Adult Clive's design is really freaking cool (FF16)

Side note after trying Dragon's Dogma for a couple of hours and disliking it this game better have a lock-on
and I didn't like the feel of the combat so now I'm worried

Vaan is simply the best simply because people got so mad at that time and called him homophobic slurs just because he might be appealing to women in ways that male MCs usually aren't.
It's a high fantasy Medieval version of Dante. 😏It's gonna feel really different to have a protagonist with such a different kind of design. Just look at his armor!

I love the design personally. It's edgy, but I can get with that. I tend to be a pretty big fan of square's older character designs in general. Older noctis is also awesome.
Comparisons to velvet are wild to me though. Feel like I'm missing something. They both have red and black?

Let me put it this way: I've had the words "come follow me" from the trailer song stuck in my head ever since the reveal and I would have zero qualms following this Clive anywhere he wants to go.
I love it.
He looks somewhat "grounded" compared to most FF leads who look overly anime. I also love the slight beard he has.

Adult Clive is what I wished Velvet actually looked like instead of this hot mess.

With his giant demon arm he honestly feels a lot less grounded than most Final Fantasy leads I can think of. Especially if you compare him to like Lightning or Squall.
Which is fine... I just hope the actual game is as over the top and silly as Clive looks.

Looks more like something you'd see from Dragon Age.
I'm a fan of it. I'll echo the sentiment that it looks relatively understated compared to other FF characters -- it's still not "grounded" in my opinion but it does feel dialed back in a way that works for me.
Not that I take issue with how over the top FF characters can look -- quite the contrary in fact -- but it's a nice change of pace.

Yoshida isn't actually directing this but the director did do The Last Remnant. So I'd probably keep my expectations of the general game closer to that than a Yoshida directed game.

His arm barely shows up if the trailers are anything to go by. Only when he is in combat. Though even when it does show up I am not sure how he is less grounded than someone like Tidus and his ridiculous clothes or Cloud.
Well I mean he is wearing greaves, and gauntlets, but then also has a really revealing vest on. And a one sided cape.

Design is okay but I dont really like the old trend of final fantasy characters having generic anime looking faces. Clive has still that baby face even with a huge scar across his whole face.
I hope SE will try to make characters looks closer to how they were in the FFXV movie someday.

I like how Vaan looks in the CG cutscenes I just think he looks dreadful in-game
also his voice actor sucks IMO
his yell when Balthier pushes him off the bridge in that scene during the party in Rabanastre...
I mean it is obvious they went for "stylish over practical" when designing him but compared to most FF characters he looks more "lowkey" and I like that aspect.
He reminds me more of the classic FF characters from FF1-6.
