Ii never said I wanted Biden but thanks for putting words in my mouth. I want Warren but I have lost all faith in the average American voter, so sue me for being cynical.

Also I never said Republicans. There are a lot of Democrats that are extremely against socialism too. Republicans will never vote Democrat no matter who is the candidate, but there are a lot of Democrats that won't vote for Bernie or Warren.

I don't think it's true Republicans will never vote another way. There are a lot of people who probably identify as independent but went for Trump for whatever reason. They can be brought back by Bernie. Warren not so much. But the Dems that don't vote Bernie/Warren, can we blame them if Trump wins again?

We don't need registered Republicans to win. We don't need to pander to them.

Trump isn't going to be beaten by shitting on the candidate. If you're already looking at who to blame should Trump win again, you need to look at things from a different perspective.

We won't lose this by backing Warren. Or Sanders. Any of the main candidates are favored against Trump (FAVORED, mind, not guaranteed to win).

And we certainly won't lose because of a horrible attack advert aimed at someone who isn't even a Presidential candidate.

Democrats will largely rally behind any candidate vs Trump.

Some will be unexcited about a progressive. Some will be unexcited about a centrist.

Why should the centrist be the default? Issue by issue polling of the Democratic base does not support that. Might as well also back candidates with better policies and better strategic place ment for future elections.

I just really hate that we're all being stifled over what amounts to a misunderstanding of civics and the definitions of words.

Although I've seen people confused thinking that the "Nordic Model" isn't also capitalism. It's just a giant failure of education all around in the US.

No, it really isn't.

The ad aired during the debates, but ABC/Disney themselves only control some of the ads during that time period. They also allow the local affiliates to sell some advertising time during primetime. And those local affiliates are what Sinclair has been buying over the years. For example, the ABC affiliate in Washington DC is apparently owned by Sinclair.

Edit: The test as to whether it was affiliates or ABC themselves/Disney is whether everyone everywhere who watched the debates on TV saw that ad, or if it was just people in certain markets. And from what I've heard, it wasn't everyone everywhere.
I've threadmarked this. It is important that people realize the difference between national advertising and regional affiliates

In an article about the incident from one of the Hollywood trades (Deadline):

The ad ran during the debate in some markets, but not nationally. ABC, which owns WABC-TV in New York, has not issued any comment yet, and a spokesman for Sinclair, which owns WJLA-TV in Washington, could not immediately be reached.

So it was definitely a regional ad buy and not national, but it wasn't only Sinclair owned networks, and ABC themselves owned at least 1 of the affiliates (but this is still a decision that would have been made on a regional level at the station).

I kind of expected Sinclair was behind this rather than ABC/Disney themselves. Fuckin' Sinclair. Worse than Fox News, made it so you can't even trust your own local news stations any more.

yo fuck abc for that miserable showing

by extension, fuck disney

I highly highly doubt any higher ups at Disney ever signed off on the ad buys for the debate. Again, I wouldn't be surprised if ABC/Disney comes out and apologizes and/or fires people.

So it wasn't a national ad, and the affiliates are responsible for running ads.

here is a question. Does national have to buy off on a regional/affliate ad? Or is there not that kind of oversight?
