Edit: Also wanted to include other IP like starwars, Marvel, DC, and Aliens vs predators.

I know we got the Devil Survivor games, which are great, but I wouldn't mind one based on mainline SMT (Preferably SMTIV) with that darker tone, writing and characters.

And yeah, more Tactics Ogre.

I thought Gear Tactics was kinda of a "my brain explodes in potential" for other games in the same format. Since XCOM has so many mods that let you add equipment from all kinds of games, it's easy to imagine

Like a Metal Gear spin-off where you run and manage a PMC company and do stealth turned based tactical operations. Peace Walker and V had a REALLLY addicting mini-game centered around this. Just expand it, and put in a full rendered 3D battlefield.

Or a HALO ODST focused spin off, whereas you control a group of Helljumpers against the alien threat.

Or a Resident Evil one; could be controlling Blue Umbrella and managing it's day to day operations against bioterroism. Put a heavy emphasis on Survival Horror aspects to add to the tactics formula.

It could be applied to any military-focused video game, and I think it'd fit for most of them.

You asked for a different thing but I would pay serious money (aka more months on game pass) for a Gears of War : Carmine which would be a roguelike of the Carmine family

Every time I play XCOM 2, I always think about how perfect Mass Effect would work in this format.

Gears is already covered, but I would like to see a Halo game like this too. Star Wars as well.

Final Fantasy Tactics would be cool... Also a Yakuza tactics game could be cool, set it post war, have clans vying for control of a city and you play full on turf battles and raids and stuff, as long as it maintains the over the top combat animations and smashy bits.

Wasn't there a Fire Emblem crossover?

Pokémon Conquest was actually a Nobunagas Ambition cross over, but yeah, pretty much.

I want a Last of Us tactics so bad. Maybe centered around Isaac and the WLF fighting off FEDRA in the early days

Or Mass Effect could be cool too

Has anyone played a game called Left Alive or an older mech game in the same franchise called Front Mission Evolved? Bad games but I can see lots of potential if they went turn-based.

Both are spinoff to mainline Front Mission, which is Turn Based Tactics series. Unless you already knew this and actually joking, then I'm sorry lol.

The fifth game didn't even get localized for the west. And Left Alive being commercial/critical flop probably kills any chance for series resurrection.

Since Halo and Mass effect have already been mentioned, I'll go a bit left field and suggest Bionicle (Bonkle Tactics). Depending on setting could have a bunch of options for character and customisation. Could have your own team of Toa, Matoran or even other races from the Matoran Universe/Spherus Magna if we wanna go post-G1's end. lots of options and opportunities to get creative with enemy types, and strategies that mix n match weapons with Mask powers and elemental abilities (with the elemental make up of the team offering oppornities to combine elemental powers in interesting ways), could also go a bit Steven Universe/Fire Emblem and have units that have been on multiple missions together gain bonuses or combine into temporary more powerful units.

A Mass Effect Tactics game is a thing I've wanted for years. XCOM Chimera Squad (That came out this year!?) almost scratched that itch, but not enough that I no longer want an actual Mass Effect Tactics. The main thing is that I'd want it to take the Gears Tactics approach of set story characters mixed in amongst generated characters, that way you can throw in the sort of characters interactions you get in Bioware games for the downtime between missions.

I would hardly associate success with gears tactics, but I think it's a pretty interesting choice to expand the lore. Mass effect seems a obvious choice, but the series I would like to see an adventure in this genre is Dragon Quest

Mass Effect for me.

You could set it during the Reaper invasion of ME3 and have you managing battles on multiple planets, juggling resources, etc.

Could be an alternate take on the ME3 story where instead of The Crucible being the magic "Win Button", you actually have to use your alliances and resources to win the war.

Like a tactical mission's success could earn you the Geth's loyalty, or weaken the loyalty of the Quarians, and stuff like that.
DOOM (or maybe not).
It worked as an RPG, so I'm sure a tactics game could work.

Take a page from that Mario Tactics game. A lot of traversal abilities/skills

Yeah, and you'd have to have a lot of refresh on kill abilities and melee stuff propogating the action economy, you could definitely do it and do it well, I just think it's going to be a lot harder than something like Gears, which translates over pretty easily.

Ibis Island
Resident Evil and the whole BSAA angle would fit the genre to a T. Then you can have RE mainstays as "hero" units. While regular soldiers and the like are user created or randomly generated.

Armored Core

As others have already said, Mass Effect would also be a perfect fit.

Like people said: Mass Effect, Halo would be cool.
Also Starcraft.

EDIT: a Star Wars game would be cool too.

Crysis Tactics.
Each Nanosuit unit has their Nanoenergy tuned for whatever task they specialise in wich opens upgrade paths based on it.

Yakuza Tactics.

Omi Vs Tojo wars in an alternate timeline. Move returning characters and family captains on a grid-based Kamurocho+Sotenbori.
Yes, Yakuza Tactics would be my number one choice. While we are talking about Nagoshi games; Super Monkey Ball Tactics would be cool with a lot of monkeys in balls and crazy levels with slopes, holes, ect
