Fantastic PPV. Very, very excited for this Jungle Boy/Kenny match.

Also Britt's reign is going to be glorious.

AEW proving that booking being predictable doesn't matter if it's the right story and you trust your performers to get matches over. If the performers can convince the audience of an upset for even a moment it's a success.

I enjoyed a lot the PPV. Feels good to finally dig AEW. Though there are still things that I can't get over, like the pointless bleeding in some matches. What was the point of Moxley bleeding for example? Having people bleeding for nothing only depreciates it for when it's actually earned. Anyway, that rant aside, the PPV was really good for the most part. The triple threat was MOTN
I agree, but on the other hand, I don't think anyone was actually blading or anything. People just get busted open during matches.

A truly spectacular finish. Tonight's winners:

Serena Deeb
Hangman Page
The Young Bucks
Jungle Boy
Cody
Miro
Britt Baker
Sting and Darby
Kenny Omega
Inner Circle

Some great stories in this list. All in all, a good PPV.

Quick match breakdown:

Deeb vs. Riho 4/5
-----
Hangman vs. Cage 4.25/5
Bucks vs. Mox and Eddie 4.25
Casino BR 2.25/5
Cody vs. Ogogo 2.5/5
Miro vs. Lance 3/5
Britt vs. Shida 2.5/5
Sting and Darby vs. Page and Sky 3.75/5
Kenny vs. PAC vs. OC 4.5/5
Stadium Stampede 4.25/5

Strong beginning and end, and a weak middle with the most notable disappointment unfortunately being Shida vs. Britt.

Lio Rush was a nice surprise, but his booking was really weird given how quickly he was eliminated. Cool to see Mark Henry, but I'm not -that- psyched to hear him on commentary, tbh. We'll see how it goes.

Overall, there were like 6 good to great matches on this show for me, and I've got plenty I want to go back to and watch again.

hey RBH, could you add a poll to the thread asking for folks' match of the night? I'm really interested.

Definitely preferred last year's stadium stampede, but it's a good decision to end the show singing Jericho's stupid song and cheering Sammy rather than being pissed at Don and Kenny's antics even if the triple threat was a far better match.

I think this was the best PPV they've done by far, especially the last few matches which were amazing. Only meh part was the Cody match, honestly can't believe he's still being presented as a face when everything he does screams heel

You know what the best part of tonight is? I missed the Deeb/Riho match so now I get to end the night on that!

The logic of taking QT Marshall and giving him a heel push seemingly on the strength of being Cody's friend and very little else, and giving him an angle where he gets his own stable full of guys whose entire premise seems to be they feel overlooked and are being overshadowed by Cody, only to have QT and friends proceed to get their asses kicked by Cody at every opportunity, does this make sense to anyone? Everything Cody does seems so detached from the rest of AEW.

Nah, I don't think any bleeding during this PPV wasn't blading. It doesn't matter to me though, it's part of wrestling. It's just that a lot of times its pointless

Sting popping up and diving off the stage literally had me jumping. And the triple threat had me marking too. I feel so happy right now. Like a kid getting ice cream from his parents. lol

I feel so happy for Sting, man. After his last live match being what it was it must have felt so good to go out there and perform at that high of a level tonight. Knocked it out of the park.

Pretty great show, only real disappointment was Britt vs Shida. Cody vs Ogogo was the piss break I expected it to be.

It's great to have a live crowd back

I guess Santana and Ortiz will continue to get buried.

Me waiting for Santana and Ortiz to get pushed along with Fenix's main event run

Thinking back, Deeb vs Riho is easily in my top 3 matches of the night.
I hope they start booking more than one women's match on ppvs going forward.

Cody beating a guy who is 2-0 who has only been a wrestler for 18 months, while still making that guy look like a legitimate threat makes sense to me.

QT is a talented guy who I enjoy watching work, but there is no value in having him go over a talent who draws like Cody.

I know some people hate Cody, but if they can't deal with him going over QT and a few rookies then it just looks to me like they can't deal with him going over *anyone*.

Really feeling this. Even going back to All In, it felt like Cody's NWA title match could have been from an entirely different show in the way it was presented. It feels like his segments and matches exist in their own Codyverse right down to the 80's style tone deaf patriotism.

I don't necessarily disagree with these points in a vacuum, but then why have the angle? Why even have QT's Family? They were losers who still look like losers.

It warms my heart seeing Eddie Kingston so over in front of so many fans. Screw you impact for having Konnan bury him.

I'm really liking heel Deeb (not officially heel yet?). That sprinkle of brutality just adds so much to her in ring character.

That show was a great time. I think all of their PPVs have been good so far, but the Double or Nothing shows have been on another level. Just so satisfying across the board. So many great moments tonight, particularly because of the crowd.

I enjoyed this ppv a lot, but it was dragged down with Cody's patriotism and Baker/Shida not having the greatest chemistry. Still not over Shida loosing via submission. I hate this.

My favourite matches were Page/Cage, Kingston-Mox/YB and the world championship match.

Best part of the show was the pop for Hangman (and Eddie/Mox).

This will be put to the test for the Page/Kenny title match

Wait, the crowd was actually leaving at the end?

No someone in this thread mentioned that having a taped match as the Main Event sucked for the live crowd and that they would just leave to beat traffic, ignoring the fact that the kind of people that went out of their way to attend the first live crowd AEW show in over a year are probably fucking die hard and aren't going to miss the main event, even if they had to watch most of it on a jumbo tron, just to beat some traffic.

Also.

Personally shout outs to Spears.

I really like "Unhinged sociopath chair man who really shouldn't be allowed outside" as a character trait.
