It's a parody of a BTE segment. The Bucks realized AEW wasn't winning the 50+ demo so they came up with a segment "50+ Seconds for 50+" where they did things they thought older viewers would like (such as gardening, painting, etc.) to attract more of the demo.
Funny, in the Lee Johnson/Ben Carter match I was assuming they were putting Lee over for an eventual signing...
Have we seen Ben Carter on AEW before? I honestly don't recall (but haven't been keeping up as much as of late)

Carter had a match against Starks on one of the recent Darks. He is going against Scorpio sky on the mini-Dynamite later tomorrow night, so I assume he's winning over Johnson to prep him for that.

Interesting - didn't realize that. Do you (anyone) know Ben Carter's history? I admittedly have been in an AEW bubble (really the only thing I watch actively), so I don't know where some of the talent is coming up from. My optics are just that Lee Johnson has been around all summer and involved in MJF's campaign thing, so I thought it a natural elevation for him.
He's been doing stuff in GCW recently, Janela's old stomping ground. (That he still goes to stomp around in.)

I could see Carter reaching Ospreay's level in 3-4 years time, I'd be signing him as a long term project.

Usually their booking pattern in situations like this is they have someone win on Dark when they have a match coming up on the following Dynamite. The fact that they are having Carter in a marquee match on Dynamite, and presumably winning a match on Dark, seems to suggest they're pretty high on this kid and he could be on the path to being signed.
Lee J seems like he's still in complete jobber territory, but they seem to like him too. There haven't been many others who have been used consistently from the start of the pandemic, but Lee has been one of them, and involving him in a TV angle even in a bit role seems to be a good sign for him. Hobbs, for instance, was being used as Britt Baker's bodyguard for a while before they went all in with him and signed him. I think they've kept Lee and also Shawn Dean around so much for a reason.

This weeks BTE was pretty much BTDO, they got so many segments and all were so good.
Half the fun of watching Dark Order is seeing how much they corpse, and we got a Brodie Lee corpse for the first time which was hilarious.

Same here. Rosa is the only one on the same level as Shida and Riho they've brought in so far imo. Deeb is probably close too.
Technically not AEW, but Joey Janela's Spring Break is in a couple of weeks, his match looks fun. Great promo video as always too
