana and Ortiz

I feel like AEW has been doing fewer BIG main event matches as openers on TV. They'll open with big matches but not necessarily PPV caliber matches anymore. That said, I hope they get the time to tell a PPV caliber story.

Also, I think Bret Hart coming in to manage FTR may be a little further off. For one, the Owen Hart Cups end at Double or Nothing, so I'd imagine he'll be there but I could see them wanting that to be Bret's first AEW appearance since unveiling the world title at the first DON. They also may not want anything to distract from that. On top of that, tag teams don't bring on managers when they're on a upswing, they do it on the downswing because why do you need a manager when you're doing well?

FTR may not be the AEW tag champs but they are the AAA and ROH champs who are coming off of a big win (and they're probably getting another big win Wednesday) so they're doing well. I believe FTR are defending the AAA belts at a AAA show soon so they should drop the belts there and that can be the start of a downswing. Then at DON they drop the ROH titles to someone (Santana & Ortiz maybe?). Then at the DON fallout Dynamite, that's when Bret becomes there manager with the goal of becoming AEW tag champs. At least, that's my rough idea of what they should do. TK would do it better but all that is to say I don't think in makes sense to bring Hart in until FTR needs help.

Some booking options for Samoa Joe:
  • BCC tries to recruit him but he declines.
  • He helps PnP & Eddie. Joe vs Garcia at DoN.
  • He feuds with Andrade.
  • He feuds with Punk (after DoN).
  • He hands Hook his first loss, but then gets him to leave Team Taz.

It's more likely that we get a "Samoa Joe speaks!" segment announced, and then I dunno, Lance Archer shows up to challenge him. With yet another new manager.

Here me out. Samoa Joe's first feud is Keith Lee. I was originally thinking Team Taz but it feels too obvious and I feel like Joe is going to turn heel real quick
