Time for another AEW PPV and it being September we are brought to All Out. Still marooned in Daily's Place but now with a small smattering of fans, AEW is attempting to try and get things partially back to normal. This card has a little something for everyone. The wacky gimmick match with Jericho and Orange Cassidy, the (probable) banger tag title match, and the story-driven main event for the AEW World Title. Let's get right to it and run down the card.
AEW World Heavyweight Championship - Jon Moxley (c) vs. MJF
In all of MJF's time in AEW, he has never once been pinned or submitted. He has never lost a one-on-one match. And now after many months unbeaten, MJF finds himself in the biggest match of his life as he challenges Jon Moxley for the AEW World Championship. After many a wacky promo and a "campaign" to tell us why Moxley is a bad leader for the brand, MJF has to put his money where his big mouth is and get in the ring with one of the most dangerous men in AEW. Moxley enters this match a little less dangerous however, as MJF convinced Moxley to allow the Paradigm Shift DDT to be banned. Mox himself has also never been pinned or submitted in AEW, so this main event represents the end of the line for one man's streak. Only one can walk out AEW Champion, and if MJF isn't stopped here he may never let us forget it.
Mimosa Mayhem Match - Chris Jericho vs. Orange Cassidy
Orange Cassidy and Chris Jericho have been at each other's throats for months, between attacks on one another, promos back and forth, and many baths of champagne and orange juice. The two men tied at one win a piece against the other, this unique match represents the deciding contest. The match itself will combine many gallons of orange juice with many cases of champagne to create the world's largest (and most alcoholic) mimosa. The only ways to win are pinfall, submission, or being thrown into the mimosa bath. This match will in all likelihood end in embarrassment for one of these men. With Jericho's Inner Circle always lurking, Cassidy faces an uphill climb. But hey, he's already done it once. What's one more win in the biggest match of his life?
AEW Women's World Championship - Hikaru Shida (c) vs. Thunder Rosa
For the past few months, Hikaru Shida has been searching for challengers. After defeating Penelope Ford at Fyter Fest, Shida sent out a call to any women outside AEW who wanted to take their shot at her. Attempts were made, but none could topple the champion. Finally, the call was answered by someone with real credentials. NWA Women's World Champion Thunder Rosa announced two weeks ago that she would be at All Out to challenge for Shida's AEW Women's Championship and attempt to become the first woman to hold both titles. Rosa is world-traveled and a skilled martial artist, and as such she represents the biggest challenge Shida has faced yet as AEW Women's Champion. Can Shida turn back the challenge of the outsider, or will Thunder Rosa enter AEW with style as its first double champion?
AEW World Tag Team Championship - Kenny Omega and Hangman Adam Page vs. FTR (Dax Harwood and Cash Wheeler) w/Tully Blanchard
Three months ago, FTR arrived in AEW and surprisingly aligned themselves with The Elite. They assisted the team in many tag matches and saved them from outside attacks, appearing to be friends to AEW's top stable. However, at the same time, they began to try to sway Hangman further away from The Elite and prey on his doubts about his friends. Then, last month, FTR finally showed their true colors as they attacked the Rock N Roll Express on their own Tag Team Appreciation Night and aligned themselves firmly with Tully Blanchard. Since then, they have made it clear they care about only one thing: becoming AEW Tag Team Champions. Hangman has continued to struggle with his loyalties, and Omega has continued to struggle with his temper. The two clearly are not on the same page at all, and Page finds himself completely on the outs with The Elite after he prevented the Young Bucks from winning the match that made FTR the top contenders. FTR have succeeded at disrupting The Elite and fracturing their trust, now can they capitalize on that dissension and capture the AEW Tag Titles?
Dark Order (Brodie Lee, Colt Cabana, Stu Grayson, and Evil Uno) vs. Dustin Rhodes, QT Marshall, Matt Cardona, and Scorpio Sky
The story of this one is simple. Two weeks ago, Brodie Lee did exactly what he said he would do. He ran right through Cody and destroyed him to capture the TNT Championship. And after he won, he made an example out of Cody and Arn Anderson by laying them to waste and having the Dark Order beat down the entirety of the Nightmare Family. Now, with Cody on the sidelines for the foreseeable future, his friends are left to stand up to the Dark Order and attempt to stop them at All Out. A mish-mash of family, friends, and former challengers, the team of Rhodes, Marshall, Cardona, and Sky lack the experience together that the Dark Order have and will need to overcome that if they have any chance of walking away with a win, or even walking away at all.
Broken Rules Match - Matt Hardy vs. Sammy Guevara
Ever since he entered AEW, Matt Hardy has had a keen eye for torturing young Sammy Guevara. The two have had many encounters, the latest of which being a tables match last week on Dynamite won by Guevara. Both have the scars to show from the war they've had these past months, and now it has all led to this match. Once and for all, these two will battle to the end. Matt Hardy came up with this match, the Broken Rules match, as a way to definitively end the conflict. The rules are as follows:
-The winner will be the Last Man Standing, determined when one man can't answer the referee's 10 count.
-The finish can take place anywhere.
-There must be a winner.
In addition, Matt Hardy has promised that if he cannot defeat Sammy Guevara here at All Out, he will leave AEW for good. Can Sammy finally vanquish this demon, or will Matt Hardy get the last laugh?
Casino Battle Royale - Winner Receives an AEW World Championship Match
You all know the drill with this one, as it is a returning match from last year at Double or Nothing and All Out. 20 men enter in groups of five, with 1 left at the end as the joker. These 21 men battle it out in an over the top rope battle royale, with the last man standing receiving a shot at the AEW World Title. This match is filled with stories. Ricky Starks vs. Darby Allin, Brian Cage vs. Darby Allin, Brian Cage vs. Lance Archer, Taz vs. Jake Roberts, Darby Allin vs. His Will To Live, this one has something for everyone! We do not have a full list of entrants and it's very safe to assume there will be surprises throughout the match.
Young Bucks vs. Jurassic Express
There's really not much to be said about this one. Setup by a victory by the four on Dynamite, these two teams battle it out here to be the first in line to face the winners of the Tag Title match later in the show. The Young Bucks felt cheated out of the previous #1 Contender's Gauntlet, and this is their chance to get back on track. Jurassic Express look to get a shot at the champions and take advantage of the Bucks as they are distracted by the crumbling state of The Elite.
The Buy-In Pre-show: Tooth and Nail Match - Britt Baker vs. Big Swole
Immediately after injuring her knee four months ago, Britt Baker let it be known that she would be returning at All Out. What she actually meant was that she would spend months in a wheelchair on TV being insufferable and ornery. One of the most common targets of Baker's insults has been Big Swole, who has jumped through many hoops to finally find herself in a match with Baker on the Buy In Pre-Show here at All Out. This will not be a regular match however, as it will be a "Tooth and Nail Match" fought in the dentist office of one Britt Baker and will be contested as a Falls Count Anywhere match. Expect many shenanigans and Baker doing anything and everything she can to escape from Swole's wrath, but Swole is already very aware of Baker's tricks.
That is the whole card! Let me know what you are looking forward to most, and what your predictions are!
