I'm still buzzing. Last night feels like a fever dream. I think this was the best all-around PPV I've ever seen from any promotion. Front-to-back, all bangers. I still cannot believe they pulled the trigger on both Adam Cole and Bryan Danielson in a 10 minute time span lmao. Tony Khan is an absolute madman.

Your call and all that, but you really don't have to watch it if it makes you depressed. :)
Yep.

The best thing that could happen for this industry is if the tonnes of people who watch WWE out of habit or morbid curiosity just simply stopped watching and supported other companies. The sooner AEW become a legit ratings competitor to WWE the better.

Also I feel sorry for whoever is making the AEW game. "We have to add WHO???". They ironically have the opposite problem of whoever makes the WWE games.
I think they'll be fine. I'd like to think Tony understands the game dev grind especially with Kenny and Cody around, and he's already allegedly pumping millions into the games anyway and will probably continue to do so.

Pretty much the other's day Punk promo, that if you are going to hate watch just don't watch then and let the people that enjoy it watch it. Well he said it about AEW but it applies better to WWE.

Just waking up after a night full of dreams having to do with that PPV.

And while I know that everyone is excited over the reveals (and should be), I'd still like AEW to get more black talent in the main event scene. My hope is that starts with Keith Lee or maybe one of the New Day members if/when Vince inevitably lets them go.

Gonna be real interesting to see those who still bother to watch AEW and WWE react to going from one of the best PPVs ever to watching garbage.

I just have an image of Vince sitting in his office, losing his mind at how all of this praise is being heaped on AEW, and not understanding that this is basically all his own doing.

"Whaddaya MEAN they all want to leave? We gave them EVERYTHING! And, y'know, told them they couldn't make money elsewhere without giving it to us, ran a gruelling schedule with zero time off, rushed them back from injury and killed their characters as soon as they left NXT... But what did we do WRONG!?!"

That was, frankly, the most ridiculous PPV I've ever seen. WM17 has without doubt been my favourite for years, but shit the bed, AEW nailed it. Everything was just... Pretty much perfect

I got home from being at All Out to a broken pipe gasket to my toilet. It had been been spraying water into my house for 9 hours, the entire time I was gone; half of my ground floor was full of water, my basement had 4 inches of water in most of it, the water raining through my floor boards, it ruined all of the stuff in my basement, including my entire Sega Genesis, Sega CD, and Sega Saturn collection (including Panzer Dragoon Saga). I don't know how much of my house structurally is ruined, but I fear too much.

Of course, my homeowner's insurance company is closed until Tueaday

My best best friend came over in the middle of the night (who was also with me at All Out) with a dry vac and a submersible pump and said to me, "you just had the highest of lows and the lowest of lows all in on day."

My response to him was "not even this has put a dent in what has been the greatest 17 days of my life (I've been to every AEW show since CM Punk's return), ending with an exclamation point for one of the greatest nights I've ever seen."

And I mean it, too!
Oh my god! I'm really glad you're in high spirits still despite that nightmare

Right there with you. Hobbs and Sky are right there, too. Lee Johnson's got a ways to go, and whenever Darius Martin is good to go, him and Dante should eventually win the tag belts. Nevermind Dante getting a singles run.

Cody has been stuck in a filler episode for this entire year but I really want him involved in this Elite storyline too eventually, his complete departure from everything to do with the Elite has been weird, also him and Cole have great chemistry in the ring together so I'd love to see them wrestle again

Other than a 3 month WWE Network subscription to watch a lackluster Wrestlemania a couple years ago, I've never personally ordered a Pay-Per-View, but I felt like I needed to watch last night's show so I spent the 50 bucks and don't regret it at all. Great show. Absolutely delivered.

My only complaint is that my stream through Fite kept jumping backwards a couple seconds so that I was a few minutes behind the live show.. It seemed to sort itself out halfway through the battle royale.

Hardly.

Vince could care less about praise - he cares about money, and WWE continues to have record profits. Until AEW starts threatening general audience (read: non-wrestling fan) appeal, which they will never do with their current product, I imagine Vince is happy to see workers he didn't want anymore land on their feet somewhere else.

Waking up feeling liberated. Like there's no use complaining about the wwe anymore. They'll do what they do over there. But I think after last night it's safe to just ignore it now. They exist in their own pocket dimension. There are guys/gals who I do like a lot over there but not enough to give any more of my time or attention.

Actually pretty insane that they also own the entire week except Thursdays. Don't have to wait too long to get a next fix. I hope Tony can get a break sometime soon so he doesn't burn out.

That's amazing. They basically recreated that match.

I stayed up until 5am for this one and I think that I thought to myself at around 1:40am "yeah this has already been worth it". I honestly don't have the energy to do one of my usual long ass show reviews, so I'm just gonna recap the bits and pieces that stood out.

Every single match delivered, from the pre-show to the main event and yeah I'm including Wight-QT in that. But man just putting aside the match quality, it felt every single match had a moment before, during or after it that felt like a 'Moment'.

Jungle Boy and Jack Evans battling on their teammates shoulders was such a cool visual and that was a great opener to get the crowd going.

Eddie giving Miro his toughest challenge yet, he destroyed Miro's chest and when the neck finally came into play I thought Eddie may have a chance. Miro is definitely winning more people over nowadays with his Redeemer character and promos. I'm just happy for the guy.

I knew Kojima could still go and him and Mox had a fun one but obviously what came afterwards is the big thing, NJPW finally let AEW use of their big stars that AEW fans have been asking to see. And Suzuki was treated like the king he is, crowd goes nuts, Mox shit himself and the mad bastard took the other mad bastard out. This is exactly how you want this to go down.

Britt and Statlander had possibly my fave AEW women's match. While Serena-Riho was fantastic, this had Britt in it and Britt's strong suit is her character and promo work but she really stepped up here, this went way smoother than I expected it to. Both women's best efforts in AEW at the least.

It took almost 2 years longer than it should have but AEW finally belted up the Lucha Bros. That entrance for starters was just HYPE. Penta's gear. And then the match itself. I'm really glad they didn't go too crazy with the cage, you got the big moment at the end but man I just loved that they had a brutal bloody match where the LB had to overcome real adversity, it's not something I've seen them had to do before, so it was really cool to see a more nasty side of the Bucks matched up against a more grounded LB.

The Casino Battle Royale went pretty well, I thought there were a few women that stood out, Jade, Nyla and Rosa. I wanted a bit more from Hayter. I figured they'd go with Tay given her reappearance on TV lately and a typical aversion to have the surprise debut get an immediate title shot but hey I suppose the joker has to win one of these some day too.

MJF-Jericho was just more fun than I expected, from the fake entrance to MJF doing flippy shit then immediately paying for it with that nasty powerbomb, MJF constantly screaming in pain. I guess what I'm trying to say is MJF is alright. I'm glad Jericho isn't done, there's still plenty of young guys that could benefit from working with him, Top Flight, Shotty, Starks and so on.

And then there's a fantastic Malakai promo just thrown in to the middle of the show to hype up his match on Wednesday. JFC I was popping for basically adverts!

Punk-Darby…..two guys just sat down in the ring and the crowd lost their shit. Semi main eventing an AEW show after 7 years away against someone like Darby, I think it was harder on Punk than he thought it was gonna be, at least in the early going, but hey now he knows and he'll be more prepared next time, just like Christian has been since his debut. Definitely a match that got better as Punk got his sea legs back. Darby looked fantastic here and for me continues to be a front runner for WOTY.

QT-Wight was over before it had a chance to sour the show, I gues it went 3 minutes? Everyone bumped for Wight and JR for nostalgia sake called him Big Show. This was the ideal outcome.

Finally the main event of Kenny-Christian, it was great but obviously felt like a formality, we knew it was gonna be so all they had to do was have a banger match, and they did, lot of big spots in this one, Kenny was more vicious, as he should have been. Looking forward to Christian giving shine to others now that this feud seems over.

Post match Kenny says he has no equal, no one alive or dead as good as him, which brings out Adam Cole, super reaction for him, his new music is fantastic and Cole threatens to fight the Elite before quickly joining them. Cool. This brings out Bryan Danielson to a remix of Ride of the Valkyries (people popped immediately so good job TK), Danielson comes down to help out the faces, kick the shit out of Nick Jackson and sent the Elite running. Fantastic ending to the show.

Was steering clear of spoilers so haven't gone through the lengthy thread to see if it was discussed, but Riho was done dirty right?

There seemed to be a miscommunication and it looked like Hayter was expressing 'no' to the ref who was eliminating Riho after she hit the floor ringside. So I skipped back and rewatched it and it looked like Riho had rolled to the ring apron under the bottom rope before Hayter then kicked her out, so she was still in the rumble. I was surprised that Riho never came back therefore suggesting it wasn't overturned?

Anyone else spot that?

It's simple. This will be the catalyst for DARK RIHO.

One of the very few aspects that must be improved upon is how they film these Casino Battle Royale's if they stick that format. Picture in Picture is a MUST for future matches of this kind because you miss most of the entrances that happen while a person that enters the ring starts fighting.
Or you can just jump to the regular Rumble format and take the heat for copying it for a hot second but have better match stories and quality in the future.

I did and was surprised they rolled with it instead of reversing it, but maybe they didn't want any reversals before the MJF match.

I would argue that every single woman except Ruby and Nyla were done dirty just because of the format of that match. Starting off with 5 wrestlers in the ring was a bad idea because it's an immediate cluster fuck.

Sending them in 5 at a time even if they all get separate entrances doesn't let anyone get that cool little highlight moment you'd usually get in other rumble style matches where all the attention is on whoever is coming out and they get to do all their shit. The way it was done here before some of them even got to the ring someone else's music played and the camera didn't know who to stay on.

Then of course I think Riho's elimination was either missed or fucked up because of the above problem. I definitely hope they stop this casino battle royal and just steal the NWA's version of this match because that shit was fire on EmpoweRRR. Every single entrant was treated like they were special and got to do cool shit. Plus some of the eliminations were unique. I'd never seen a pinfall/submission style rumble but that kind of match was awesome and didn't seem to take any longer.

That's really my only complaint with the show because everything else was so good.

So I'm watching the post media scrum and CM Punk and Tony Khan are being interviewed and a dude asks Tony how he feels about the fact that he's just changed the industry. And Tony in his humble self is like "no no, it was everyone who works at AEW and most importantly the fans and all of you guys" and he's denying it until the guy says that you're the one who signed CM Punk!

At which point Punk interjects with "Actually he's right, I don't think I would've come back if anyone else had asked me to"

and Tony. Like he kept it together but you could TELL that those words hit his very soul and he is on Cloud 9 right now
